“Ice, ice baby…”

I went running outside for the first time in awhile this morning. The weather and my schedule have not cooperated to make it happen lately. But today, the stars aligned. It’s gorgeous here. Nearly 50 degrees when I was done. But look at that extended forecast–the bottom is going to drop out Sunday when a cold front moves in. 40 degree temperature change! Ugh.

My one complaint during my run? My hometown got about 4 inches of Snow Saturday night, and so we had a white Christmas this week. That was great. But seriously, homeowners! It’s been nearly a week- get your crap together and scoop your sidewalks! I had to slow down and walk or tread lightly because people haven’t scooped and now there is ice mixed with the snow.  Cold weather running problems. Sigh.

I checked my DailyMile and I’m 7 miles away from 750 miles run for the year…so that’s my new goal. 4 days for 7 miles–barring any more illness! I’ve been slow this week since that stomach bug. My appetite isn’t 100% yet and I’ve been so tired. I’ve been grateful for this vacation time–I know I wouldn’t have felt like working! Serendipitous planning!

Today I’m going to go see “Saving Mr. Banks” with my ‘rents. Matinee pricing FTW! Have a great Friday everyone!

Hi Friends! I’ve been a little MIA this week. Christmas vacation and all. Family, friends and fun have meant little time to Tumbl(e). Let’s catch up, shall we?

  • I got the above shirt for Christmas. I was quite pleased with the hair/shirt/makeup combo today. So you guys get a selfie. Sorry I’m not sorry. 🙂
  • Brooke  sent me this movie for Christmas. It was actually delivered to my Lincoln home, but I’m at my parent’s house 45 minutes away and didn’t make it back up there until today. Monday I was too sick to stop on the way home from Omaha. It’s one of her favorite movies to cry to. With this and the book “The Fault in Our Stars” from Hayley, I just think y’all want me to have a good cry as the year ends! 🙂 Its all good.
  • And Becky. This card. It came on Christmas Eve. I opened it, and had to sit down while reading. You guys. This girl. I adore her. What a sweet, thoughtful, and kind card. 2013 has been a year of ups and downs in my life. (a lot of downs, now that I think about it!) But friends like Becky, and all of you have made it so much better. I may have teared up a little Becky while reading your card. Thank you so very much! I hope you don’t mind that shared it with the internet! 😉

I’ve still got 3 full more days off from “the real world” and I’m taking advantage. It’s 55 degrees here and I’m feeling good, so a run outside without extreme layers is happening tomorrow! So excited! I’m also brewing a post about 2013 and 2014 goals. (I don’t do resolutions). Thanks for being wonderful friends guys!

Have a great night!

Merry Christmas Eve!

It’s been a doozy of the past 36 hours. I managed to get that stomach bug that’s going around and ugh, was it bad! Of course it happened while I was at my bffs house and spending the weekend with my besties. I was miserable. This toast is the first food I’ve eaten since 10pm Sunday night.

But most importantly, I got a secret Santa gift in the mail yesterday! Hayley! Thank you so much! I’ve wanted to read this book for a long time! It came from UPS last night, but I was too weak to get up and slept about 13 hours yesterday!

I’m so behind on stuff now…like all my wrapping! But I’m feeling like i can do it now. A stomach bug is a terrible way to lose 5 pounds however!

So thank you got the wonderful gift! And merry Christmas friends!

two-o-nine:

Once upon a time, I did a twelve week program through my gym. And at the end of it, we did a photo shoot. And I got bangs. And fake eyelashes. And it was lovely. I lost 34.2 pounds. And tomorrow, I shall recap the entire program. Until then, a sneak peek! (Not a professional photo – just a phone photo!)

Brooke is amazing. Once she puts her mind to something, watch out! She makes it happen! I’m so proud of you my friend! You rock.

Flashback Friday, college graduation edition.

9 (gasp!) Years ago today, I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with my bachelors degree in journalism.

What a difference 9 years makes! I’m 150 pounds lighter, and so much happier.

Sometimes, it’s hard to look back and see these pictures. But I honestly think it’s good to remember.
