GPOY.

I’m having a really good hair day, and you need to see it. Also, I like how the light hits my hair in this shot.

Busy day ahead of our annual winter board meeting in Omaha this weekend. We leave tomorrow afternoon and they’ll put us up in a hotel in Omaha (45 minutes away) for 2 nights for the meeting. Should be informative and interesting.

Happy hump day friends!

Unexpected mail is the best kind of mail!

My bestie sent me this card. Love her!

Tonight’s 6X800 speed work was A STRUGGLE. My legs are TIRED. My body is about 500% done with running right now. Tomorrow is a rest day, I seriously need it.

I’m off to bed, my body aches and I’m tired. Night friends!

Tuesday Things

  • Week 8 of Hanson’s and I’m feeling that cumulative fatigue. My legs are tired. I’m drinking that terrible Tart Cherry juice (gross) too. I have 6.5 miles of speed work tonight. (BIG SIGH). I don’t wanna. Wah-Wah. Suck it up Melissa.
  • On the plus side? I think I’m going to take Stand-up Paddleboarding classes at the Campus Rec center!! They’re only $50 for 3 one hour classes on Sunday afternoons in March. The last one is the 15th, which is the day before my Birthday on the 16th. I consider that a cool way to spend my Birthday weekend.
  • Have you heard about this? My mom called me today to discuss this as a possible way to help me lose the weight I’d like to shed. Eat more fiber, eat more protein, eat less carbs, eat less meat, eat more meat. I can’t keep track anymore! I suppose the fiber thing is worth a try.
  • I really enjoy the beginning of relationships. When guys are working to “get you” and text you funny or cute things throughout the day to let you know they’re thinking about you. Gets me every time. Why does that (usually) go away when they actually “get you”?
  • In that same vein, my bestie told me back in September that I “like guys who are a*$holes.” And that I don’t know what to do when men are nice to me. That’s why I end things with guys that really like me, but I don’t like. Because I can’t handle men being nice to me.

Mind. Blown.

  • Whether or not that’s true (I don’t think it is, I’ve just manage to date a lot of jerks) she is right with some of it; I don’t know what to do when men are nice to me like that in relationships. When they are sweet, or listen with the intent to hear, not just to reply, or don’t play mind games. I just don’t know how to react. Gettin’ deep here.

Have a great day friends!!

I’m Famous!!

Have you ever wondered to yourself, “what does Melissa sound like?” Well, here’s your chance to find out!! Lucky, lucky you! HAHA!

This is the video I shot last week for my church announcements. I tried to be funny. Don’t judge how tired I look. It was at the end of a long day!

No one can ever seem to do them in 3 minutes, and I totally nailed it…hence the timer next to my head!

Also, hair flip, FTW!!

What brand & model treadmill do you use?

Oh hi there Anon! I have a NordicTrack C2000. Keep in mind this bad boy is about 12 years old. It was my mom and dads but after my mom developed a back problem she wasn’t able to use it, and they let me have custody right now.
I’ve used it since I started running years ago so I’m quite curious as to how many miles are on the odometer! She still works, despite some minor issues over the years. I highly recommend NordicTracks!

When the treadmill time resets, you know you’ve been on it too long.

Long 10 mile run today. 11:46/mile pace. This was a mental game for the first 5 or so miles. Then my mind went into my happy place and I forgot I was running. I’m guessing that’s the runner’s high? Whatever it was, it was nice to zone out and just run.

And boom. Top of the Fitbit leaderboard. 20,000+ steps in a day will do that for you!

I hope you all have a happy and enjoyable Valentine’s day! 😉

Conversations with my friend Rob.

He was telling me about a girl he likes who he says is an 8 or a 9. He claims he’s a high 4. Which is totally ridiculous–he’s the best and a total 10!

Curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to know where he thought I was on the scale of 1-10.

Clearly, he’s buttering me up for something! But he said I’m a 12. I’ll take it! 🙂

He’s totally right, I have quite the dating history (you guys haven’t even heard HALF of it! Oy!) And that hairflip of mine? Totally a patented move. 😉

Guys! I got a Valentine today!!!
And from the cutest boy….my 8-year-old nephew Jon!

He told me on Sunday that he was going to do his Valentine’s for his class that afternoon. So I told him to send me one. And he actually told his mom and followed through!

Freaking adorable. I love that kid. He’s the best. And even though I’m single…I still have a Valentine this year!

Also, Lego Star Wars Valentine’s? Yes please!
