Friday Five: the “It was a very dramatic morning” edition!

  1. My roomie texted me last night while I was at my friend/seamstresses house getting a dress taken in that Rio had gotten out of the fenced in backyard and into the neighbor’s yard. She came when she called, but the neighbor girl was a little scared of her. But no harm, no foul. She got yelled at and the roomie swatted her butt. I thought we were done and she’d behave.
  2. I THOUGHT WRONG. This morning I let the dogs out while I was running. When I came back, my roomie’s dog was in the yard and Rio was nowhere to be seen. Cue the panic and adrenaline. I found her in the neighbor’s yard again and went to get her. Instead I chased her for 15 minutes through 2 backyards at 6:30am! She refused to come and must have thought we were playing, despite my very angry voice yelling at her to come to me and/or sit. I called my roomie, she brought treats and we corralled her. So much yelling ensued. I live on a very busy street-I was terrified she’d get hit by a car! As part of her punishment she did not share my breakfast this morning. Hrmph. I’ll show her!
  3. Nothing like running through a spider web during your morning run to perfect your ninja skills! I karate chopped and flailed my arms to get rid of any potential spiders. I’m sure the early morning commuters enjoyed the show!
  4. This morning required a Starbucks run for an Iced Chai Latte. Rio woke me up at 1am for a potty break and then that 6:00am alarm felt like it went off 20 minutes later.
  5. I’m heading to Omaha tonight to see my bestie. I haven’t seen her since the end of May. That’s way too long to go when we only live 50 miles apart.

Happy Friday Friends!

Hump Day Happenings

  • I PAID OFF MY CREDIT CARD TODAY!!!!!! Only my travel card to go!
  • The money I put toward my credit card payment will go to my car loan payments that start next month. Coincidence? I think not. Le sigh. I really wanted to roll that over to other bills, not have a car payment. Oh well.
  • I’m totally rocking 2nd day hair today.
  • Nothing will motivate you more to clean off your desk than spilling your water bottle over much of it. Whoops!
  • melanietris, I promise I will post pictures of the bf and I from the wedding next weekend. I swear, he does exist!!
  • I went to see “Trainwreck” last night. Funny, funny movie.
  • I found this dress in the back of my closet last night. I had totally forgotten about it! #signsIneedtocleanmore
  • I have a wedding this weekend. The invite says “Black Tie Optional” so my old roomie lent me her Kate Spade dress. It fits perfectly! My friend (and usual wedding date) Rob is going with me. He’s the best: he’ll dance, he’s taller than me so I can wear heels: (he’s 6′5″) and he is so much fun! I’m excited.
  • The dog and I are going running after work. She is now expecting this routine and whines until I get her harness and we go run. Keeps me accountable. I like it!

Have a great Wednesday friends!

Alternately titled, “Rio is NOT amused” or “Leave me alone, lady!”

I sent that Snapchat to my bf last night. Rio had snuggled up on my lap out of her own free will, so I decided to send that picture to him. The look on her face was so priceless! She was just not having it. Hrmph. I even had bought her more dog food and rawhide bones at the store before I came home! How rude of her! 🙂

In other news:

  • My wonderful bf bought me a plane ticket to go to New York next week! I will meet his family and friends and accompany him to his best friend’s wedding! EEE! I’m excited! I miss him. It’s been nearly a week since I’ve seen him and it seems longer. I fly from Omaha to Buffalo next Thursday at 6:30am.
  • I was researching the 21 Day Fix. I know at least a few of you are Beachbody Coaches and have done the program. I’m considering it. I think it could help me get these 10 pounds off that I want gone. Is the food part really hard? I’m not much of a cook.
  • I think I had a migraine during the night that didn’t fully form–(I get auras with them) and I just was left with the headache. I feel awful. Combine that with a 2 hour staff meeting this morning and a very upset tummy (that usually happens with migraines, I’ve found) the afternoon struggle is VERY real for me.
  • My old roomie got engaged yesterday! She’s the morning show anchor at my old tv station and she and her boyfriend (now fiance) bought a house together in April so she just moved out a few months ago. He proposed with the ring AND a puppy! That’s how you do it boys, take note!
  • Each Tuesday is $5 movies at the theatres in town. My friends and I are going to see “Trainwreck” tonight. I can’t wait!

Happy Tuesday friends!

So  many questions!

The lovely Elizabeth at this-incredible-journey tagged me to do this one..Here goes nothing!!

  • Rule #1- Always post the rules.
  • Rule #2- Answer the questions the person who asked, then write 5 new ones.
  • Rule #3- Tag 5 people then link them in the post.
  • Rule #4- Tell the person that tagged you that you’ve answered the questions.
  • Rule #5 Never be afraid to change the rules

  1. If you could only eat 1 kind cereal for the rest of your life what would it be? Does oatmeal count? Because I really don’t eat cereal that often…I haven’t bought any in years! If I had to choose, it would be Cinnamon Toast Crunch. YUM.
  2. NBA or college hoops? College. But really neither. For me, College Football is where it’s at. Go Huskers!!
  3. When was the last time you thought/said either “this was a terrible idea” or “this was the best idea ever!”? Hmm. Probably when I ran the Omaha Half Marathon last year with basically no training. Everything hurt for a few days. That was a terrible idea.
  4. What’s one thing that you’ve done that you once thought was impossible? Run a Full Marathon. When I weighed 295 pounds I NEVER thought I would be able to run a mile or two, let alone 26.2 all at once. But I did! Nothing is impossible.
  5. What are some of your go-to motivational sayings or mantras? “I can do anything for an hour.” “The time will pass anyway.” “Why not go out on a limb? That’s where the fruit is!”

I’m tagging breatherunliverasmtazberry24thatsminethankyouxfitlibrarian and getittogetherg to answer the following questions:

  1. What is your favorite book or series?
  2. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
  3. What’s your guilty pleasure?
  4. What is the most random thing about you? Random talent?
  5. Can you play a musical instrument? Which one? If not, what would you like to learn how to play?

Have fun!!

Six Things

The super cool Christian at a-yogi-who-wods tagged me in this. So here you go:

  1. One Song: “Cheyenne” Jason DeRulo. I have the tendency to listen to songs over and over again until I can’t stand them. This one is my latest obsession.
  2. Two Movies: Get Over It and The Goonies. Great Flicks.
  3. Three Shows: Mistresses (So soapy, I love it!) Rizzoli and Isles, & New Girl
  4. Four Artists: Justin Timberlake (for always), Ingrid Michaelson, Haim, Maroon 5
  5. Five Foods: Avocados, French Toast, My mom’s meatloaf, cheese, and Jr. Mints.
  6. Six People: Has everyone done this? If not, consider yourself tagged.

Do I need this dress tumblr?! It’s got a bit of the va-va-va-voom factor going on…

I went looking for dresses for another wedding, and when I tried this one on I felt like I looked like I needed a flower behind my ear, like a Spanish dancer?! I feel so sexy in it! But I really don’t think it’s wedding appropriate….

Well, that’s interesting!

Are our lawmakers so bored they had to read my blog??

I get readers from random places, Fox News Channel (I’m not kidding) Nebraska State Government (that’s odd, who are you??) and several different colleges and university campuses around the country. (so, so random!) I have a lot of dedicated readers, who don’t follow me on tumblr apparently, they just come here to read every day. Some times multiple times a day. Talk about pressure!

It is really interesting to see what they’re reading. Or how they found me. Don’t be shy, say hi! I got over it a long time ago that people I know in real life read (and most likely) make fun of my blog. Whatever dude. You do you. I’ll do me. I’m in a good place in my life, can you say the same?
