Puppy snuggles and morning struggles

Rio was tuckered out last night after our 1.5 mile run/walk and two hours of roughhousing with my roommate’s dog, Reggie. I was laying on the couch, talking to my bestie when Rio climbed up on top of me and snuggled in. She threw a back leg across my stomach and her front paw snaked its way over my chest and neck. She then proceeded to fall right asleep. A little bit later she tucked her head next to mine and kept on snoozin’. My little heart just melted. I sent those pictures to my bf. He was quite jealous! She never does that to him! I think she loves me best! 🙂

Are you wondering why I’m laying on my office floor? Between bad food yesterday from Noodles and Co. and cramps today this is the only comfortable position I can find. Good thing I have a private office and I can hear people coming!!

In other news-I got up and ran again this morning! 4 mornings in a row! Go Me! I have to be the talent for our video at church tonight so our walk will have to wait until 7pm because I CAN’T mess up my hair! LOL. She’s getting used to our walks/runs and the route we’ve been taking. She knows exactly where to turn. It’s pretty adorable.

This entire week has been a struggle to want to actually get work done. Send help!!

Happy Friday Eve friends!

Wednesday Things

  • Lower humidity and cooler temperatures made for a pretty fantastic run this morning. The struggle to get out of bed is still happening, but I’m working on it. I’ve ran each morning before work so far this week. Baby steps.
  • I came into work gushing about how gorgeous it is outside (sunshine, cooler, etc) and how great my run was.
  • Mornings like this make me all giddy. Endorphins. Go get some.
  • Lessons I’ve learned: Rio is not a good running partner in the morning. She’s too sleepy to want to run at 6am. She flat out refused to go with me this morning. So we run in the evenings. This way I’m doing 2-a-days. So that’s good, I guess?!
  • I’m going shopping at the mall after work. 50-60% off sales at all the stores means I at least need to go look, right?? 🙂

Have a great hump day friends!

Questions, Questions

I was tagged by the lovely Corinne at breatherunlive to do this. These are good questions, lady!!

Rule #1: Always post the rules.

Rule #2: Answer the 11 questions the person who tagged you wrote, then write 11 new ones.

Rule #3: Tag 11 new people

  1. If you could only watch one movie director for the rest of time who would it be and why? Hmm, Probably Stanley Donen–of “Singin’ in the Rain” “7 Brides for 7 Brothers” and “Funny Face” Fame. I’m a real big fan of musicals, can you tell??
  2. What is the number one item on your bucket list? It has been checked off–Run a Marathon. Did that in Chicago in 2012. One and done, baby. Number 2 was pilot an airplane. I did that in 2012 as well.
  3. How did you decide your tumblr name and if you’ve changed it, why? I like the alliteration of the M’s. I honestly never thought I would actually run a full marathon–but, I did!!
  4. If you could meet one deceased historical figure (NOT a celebrity) who would it be and why? Is it cliche to say Jesus? Talk about about a fascinating person! As a Christian that would be the ultimate.
  5. What is your favorite word? effervescent. It sounds like what it means-bubbly!
  6. What is your least favorite word? Any word that is overused: currently “piece and process”. A simple rule of Journalism that has stuck with me is this: “Once said, word dead.” I pick up on overused words all the time. They drive me crazy.
  7. What is your first memory? I can remember a little bit of our first big family vacation to the Black Hills in South Dakota when I was 6, in 1988. I have memories of this big lodge (it seemed HUGE) and stuffed wildlife.
  8. What is your most essential piece of clothing? Why? I think it would have to be jeans. You can dress them up or down, you can make them into ankle pants or capris…there are a lot of possibilities!
  9. What was your least favorite subject in school? Math. Ugh. The worst.
  10. If you could go back to school what would you major in? (Pick something other than your current major/career! Don’t be boring!) If I could go back I would go into Finance. I know, I just said I hate math. But if I could better understand money and investing, that would be awesome!
  11. If you had a choice between being able to continue your favorite activity (i.e. cycling, running, knitting… whatever) or being able to continue to use your cellphone (in other words, you cannot have both), which would you choose? Why? I would choose to keep running. I did just fine without a cell phone for the first 19 years of my life–I’m sure I could figure out how to survive without it! 🙂

Meet my new running partner, Rio!

