Monday, Monday

  • I look like a librarian. Or a picnic table. Either or, I’m not sure.
  • Our Save the Dates came! I LOVE them!! *Yes, my boo spells his name the girl way. His mother claims she “didn’t know there was a difference.” Oh, Fran. Sigh.
  • Work has gotten quite busy lately. So much so, that we’ve hired several freelance writers to take the strain off of us. I’ve now somehow become the project manager and I don’t do much of the grunt work anymore. It feels weird to move to that stage in my career. Weird, but good.
  • Camping was fun this weekend; we kayaked, swam, biked, and relaxed. We are going back again this weekend for more, as his parents are staying until next Sunday.
  • Rio and are going running tomorrow morning. I bailed today, I was exhausted and cranky.
  • I’ve been doing that save $5k in a year money challenge to help pay for our wedding. I started it on May 4 and as of today, I have over $1k saved! It has made me be very disciplined, and it sucks some weeks when I have to put in $140 or more, but it is worth it! I love seeing that pot grow!

Have a great week cats!

Good Morning!! Coffee Date?

  • 55 degrees and sunshine at 6am made for PERFECT running weather for my favorite running partner and me. Her brother was not impressed that I didn’t take him along. I could hear him barking from two blocks away when we got back. If he didn’t stop every five feet to mark something he would get to go running. Sorry not sorry, Charlie!
  • I MIGHT have a Kate Spade obsession. I first bought my Kate Spade wallet that matches my dress about two years ago. THEN I found the dress at the Kate Spade Outlet last spring, AFTER THAT, a friend at my church gave me the Kate Spade cup! This design just makes me so happy.
  • We are going camping this weekend with my future in-laws. They are coming up with their big ol’ brand new 5th wheel and camping at Wellesley Island, near Alex Bay, and we are joining them for the weekends. My boo took the week off so he can have some family time, while I go back to work.
  • How is it already the second half of July?? Why does summer go so fast, but winter takes its time? These are the questions I want answered!
  • This post has taken me all morning. Silly work responsibilities!!

Have a great day, friends!

Tuesday Things

  • Rio and I ran a very sweaty 3 miles this morning. Check out my dewy glow! At 6am it was already 70 degrees and super humid from the thunderstorm we had overnight. The heavens opened up again about an hour ago and we received more much-needed rain. But now the humidity level is WAY UP!
  • How great is that shirt? My friend gave it to me while I was back in Nebraska earlier this month. It is ironic because Lincoln didn’t drink, and I really don’t either. But I can appreciate the humor.
  • My poor momma had back surgery last week. She had a fusion to try to relieve the constant pain she has been in. I hate not being able to be there for her.
  • I ordered our save the date’s last night. The booking window is finally open for the flights, and we are excited to get things moving.
  • Aside from actually booking the trip, sending the save the date’s and eventually, the invites, and some other small things, we don’t have a LOT to do! GO TEAM!

Have a great rest of your week, friends!

I don’t think I could ever so eloquently put something into words like this. I don’t speak about politics here, I find it very divisive. However, ever since the election I have struggled to explain why I feel the way so upset and plain angry sometimes about our sitting president. But this woman is able to succinctly explain it.

If you unfollow me for this one post because of how I feel then shame on you. I haven’t unfollowed the many pro-Trump people I follow here simply because our opinions on politics differ. You are all still people whose lives that I respect and I enjoy reading your posts. But we can all have differing opinions without making personal attacks. Isn’t that what makes this world great?

10 songs

I was tagged my music soul mates @this-incredible-journey and @keepgoinggreen to name 10 songs I’m currently obsessed with. The tags happened a few days ago, but I’ve been in D.C. all week, first for work, then for vacation so I’ve been a little busy.

As I sit in the Minneapolis airport this morning, waiting for my flight back home to Nebraska for MORE vacation(!!) I’ve got some time to kill so I thought I’d do this post. Side note: I left D.C. at 615am EDT And it’s currently 807am CDT so forgive me for any errors in this post.

1. Echosmith- Over my head, Zookeeper remix

2. Dua Lipa- Be the one

3. Arianna Grande- No Tears left to cry

4. Kacey musgraves- High Horse

5. Charlie Puth- Done for me

6. The Revivalists- Wish I knew you

7. DNCE- Be mean

8. Virginia to Vegas- Selfish

9. Whitney Houston- Love is a contact sport

10. Tyler Shaw- Wicked

I’m tagging @two-o-nine and the new doctor, @davidbowietoldme

3 miles this morning with Rio. She was a trooper and ran hard the first 2 miles, then trotted along for the last one. My sweet girl did try to drag me along when she wanted to chase squirrels, but I avoided catastrophe! We used our running leash for the first time and it was AWESOME! My arms were free to pump along to my run, and she basically made me run faster! Win-win!

Oh, hello!

It has been a hot minute since a real post. The last few weeks building up to commencement it was hectic around here. We’re talking it would be 2:30 p.m. and I legit wouldn’t know where the day went. I’d panic over the number of things I would have to do and I would bury my head in work. EVERYONE wanted a news release written and to go out THAT DAY. It was crazy, but in true former TV News Producer fashion, I’d panic, plow through it all, and finish it with an hour to spare. Typical! I don’t know what it is like to be able to sit on a project or hold it until another day, so I tend to get things done right away. Serves me well.

Now things have slowed down immensely. The University is on summer hours, 8-4pm, instead of 4:30 (that 30 minutes makes a difference!) the kids are gone, along with many of the faculty, so I have a moment to catch my breath.

A few things to catch up on:

  • Weight. That’s stupid and I’m annoyed. My body DOES NOT WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT. I count calories, macros, I write it all down, and I basically kill myself trying to figure the science of this out. And NOTHING. I’m trying this new thing where I am going back to what worked the first time: I eat well most of the time and move my body. It seems the stress MIGHT be involved in my gain/plateau? I don’t know. I’m willing to do whatever at this point. (BTW, my need to lose weight is doctor-ordered. Not just because I’m vain.)
  • We’re getting our engagement pictures done the first weekend in June and I’m pretty excited. We plan on doing casual ones, ones with our dogs, photos with my boo in his Army uniform, and others with him in his Firefighter uniform with one of the trucks. (Did I tell you guys that he’s a volunteer firefighter? I can’t say that I love the idea of him rushing into a burning house, but I love that he has that ability to serve others like that). I’ve pinned a bunch of cute ideas for our shots, and I’m excited to do the shoot.
  • When we go to Washington, D.C. next month for my conference, we are going on a White House tour! My fiance set it up, along with a few other tours that he will do while I am in the conference. I’m pumped.
  • Since we get July 2-4 off for the holiday, I am taking the 5 & 6 off as well, and I will fly home for a nice break after the conference. We are staying in DC until Saturday, June 30, then I go to Nebraska until July 10. By the time I get back, I won’t have been to the office since June 22nd! YASSSS!
  • Wedding planning is happening. We have put the down payment down on our wedding at the resort, and just have to wait for the airfare window to open so we can book the rest. I am doing the Save $5K in a year plan, and have been faithful so far. I even opened a second savings account just for that! I LOVE watching the money add up.
  • My boo teases me about how tight-fisted I am with money at times. He was not amused when I told him that rich people get richer by not spending money frivolously. That, and great ideas and good investments!!

I think that about catches us up. Have a great week, friends!
