Scenes from a VERY BUSY weekend

  • I was supposed to run 6 miles on Saturday, misjudged and ran 7.5. Into the wind and up a lot of hills from mile 4 on. Gross. But, because of that, going to a Husker Basketball game, and having to park several blocks away, AND getting to move into better seats!! I managed to hit 10 miles on Saturday. I’m not mad about that! 🙂
  • That 3rd photo is from Friday. It was pretty perfect here the past few days…and I snapped that shot as I was walking back to work after going to the Dentist for the first half of my root canal. Because I wasn’t having any pain relief, they drilled into the tooth to drain the abscess that wasn’t responding to the antibiotics. The good news?? My tooth FINALLY DOESN’T HURT!! #blessed.
  • Today the roomie and I took her dog to the dog park and wore him out. Then I headed up to Omaha to shop and chill with my bestie. When I got home Reggie wanted to snuggle…he was spent. Normally he’s jumping all over me and won’t leave me alone. Today he just followed me around and flopped down next to me wherever I went. He’s pretty cute.
  • Dating update: Friday night was karaoke for my friend Keith’s birthday. The firefighter came, and brought a couple of friends. We had a blast! He and I danced a bunch and his friends are great. His one friend kept teasing me and told me how awesome I am. He and I are now friends on Snapchat. (because why not??). The friend told me that if he wouldn’t tease that would mean he didn’t like me. He said I was “in.” He texted the firefighter after they left and told him how cool I am and how much they liked me. So there’s that. 🙂
  • Saturday I went out with the guy from last week. I call him the Aggressive Kisser. I won’t go into detail, but I think you get the gist. We went to the basketball game and had a good time. But I just don’t feel comfortable with him, you know?? He managed to get a few strikes against him (besides the kissing! ugh!) He told me he never wears his seatbelt and refuses to. (Don’t even get me started on that. Seat Belts save lives. End of story.) Then he told me he does chewing tobacco. GROSS. I told him that it was gross. He also is not willing to quit that. 3 strikes buddy. You’re out.
  • I do have a date tonight with the guy I cancelled with last week. Fingers crossed! 
  • I have a question to pose to you all, regarding male/female friendships…but perhaps that’s best left for another post, when we actually have replies??

Because sometimes, in the middle of winter, you’re gifted with a pretty perfect spring-like day, and you HAVE to take advantage!

I wore my polka dot pixie pants today, and ran a decent 3 miles after work in the warm weather. I postponed tonight’s date to next week because my stomach has been bugging me. No regrets.

You guys…the nice guy texted AGAIN! He’s trying things with his ex one more time, but he wants to keep talking to me! Seriously dude? If that was my boyfriend I’d be angry. I told him I’d think about it. But honestly, no. Just no. Clearly there’s a lot of trust there if he’s essentially trying to keep me on the backburner while he waits for his relationship to crash and burn again! Ugh.

I’ve made a new girl friend at work. She’s awesome, she runs, and she’s really nice. #besties. Making friends as an adult is weird. But she’s great. We went to get sushi for lunch today.

Tomorrow is Friday. I’m so ready. Bring it on! Have a good one friends!

If I don’t laugh I’ll cry

  • My tooth is KILLING ME. Every time I eat it hurts more. Solution: don’t eat. Except I like food too much so that’s a no go.
  • Tonight’s date was TERRIBLE. He had a lazy eye (I couldn’t figure out where to look!) He talked about himself the ENTIRE TIME. And he made me split the bill! (He asked me out). The date lasted 45 minutes and I called it on account of my tooth. He wants to go out after I have the root canal. I am going to let him down gently.
  • I couldn’t wake up this morning to run because of my painkiller hangover so I have to adjust my runs for the week. If it had been a good date I wouldn’t mind-but now I’m just 6 kinds of irritated.
  • I have 4 miles to run tomorrow-I’m intentionally running after work because it’s going to be 50 degrees and I think I’ll need the stress relief.
  • The firefighter…why do we always want the ones who are bad for us? He is still there…but not as much. It’s confusing. I don’t like it. I know, I know, I need to tell him to go…but I actually like him, even though I shouldn’t.
  • I have nothing planned tomorrow. A date with another new guy on Thursday. Dinner with a (male) friend and birthday karaoke on Friday. And a second date with the guy from Saturday this coming Saturday. I promise this isn’t just a dating blog. But it’s my life. And while I am running, I’m dating too.
  • Do you ever look at someone’s life and think, “They are a trainwreck, and I can’t stop watching?” Lately, I’ve become concerned that you all think that about ME. I really hope that isn’t the case. That you’re not sitting there, just waiting for me to write some ridiculous nonsense about my dating life…intermingled with a bit about running and weight loss. I hope that you aren’t thinking I’m a desperate loser. I’m not. I don’t feel like I am.
  • On that note, why is it ok for men to date multiple women at one time and not for women to date multiple men at one time? My friend Chris jokingly called me a whore at lunch today because I told him I had a date Saturday with one guy and a date with another guy tonight. I was mad. Don’t call me a whore because I’m dating! I’m not sleeping with them!! Sheesh. So many double standards still exist for men and women and it sucks.

Ok. I’m off my soapbox now. 🙂 Thanks for listening friends. I’m going to bed. Things always look better in the morning, right?!?!?

This state employee thing is pretty great.

I had today off so I slept in, ate a leisurely breakfast and didn’t put on pants until 12:30ish. Solid adulting here.

I went on a 2 mile walk since today is a rest day and I did work about an hour from home to make up for leaving early on Thursday.

I’m currently watching the Grammys after pausing for a bubble bath. I have a date tomorrow with a different guy from Saturday. We’re getting sushi after work.

Also, look at that forecast! I’m so freaking excited!! If you need me, I’ll be running outside this week!! I’m a happy girl!

3 miles are on tap for the morning so I’m off to bed! Night friends!

Valentine’s day

Late night last night meant waking up this morning was hard. But hey, the date was great! 😉 he asked to see me again this coming weekend so that’s good AND he texted me this morning too. I’m impressed. Good job dude!

My friend and I went to see Deadpool. So funny, great one liners, and that role was perfect for Ryan Reynolds! I LOVE when they break the 4th wall! Go see it! He was the perfect Valentine’s date!

My roomies dog is just not getting it. He likes to gnaw on my hands and arms. Not really biting me, but chewing on me. Yesterday he did it kinda hard and left a bruise on my hand. Then he jumped on me (as usual) and scratched me up on my forearm. I have bruises and scratches. I told my date when he asked about them that he only does it because he loves me. He replied that that made me sound like I was in an abusive relationship! Whoops!

I had a pretty great run yesterday. A nice solid one. Felt great to have one of those. This coming week it’s supposed to be lower 50s to 60s. I’m super excited to run outside!

I have a date with the DVR and the couch tonight. I cannot wait. I plan on sleeping in tomorrow. I’m so excited!
