The drugs are good!

I went to bed at 7:45pm last night thanks to a combo of the drugs and nausea. Just living my best life over here!

It snowed another 3ish inches this morning. Enough to close the schools and enough that we decided to come in late. So I slept in. I’m still feeling kind of weird and I don’t know if I can blame it on the massage. Perhaps a stomach bug? I don’t know. Thanks for all the well-wishes! I did drink a lot of water after the massage, but I think it was because she was really working on my left shoulder that has been giving me troubles for about 2 years now. It doesn’t hurt today, but I think she pushed all the toxins around, causing last night’s excitement.

I can’t decide if I should run my speed work tonight and do my Tempo run tomorrow or just skip the speed work and do the tempo run tomorrow. two-o-nine is hesitant for me to change my schedule and to be honest, I think I could use another rest day! We’ll see how the day shakes out.

Happy Hump Day Friends!

Currently.

That massage did a number on me, and not in a good way. I’m incredibly sick to my stomach, a little dizzy, and light-headed. It’s been nearly 2 hours and I’m still feeling horrible. I just took an anti-nausea pill that I have for my migraine rescue medicine. It’s pretty much a guarantee to put me to sleep so no run tonight.

On the plus side? My muscles feel awesome! I just feel like death.

Tuesday Things

  • First Speed work of my Hanson’s plan tonight. 12X400 which works out to 8 miles with a 1 mile warm up and cool down. That’s a lot of miles on a Tuesday.
  • I have a massage scheduled after work today. I’m pretty excited about it. My hamstrings, glutes, lower and upper back are on the menu. My masseuse is a sports masseuse and has seriously strong hands. I can’t wait.
  • Mileage seriously jumps this week. From 28 miles to 37. It’s week 6 guys. Week 6. The Lincoln Half Marathon is May 3rd. We are less than 3 months out. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.
  • The Runger I’m experiencing is REAL guys. I can’t seem to satiate this beast inside me. The more I run the more I want to eat. But I don’t eat too much or eat junk so I suppose that’s a win?
  • I’m on the hunt for new books to read. Any great recommendations? I like fiction, memoirs and most recent pop culture works.
  • I think New Guy (and his inappropriate friend!) are out of the picture. I haven’t heard from either one of them since the thigh incident. Whew!

Have a good one friends!

Perks of your office being on a university campus: when they close for snow, our offices are closed!

First snow day I’ve had since I was a University of Nebraska-Lincoln student a few (ahem!) years ago!

Fun fact: my old news director texted me today and told me I had to come into work. I texted back and lol’d him. He told me he missed me. Today marks 6 months since I left The Ocho. I’m so happy with this life change! I still love my TV news friends, but I really think I’ve found my place.

What a difference 24 hours makes!

We’re at about 7 inches of snow and it’s still coming down. I’m not even going to try to shovel until later. My street is plowed because I live directly across from a hospital so I’m on a snow route. However, that means they pushed the snow into my driveway.

So that means it’s time for a leisurely breakfast and then I’m going to attempt to run some miles later. I’m going to cross my fingers and hope the neighbor boy wants to make some money and will scoop our snow!

My dad works overnights and he had to walk home about 2 miles after the car went into the ditch. I’m just thankful he’s ok. They’ve closed parts of the interstate due to accidents. It’s scary out there. We’ve been pretty lucky lately and haven’t seen this kind of snow.

Stay safe friends!

It has been about 6 weeks since we’ve seen snow. I haven’t really missed it. We’re supposed to get about 3 inches before all is said and done.

It’s that sloppy, wet snow that makes everything kind of gross. I wouldn’t have ventured out in it except tomorrow is the Super Bowl and my friend Keith and I have planned to watch it together eating the above pizza. The pizza place we love is closed for a party tomorrow (a lesson we learned the hard way last year) so I picked up the ‘za today. It’s safe in my fridge where he can’t eat it until tomorrow!

This pizza is incredible you guys: cream cheese, Italian sausage, and tomatoes. YUM.

I have a quiet day planned, and thanks for all the well wishes! I’m feeling much better!

Happy weekend friends!

Well, this day went downhill fast.

The cough started last night. I ignored it and set my alarm to run this morning anyway.

I did my first Tempo run of the Hanson’s plan this morning. It was terrible. 5 sucky, sucky miles. But! Look at that! I was first on the Fitbit leader board! That never happens!

Then I showered and went to work. Feeling utterly exhausted, like each step from the car to the door required more strength than I had to give. But I rallied. Or so I thought.

My co-worker had confirmed flu earlier this month. I had outlasted it. But it doesn’t appear that is the case anymore.
I called the doctor and they are giving me Tamiflu and I’m home now, snuggled in my bed.

I really wish someone was here to take care of me, and go pick up my drugs from the pharmacy. Sniff, sniff. I hate being sick! But, at least it explains why my run this morning was so horrible. I was more than a little concerned.

Now, I think it’s time for a nap.
