I got the February(!) issue of Runner’s World in the mail today. As I was reading the editor’s letter this part stuck out to me: “Alas, running is inherently a selfish act. It’s healthy and life-affirming, yes, but we do it mostly for ourselves, by ourselves.” He was talking about running with his kids, but how true are his words? I struggle with balancing my need for a run vs doing the other things that I have to do in my life. Chores, spending time with friends and family, work, etc. But in the end, everyone knows that I am a much better and happier person when I get to run.
