A little perspective

I’ve been feeling down about my body lately. I know that I will forever be a work in progress, that I can never stop eating right or working out. But sometimes it is just exhausting, you know?

The photo on the left popped up on my Facebook memories today…from a night bowling with the Ocho crew. It seems like a lifetime ago. The one on the right is from Friday night with a different Ocho crew. I see so many differences in my face now, the least of which is the 150 pound weight loss. I see a happy girl, one who doesn’t let her weight and size determine her happiness. I see a genuine smile, because I’m having a great time with my friends. I see a healthy, active person who loves her life, family and friends.

Isn’t that just fabulous?

Nebraska Rent

sarinaslimsdown said: It makes me so sad how expensive rent is in Seattle. currently paying $2080 for a 1 BR :((((

allyooooop said: $333 a month?!?!? Insanely jelly!

So…you might hate me, but my 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a full basement (and laundry room) is $1000/month. We have about 980 square feet of living space. But, the cost of living is lower here so that helps. Utilities are about $300-$350 total a month (water is billed every other month and runs about $40 each bill).

Another reason midwest is the best!

EDIT to add: I’m counting Electric, Cable/Internet, Gas & water in those bills

Pay Day. Finally.

This getting paid once a month thing is not my favorite when it comes to the last few days of the month. But today? This is me:

ALL The Money! Too bad a lot is going flying out of my account in the next few days. I’ll enjoy it while I can. Don’t get me wrong, I’m budgeting just fine…I just like a very healthy account balance. 🙂

In other news:

  • The BF met my Ocho friends this weekend. It went well.
  • I had an exceptionally lazy weekend: 2 hour nap Saturday, TV Marathon Sunday. I regret nothing!
  • It’s Game Week Baby! Go Big Red!
  • My roomie’s boyfriend is moving in with us, bringing my rent down from $600/month (plus utilities) to $333.33 each. In the month that I start paying my car loan this makes me INCREDIBLY happy!

Have a good one friends!

I’m a delicate flower

  • My roomie’s dog will NOT STOP JUMPING on people. The above happened last night after he came in from outside and hadn’t seen me all day. She tells him to stop, but clearly, THAT’S not working. His sharp claws managed to not only scratch up my thigh but bruise me as well. I swear I spend half my life trying to figure out where the bruises on my body come from. I’ve currently got matching ones on the insides of my forearms that I’m curious about.
  • In other news, thanks for the support, RE: the office move. I talked to the boss again and while she still doesn’t understand why I don’t want to give my office up to someone under me AND with less time here, we haven’t moved yet. (Really lady? That doesn’t make ANY sense to you? Geez.) My fingers are crossed that we won’t have to.
  • I bought some PSL M&M’s to try today. I will report back.
  • Conversely though, I agree with becky-balances that we should stop wishing away this most lovely part of summer. Doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy some chocolate though! 😉

Happy Thursday Eve Friends!

+/- Things

– Work sucked yesterday. I found out my boss has no empathy. This concerns me as I consider my future.

– She’s making me move out of my office into a communal area with 2 others. She’s making another move as well. This has caused much discord and unhappiness (except for those who are taking our offices!).

– I’m still coughing. We’re in week 4. The doctor said to treat the symptoms.

+ Last night the BF and I joined Sam’s Club. It’s our first joint thing like that together and we were so excited about it! We went a little crazy buying in bulk, but we eat dinner together every night so now we won’t have to shop for awhile. Win-win!

+ I have a Facetime date with two-o-nine tonight. I miss her face.

Well, sometimes there are more minuses than pluses. Life is like that, I guess.

11 Questions

The awesome Rich at keepgoinggreen tagged me in this on Friday. I tend to fly off the radar on weekends so I’m catching up today!

Here goes nothing!

1.  What is the best concert you have ever been to? Hands down, Justin Timberlake the FutureSex/LoveSounds Tour back in the day. I had floor seats about 10 feet away from JT himself. I died.

2.  Do you play a musical instrument?  (Or did you as a kid)? I played French Horn and Trumpet. I hated both with a passion. So I quit after 2.5 years.

3.  Let’s talk about ceilings for a minute.  Would you rather have a Ceiling that Can’t Hold ya or be Dancing’ on the Ceiling? This is a funny story with Rich and I after I edited a music video to the first song I HATE that song! However, I’d rather dance on the ceiling!

4.  Farm Aid or Band Aid? Band-Aid. Feed the World!!!

5.  Who is one band or musician that you have never seen perform live but you wish you could?  (they can be dead or alive) Hmm… I feel like it would be pretty amazing to see the original Beatles perform live.

6.  Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo or Glastenbury? Since IDK what the last two are…I guess Lollapalooza?

7.  If you had to pick one genre of world music to listen to non-stop for a month which would you pick and why?  (And by world music I mean something that is not part of your current daily culture on the radio where you live). I think J-Pop. I feel like that type of music would be similar to things that I currently listen to now.

8.  Would you rather:  Not be able to Feel Your Face or not be able to Fight This Feeling Anymore? Not be able to fight this feeling. Sometimes you just gotta give in! 😉

9.  What is your current favorite band or musician? That’s hard to narrow down, JT for always, but if you mean music that is out currently, I like a lot of Jason DeRulo songs.

10.  Do you listen to music while working out, running, etc?  If so what kind and is that different than what you listen to while you are not being active? Yes. I run to a lot of pop music, but also there are some show tunes mixed in there. I listen to the same stuff when I run as when I don’t.

11.  Ask yourself your own music related question and include the answer.

Favorite guilty pleasure music? I listen to Christmas music starting in November. No Shame. No shame at all. 😉

This was fun, Thanks Rich!

Friday Five!

The #Blessed edition.

  1. I had to license and register my car this morning. $1,637.21 later…it’s all taken care of. That hurt. Real bad. Nebraska property tax is something ridiculous like 8%. That’s part of why I didn’t want a new car, the cost for licensing it is INSANE! However, I had $1000 from my credit union and $644.77 from an old savings account that I closed. I juuuuust covered the cost with a few bucks to spare!
  2. My co-worker called me on my way to the DMV, to tell me we had a 9am staff meeting (previously unannounced) I told her I’d be there asap–more like 9:30. So I may have sped a bit on my way back.
  3. ….Then I got pulled over after a cop shot me with his radar gun. When I asked how fast I was going he said that he couldn’t tell me or he’d have to give me a ticket. I took that to mean he wasn’t going to. (Either that or he didn’t know how fast I was going!) HE ONLY GAVE ME A WARNING AND TOLD ME TO SLOW DOWN. I’m a lucky, lucky girl. I was likely doing 45 in a 30! My co-worker was ticketed for doing 40 in a 35!!
  4. It is Friday. I get to sleep in this weekend.
  5. I don’t have too many things planned this weekend-My 5 year old nephew’s t-ball game, and the Dog Splash Sunday night. Rio LOVES swimming and playing with other dogs. Win-Win.

Happy Friday Friends!
