#TBT the summer of 2004.

I worked for the University of Nebraska Foundation for about a year and a half. We called alumi and asked for donations. We sent these mailings out to let people know to expect a phone call from us. I found this gem at my parent’s house a few weeks ago.

Why did they make me sit down in the front row?! That is NOT a good look! Oy.

That job is a major reason I have my new job today. Life is funny that way.

I’m back!

I’m working on a post about my conference experience. But, since it was me, and the most random things really do just happen to me, that post is going to take awhile.

For now I give you a picture from the dinner and dance Saturday night. We had a photo booth. It was awesome. I’m not comfortable putting my co-worker’s pictures on here, so I doctored them up!

This conference was fantastic.

I got hit on by 4 different men! (Go me!)
I met some amazing people.
I taught the president of the organization (a man in his late 50s or early 60s) how to Wobble!
And I learned a very valuable lesson.

Recap is coming…since I have this whole week off to recover, I should have some time to write! Especially since it’s freaking cold and snowing!

Till then! Sweet dreams friends!

I just went outside for the first time since Tuesday

And it was glorious! #conferenceProbs

A used bookstore adventure (the Tattered Cover)! Dinner, where the waiter called me “love” at least 6 times, AND wanted to hug me at the end! (I can’t make this stuff up! So I’m a flirt, it’s all good!) and then a walk back to the hotel in the rain. A solid evening.

One more full day of conference, the a bit on Sunday before we head home. I’ve had a blast!

Once you get this you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly, then send this to ten of your favorite followers (non-negotiable) (positivity is cool) :*

I was also tagged by yogalarva to do this. Sorry it’s taken so long, ladies! I’m in the middle of my first work conference and my days start at 5am and last until 11pm! Oy.
Here goes nothin’.

1. I’m funny. I’m good at making jokes, or easing situations. I love making people laugh.
2. I’m a good listener. People tell me their life stories, even when I barely know them. The journalist in me LOVES that.
3. I have pretty great hair. (When I actually style it!) In fact, a man told me tonight that I have “amazing hair” and that he loves the curl. True story. My patented hair-flip has been known to get me what I want a lot of the time! 😉
4. I’m a happy, positive person. I like to think of myself as a little ray of sunshine. I’ve been meeting a lot of people these past few days. They’ve all remarked on hope much energy I have, and how fun and sassy I am. Love it! I love schmoozing!
5. I am a runner. 150 pounds ago I would never have believed you if you would have said that I would one day run a marathon and 10 halfs. But I have. And that’s awesome.

28° this morning. Sunny and a little breezy. So what does any normal person do before they head out of town for a work conference for 8 days? Do they sleep in? Nope. They go for a run!

2.05 miles in 21:16. A pretty great run. The cold air felt great on my lungs and I was pretty good about staying around a 10:31 pace.

Now to shower and get ready to head to Denver for my first conference (that we put on! I’m a bit nervous!)

Happy weekend friends!

I just woke up from the most bizarre dreams

They involved an ex boyfriend, lying to princess Kate about that ex boyfriend, a cruise ship that had to catch a shark, a laser show that cost me $800, flirting with Chris Pine (who is in a indie rock band as a keyboardist in my dreams!) some of my old co-workers, and renting a car with the ex boyfriend.

I woke up very confused, and yet somehow, not at all surprised.

Dreams are so random.

I’m taking a big (for me!) leap of faith with today’s outfit.

I bought my first real pair of leggings this weekend. I had always shunned them because I was “too hippy” “too curvy in the thighs” to wear them. (At least in my head!) I bit the bullet and bought some and decided to wear them to work today.

LIFE. CHANGING.

It feels like I’m wearing nothin’ at all!

Seriously. I’m a fan. Maybe its not the best look for my rear, but whatevs, I don’t care. I’ve worked HARD for this body and I’m not going to care what a bunch of teenagers* think of me.

Also, does this mean I’m basic now? Leggings, boots (my brown riding boots) and a Columbia jacket completed my outfit this morning! I’m currently drinking a chai tea latte, not a PSL.

*I work on a college campus. I currently feel judged by the students (at times) for what I wear. However, that’s usually only when I’m dressed up and they’re dressed in outfits much like this one. So I guess I’m dressing like a teenager again? I don’t even know.
