11 facts

I was tagged by the awesome Anders at @morningmiles to give you 11 facts about me. Here goes!

1. My left thumb is shorter than my right. Like significantly. It’s just the knuckle and nail part. Idk why. I was just born that way.

2. I spent my 18th birthday in Ireland. My brother was in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln marching band and they were marching in the St. Patrick’s day parade. My birthday is the day before that and my family decided to go with.

3. I am a very tactile person. I like to touch things and materials and sometimes that gets me in trouble.

4. My personal space bubble is very small. I don’t mind being touched (usually) and I touch people constantly. This also gets me into trouble. 😶

5. I rarely wear jewelry. Mostly I just wear my watch. Maybe earrings if I’m dressing up.

6. I had a dermoid cyst in my right eyebrow when I was 25. Upon removal my doctor found a spine in it. I was a TWIN! The doc said the baby died in the womb and my body absorbed it….taking 25 years for it to come out! So we all know who the stronger, evil twin is!šŸ˜ŽšŸ˜ˆ

7. I like to bake but don’t really like to eat the things I bake.

8. I’ve been to England, France, Monaco, Ireland, and Canada. Next up is Mexico.

9. I’m on my third career. I was a TV news producer for 11 years. Then I worked as a membership director for a non profit, now I’m a public information officer for the largest state agency in Nebraska….health and human services.

10. I piloted a plane twice when I turned 30. It was awesome.

11. I love to read and have amassed a large library.

Monday

Harry Potter lives at the Grand Island Vet’s Home!! I love it!

My red hair. This selfie turned out better than I thought it would. I really like the red, but I have to wash it in cold water and even then I’m washing red down the drain. The struggle.

It was 60Āŗ here today!! Hooray! I had a doctor’s appointment this afternoon…my General Physician is retiring in March and I wanted to see him one last time. Fun fact, he DELIVERED me nearly 35 (gasp!) years ago! The doc doesn’t agree with my cardiologist that I need to lose 20 pounds…maybe 10. Bless his soul, so I’m going to aim for that instead at first. We’ll go from there.

After I got done I took the dogs on a walk then hit spin class. I’m spent!

Have a great week friends!

Wednesday

A restless night meant for a short run this morning, but 1.3 miles is better than nothing.

It was snowing pretty good when I got up for the gym and by the time I left for work it was super slick out.

I decided to get a chai from the coffee shop in the first floor of my building instead of just brewing a k cup and saving money…then when I asked the chief of staff if he wanted one he said yes and gave me a gift card and said to buy mine, his, the CEO’S, and her assistant coffee as well. Yay, free caffeine! When we go to pay the card only has $5 left on it. šŸ˜’ Guess who ended up covering the rest??šŸ˜’ $8 is one very expensive chai! They apologized and claimed I’d get some cash but I’m guessing that’s not going to happen. Sure, make the one who makes the least pay for it. 😨

I had dinner with my friend steph tonight, it was good see her. I’ve missed her.

I’m hitting the hay to get up to run again. I’m getting my hair colored after work tomorrow.

Have a good night friends!

Tuesday Things

  • I woke up too late to go to the gym before work. I am seriously lacking motivation to go after, but I ran a couple miles on my treadmill at home AND I met my friend for leg day at the gym after I got off work.
  • Then I foam-rolled my legs and wanted to cry.
  • I want to thank you all for the kind words about the crazy ex and the fact that the doctor wants me to lose weight. One of the perks of being tall (I’m 5′9″) is that I distribute weight gain EVERYWHERE. So I have it all over. So trust me, there are 20 pounds to lose. But I LOVE you all who don’t think so.
  • It is snowing here. Boooo. I’m ready for consistently warmer temps.
  • I’m going to go to bed here in about 10 minutes and plan on getting up early to go run before work. I have a date with my friend Steph (former blogger on here) tomorrow night for dinner so I need to get my workout in before work!

Have a great week friends!

Oh hi friends!! (Waves hello!!!) I’m still here! (Me and my ipod from 2006šŸ˜‚!)

Remember me, I used to be to be a much more active part of this community, before certain people (who shall not be named) decided to take a dump on that. Long story short, an ex and his fiancĆ©e FOLLOWED me on here (I made this bad boy private when I lost my job back in October of 2015) and he chose to send me a text message 2 YEARS LATER telling me to take down a post that I had written about the two of them and how I had received messages from the fiancĆ©e on another social media site, completely out of the blue. So suddenly, my little corner of the internet didn’t feel safe anymore. If they had created a blog to FOLLOW me (3 YEARS after we broke up!!) then I wasn’t sure what I could say anymore. (Too late I realized that when he texted me, telling me to take the post down, I should have said, ā€œI’m sorry, I don’t know this number, who is this??ā€

When I told him I would take the post down, and that I would appreciate the two of them not following my blog any longer, since it is private and NOT SEARCHABLE via the URL, his only comment was: ā€œYou are rude.ā€

No. No I’m not. You are.

I chose not to dignify that with a response and took the high road. Because that, my friends, is cyberbullying on their part. But I also essentially quit posting here. I still read and like your posts, but rarely do I put myself out there anymore and that makes me sad.

So I’m done with that. I’ll be totally honest with you: when I used to blog a lot more it was happening at work. And now I really can’t do that anymore. But I have the internet at home and a laptop, there is no reason that I can’t actually do it there!

So in the interest of being back and catching you up with my life, I:

Ā· Got up and ran before work this morning! YAY! Before work is now getting to the gym by 5AM. GROSS. But I’m glad it is done!

Ā· Have been with the BF for nearly a year now. Things are really good. šŸ˜šŸ˜Š

Ā· Am working on becoming a better cook. I actually enjoy it!

Ā· Am lifting weights and trying to eat better as the BF and I are going to Mexico with his family in April. I CANNOT WAIT!!

Ā· And, for the first time since 2011, I am NOT running the Lincoln Half Marathon this May. I need to lose 20 pounds (doctor-ordered!) and I can’t lose weight when I train. I also couldn’t pull the trigger on the race. I had my credit card number in the form and everything but couldn’t hit ā€œsubmitā€. When that happens I know that it is my gut telling me that I just need a break. Ironically, the race that has sold out in hours every year since I first started doing it, has NOT sold out YET this year…more than 2 weeks after it opened up! Is interest waning in running?

Ā· My friend Deb and I have been gone to Spin Class here that is done like Soul Cycle (in the dark, loud music, positive, upbeat teachers) and I quite like it. It is a fun thing to do that is not running.

Thanks for sticking around friends! I’ve missed you.
