Apparently, I’m really popular in Denver

I got home last Sunday evening after spending 8 days in Denver for my first annual work Conference. It was an incredible experience. I had the BEST time and even one of those “Aha!” moments where I realized that, despite it being 11pm and I was on the brink of exhaustion, I was EXACTLY where I was supposed to be. It was a great feeling.

But, that’s not why you’re reading this post, right? You all know to expect a little more excitement and drama (particularly male-related) when it involves me, right?

Of course, right!

Where to start? The beginning I suppose:

Let’s do this bullet style:

  • The conference started Wednesday. I had a videographer and photographer with me Thursday-Saturday. We ran around to get pictures and video from all of the sessions involving the 2,000+ people attending. It was nuts, but exciting.
  • Thursday I went to back-to-back receptions with the boys (my video and photo guys). At the first reception, 2 men from Puerto Rico came up to me and began chatting. One of them kept putting his arm around me, touching me and flirting with me…calling me “trouble”.  We chatted for a bit. He was sweet and I wasn’t bothered by it
  • About 20 minutes later, as I was rushing to the other reception, another man came up to me. He asked me if I ever got a break, and that I’d been running around a lot. He told me he’d been watching me the past couple of days (ummm…ok? That’s odd) and that I just had this energy about me. I thought it was a little weird, but it was fine. He asked if I was free later, and I told him I had to go to a student party, but he could come if he wanted. (he was not a student.) He agreed to go, but I did’t think he’d show.
  • HE DID! He hung out with me for about 45 minutes. He told me I had “Amazing hair” and that I was beautiful, and I just have this energy about me. It was nice. I liked it.
  • AND THEN I NOTICED HIS WEDDING RING!
  • Are you FREAKIN’ kidding me? A married man is hitting on me? Saying all this stuff? Seriously? My luck sucks.
  • So I decided to leave, he rode the elevator to our rooms and that was it.
  • When I saw him the next day at sessions, he would smile, wink, and wave at me. I felt a little dirty.
  • Saturday, he came to our office to say goodbye to me. He then asked if we could chat later, and I agreed. I wanted to know about the ring!
  • That night, there was a dinner and dance. During the dance, the man from Puerto Rico pulled me out onto the dance floor for hours. I had a blast with him. And then I taught our President (a man in his late 50’s, early 60’s)how to Wobble. It was great!
  • I finally met up with married man. We chatted for awhile. My friends were in the bar too, making sure I was ok. We were even chatting with the bartender. His name tag said “Matty K”. Matty K was funny and kept coming over to talk. He was friendly.
  • Married man kept telling me that I was gorgeous, that I have a smile that lights up the room, and that I have amazing hair. It was flattering but now tainted that I knew he was married.
  • Eventually, the bar closed and my friends went to another. Matty K said he would look out for me and I told them I’d be fine. I finally asked Married Man about his ring. He said he wondered when I would ask. He’s been married 2 years, and has never cheated on his wife(yeah, right) but he was just so attracted to me. And would I come back to his hotel room?
  • Acca-scuse me? Nope. I left. I went to meet up with my friends.
  • I ran into Matty K who said he was glad that I ditched “that loser.” I told him he was married and had tried to get me to go back to his room. Matty K said he was a douche and he annoyed him because the HE couldn’t hit on me!!
  • IS MY LIFE A ROMANTIC COMEDY NOW!?!?!?!?!?
  • I giggled, and we went our separate ways. I just can’t even anymore.
  • The night before we went to dinner. The waiter hit on me then, called me “love” 6 times and gave me a hug before we left. My co-worker said “the most random things really DO just happen to you!” Yep. They sure do!
  • 4 days after I got home, I got a text from the videographer. He proceeded to tell me how much he liked me and hoped something would happen on our last day together in Denver.
  • WHAT EVEN IS HAPPENING? He’s funny but he’s 10 years younger than me and I don’t see him that way AT ALL.
  • Married man has texted me twice since Tuesday. He’s still married. It’s not happening.

So, 4 days of work, 5 guys hit on me (1 after the fact!) and here I sit, alone again, naturally.

Life is funny, isn’t it?