This is my bf’s dog who is staying with me while he’s on vacation. She’s a lab/husky mix…hence the blue eye. She’s about 16 months old and she’s a sweetheart.

We went running yesterday in the heat and humidity and she did great…just tried to chase down a few birds and squirrels! She makes me run faster…but is good about walking and slowing down and listening to me too. We’re going running now, since a cold front moved thru…dropping us from 95 to 81 in about 11 minutes! Wish us luck!

Back to life, back to reality

  • Waking up for work after 9 days away from it and alarm clock was a struggle this morning. I did get up and run before work so I consider that a victory!
  • Between bloating and vacation hangover I feel gross. I’m up 3-4 pounds and I do not feel comfortable in my skin. Time to buckle down and make some changes.
  • The Ford dealer where I bought my Escape from is coming to pick my car up tomorrow and they’re going to have remote start installed for me. I’m ridiculously excited about this. Start the heating up and cooling off of my car with the push of a button? Yes please!
  • You know what happens when you’re tired but you don’t think you’ll be able to sleep and you take ZZZQuil to make sure you actually DO fall asleep? Trippy dreams and very deep sleep. I felt like I was swimming to the surface when I woke up in the middle of the night because my stomach hurt. Then I stumbled to the bathroom. It’s a good thing my roomie is a hard sleeper and didn’t come check on me! Oy.

My bf leaves Tuesday for a very long vacation to New York (where he’s from). I’m going to miss him. While he’s gone, I’m dog-sitting for him. Last night, we were sitting on the couch snuggling and he said that he’s going to “miss his girls so much.” (his puppy is a female lab/Husky mix. Her name is Rio) I thought that comment was pretty adorable. 🙂

Have a great week friends!

Spreading the Love

The always lovely thatsminethankyou tagged me in this a few days ago. My apologies in the delay in my response Ryan!

1. What’s your favorite facial feature on yourself?

I like my smile. I’ve always gotten a lot of compliments on it. I think it lights up my whole face.

2. Your favorite bodily feature on yourself?

Today may not be a good day for me to answer this as I am in the throes of feeling icky about my body. But generally I like my collar bone. I love how graceful it makes me and my neck look. Also, I’ll go with Ryan on this one and say my hair. I really dig it when I make an effort.

3. Favorite personality/mental trait on yourself?

I’m pretty funny. I like to make jokes and lighten the situation. In that same vein, I’m a good listener. People tend to tell me their life stories upon first meeting them.

I’ve been staring at this for 5 minutes

That’s what it looks like. That’s really what it looks like

Being out in the ocean is actually so scary because when you look really far out you can kind of see how the Earth is rounded out. It looks like a few miles ahead you’re just gonna fall off or something.

Also fun trick: if ur on mobile, double tap zoom in and slide the picture side to side. It looks like you’re actually there looking left to right

DO THAT DO IT RIGHT NOW

Bloody heck, it’s hot out there. We’ll be in a heat advisory this afternoon so I decided to get some miles in before it descended on us.

That did not happen. It was hot all night long. So I slugged out 2 miles walking and running. My bf called in the middle of the run and I gratefully answered…thankful for the reprieve. The humidity is killer.

I plan on a lot of pool time today. Happy Friday friends!

So this happened….

After we spent 12 years and 220,000 miles together, my beloved Shaniqua finally bit the dust. She threw a rod…floating a piston into the spark plugs. After she was towed to the graveyard, I found my next new vehicle…this beautiful blue 2013 Ford Escape! I love it!!!
