5 strange things about Melissa

I was tagged by the always delightful Anders  @morningmiles. Here goes nothin’

  1. When I eat chips, I always eat the smallest ones first, then the largest. I’m not sure why. Maybe I think I’m getting something extra by eating the big ones last?
  2. I have eaten the same thing for breakfast M-F for about 3 years now: an English Muffin with butter and chocolate milk. I can’t eat much in the morning so I consider this a victory.
  3. I wear an eye mask and ear plugs every night. I sleep SO much better because of them. I started doing it when I produced the morning news and had to go to bed at 6pm in the middle of the summer. Now I am used to it, and I don’t watch the clock this way. Also, I look SUPER sexy (Absolutely not, just ask @two-o-nine or @lindsaydoeslife or @becky-balances who have all shared a bed or a room with me). I don’t think @runningfortheriesling was forced to witness this when she came to Lincoln a few years ago.
  4. Back in college, my hair used to be so short in the back that I could spike it. It was a terrible life choice. Photos exist, but no one needs to see that.
  5. I like to bake, rarely eat the things I make. Maybe it’s because I sneak bites of the batter?? 🙂

I’m tagging @amanda-healthyhappywhole @rachel-reports-life and @exitrowiron to share some weird facts!

A perfectly sunny Memorial Day here in the heartland!

I got up late and went for a run mid-morning. I’m running a 5k in mid June with my 10 year old nephew and I haven’t run more than a couple of miles in a long time. This morning’s 5k was slow going, simply because it was super warm and sunny. I’m not expecting to set any land speed records, just have fun.

Today is going to be a day of relaxing and grilling out and remembering those who gave their lives for our freedoms. 🇺🇸

Oh, hello friends!

Do you miss my face???!!! Jk 😂😂

I seem to take unintentional breaks from posting a lot lately. That’s life, it happens. It doesn’t mean that I’m not still creepin’ on all of you though!

Things in my corner of the world are good. This marks my third week of my six week bootcamp challenge and I’m enjoying it. I like the classes and I like that I am getting stronger. I really need to take a hard look at my food choices, though. I’m not really losing weight, but I am losing inches. So that’s something.

I promise I’ll write more soon, maybe even tomorrow. But for now, that 5am alarm is going to ring awfully early tomorrow.

Happy Friday and long weekend friends! Let’s not forget the reason for the day off on Monday.🇺🇸

Send the happy along! When you get this, reply with 5 things that make you happy. Then copy and paste to the last 10 people in your activity feed

I like this!
1. This gorgeous weather… It’s 93º and perfectly sunny right now!😍
2. My sweet nephews calling me “Emmie”. (That’s their name for me and I love it!)
3. Early morning workouts knowing that I’ve killed it AND I’m done with it for the day!
4. My wonderful boyfriend and awesome family and friends. I’m blessed beyond measure. ❤
5. Reading a really good book… and not being able to put it down. I love getting lost in a book!

It was already 70º at 5am this morning. Expected high? 91º.

Where did spring go?

In other news, I stated a six week boot camp this morning. So far, so good. I’m hoping to get stronger and most some poundage at the same time.

Thank you for the sweet words on my picture yesterday. I think I’ll keep him😉😍

Happy Monday!

I’m seriously considering a GoFundMe

For all the dental work that I’ve had to get in the last few days. Over the weekend I had a raging tooth infection that turned into an emergency root canal yesterday. The nerve had completely died and I had to have a root canal. For the second time in less than a year. 😒🤕😭

I’m sure that you can guess by now that I’ve completely run out of my benefit in my dental insurance months ago. It doesn’t reset until the fiscal year starts on July 1st. I’ve been limping along with temporary crowns on another tooth for a few months now, while I wait for the benefit to reset so that I can afford to replace the crown since that cost upwards of $1,000. Guess how much my lovely new root canal cost yesterday? $975!!!!

I’m not going to be the kind of person that crowdsources their medical bills but this is getting ridiculous! I think what I’m going to do is take out a personal loan and pay that back over four years. How crazy is that?? That personal loan will also take care of my credit card debt but it’s hard for me to Fathom that this country is okay with the fact that people have to take out loans in order to pay for needed things like root canals and crowns for their teeth!!
