Sunday-Funday-Runday

When the weather is this great, you go for a run. Even if your schedule doesn’t really call for a run today. But perfect winter running days are few and far between here in Nebraska, so you take advantage.

You know how sometimes, during a run you can’t wait until that run is over? And then when the run is finally done, instead of being grateful that it’s over, you think to yourself, “maybe I should just go for another couple of miles?”

Yeah, me neither. 🙂

An update of sorts

Things have been quiet here in Melissa-land. That’s fairly unintentional. This past week was crazy, and marked my second year in a row of getting sick in the days leading up to Christmas. Hey body. We really need to work on that whole timing thing.
-I caught a stomach bug that left me nauseated for 3 days straight, including Christmas. That’s almost worse than actually throwing up. *Almost.* I’m finally back to normal.

-I found out Monday that my car CAN be repaired, and the check came today! Thank goodness for small favors! That’s a load off my mind. Nevermind that his insurance company called and they will not pay for anything as they have determined they aren’t liable as he had “established the lane” and I backed into it. I have full coverage. I should be ok, right?

-I’m off this next week. My wisdom teeth are coming out on Friday when my dental insurance resets for 2015. I’m kinda scared as one is impacted.

-oh! A little thing called Hanson’s Half Marathon training begins on Thursday! I’m scared. Brooke assures me I’ll be fine. I trust her. That means it’s only 18 weeks until May! And summer. And warm weather.

-I had a great Christmas. I feel spoiled. I love my family and friends. However, now My two least favorite holidays are coming: New year’s eve and Valentine’s day. When you’re single, both create horrifically unrealistic expectations in your head. I’ve had some epic new year’s…making out with a hot guy that I just met in a bar for hours..(No shame. I’ll own it) to spending several of them at Husker football bowl games, to chill ones with my two besties, to a fun night out with my best guy friend. But I just don’t enjoy the crazy feeling of HAVING to have an epic night, or trying to find a new year’s kiss. It’s stressful.

-it’s late. My huskers lost their bowl game by a field goal against USC. So I’m going to hit the hay and try to recapture last night’s dream that involved me making out with Chris Pine. (Sigh. He’s so dreamy!)

Happy weekend friends!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
And two-o-nine is a wonderful friend.

I came home the other day to find the first package waiting for me. Some fabulous new running tights? Yes please! I’m obsessed. The color, the pattern, and they fit perfectly. Brooke knows me.

And then she told me another package would be delivered the next day. Because she spoils me!

I plan on getting fully immersed in Hanson’s…And I can’t wait to read The Oatmeal’s book.

The internet is full of some pretty awesome people. I’m so lucky to know Brooke and Andrew. Sister wives for life!!

You may not see it today or tomorrow, but you will look back in a few years and be absolutely perplexed and awed by how every little thing added up and brought you somewhere wonderful – or where you always wanted to be. You will be grateful that things didn’t work out the way you once wanted them to.

The amount of truth in this is overwhelming.

I’m officially on Christmas Vacation until January 5th!!

2 weeks of fun, family, friends, and festivities stretch out before me.
I haven’t this long off for Christmas since I was in college!!

I’m sure I’ll be dealing with car stuff. And Thank you all for you kind words about yesterday’s accident! I’m fine. And Shaniqua still runs. She looks like someone took a big ol’ bite out of her…but she’s still going.

Happy Holidays Friends!!

Is Flashback Friday still a thing?

Well, I’m making it a thing today.

That’s because 10 years ago tomorrow this picture was taken after I graduated from College at the University Of Nebraska-Lincoln. I’m pictured here with my besties.

Some things I vividly recall from graduation: They had to special order my gown; it was a 5’9 to 6’0 gown but there was a * on the tag, that meant it was bigger because the regular size gown just wasn’t going to fit my figure. I felt so ashamed when I tried on gowns at the graduation fair. I couldn’t wear one that fit too tight, so they had to special order it.

I’m glad some things change.

Bloody heck. Poor Shaniqua.

So this happened this morning.

As I was backing out of my driveway.

While it was snowing.

On my way to work.

Le Sigh.

I would swear to you the guy wasn’t there. His car had a flat and minor damage on the back bumper quarter panel. We’re both fine. I really don’t want to buy a new car. Shaniqua has 215k on her but she runs well and it has been paid for since 2008. I’d rather not be making a car payment, if it’s all the same. My brother has a bumper that will fit it and that he can install. Fingers crossed that there isn’t more damage than what meets the eye.

Not exactly the best start to my Thursday.Â
