BREAKING NEWS!!

Major Life Changes Ahead!

After nearly 11 years in The TV News Biz (8 of them as the Senior Producer) I’m finally leaving The Ocho. As of August 11th, I’m going to be the Membership Director for a National Non-Profit Agency Based in Lincoln. I’m so excited for the new challenges that lie ahead…and to have holidays and weekends off! 🙂

Journalism is a wonderful career field, but I have found that it’s time for me to do something different that still utilizes my skills. The burnout rate for TV News Producers is 4-7 years…and I’ve been doing it for 8! I decided it was time for a change.

Just wanted to share my amazing news with my friends!! Thanks for all your support!

Happy Friday Five!

  1. Before and After shots. Because I post a lot of sweaty selfies and sometimes I think I clean up nice too. Hot, humid and sweaty run this morning. 71 degrees at 6am? Ugh. All the sweat. Last night’s Froyo dinner was MAGIC because I’m down a pound! I’ll take it! 🙂
  2. My dressy shorts I wore to work today are actually longer than my running shorts. Huh. I’m loving my outfit. Feelin’ nautical or something like that.
  3. Working at Corky tonight! Haven’t been there in FOREVER! Miss those ladies.
  4. I really want to go shopping for more clothes. So many sales right now. Somebody stop me!
  5. It’s Friday. I’m in a good mood. Hope you’re feeling the same way friends!

Today has been a pretty good day.

This morning, one of our interns asked me if my hair was naturally curly. I told her nope, the curling iron makes it this way. She said she loved my hair and thought it was naturally curly and pretty. Made my day! Occasionally, I do make an effort!

I did some video coding work for my former college Professor-turned-friend a few months ago. Its for a thesis project she’s working on about bias in the media. I worked 5 total hours on the project and got paid $55! Whoo-hoo!

This afternoon, my friend Rob helped me move a couch I bought off of a Facebook home goods sale group. Its a gorgeous red micro-suede and it cost me a whopping $80! It’s going in our basement, but is currently sitting in the garage until we can take the door off and get it down there. I think I’m going to call the couch “Big Red”.

I went for a 2 mile quick little run when I got home from work. It was hot. The wind was warm, and its going to be even hotter tomorrow: 94 degrees! So of course I then had Froyo for dinner. I win. 🙂

Have a wonderful night friends!

And then there was one.

becky-balances left around 5:30 this morning. lindsaydoeslife took her to the airport in Omaha for her next flight to her next adventure.

It has been 5 amazing days with some wonderful women. I hate the hashtag but I have to use it. I really am #blessed.

The girls will be thrilled to know that I took my car in to get my brakes checked. Good news! They’re fine! So I didn’t have to run those yellow lights! 😉

Have a great Tuesday friends!

My Tribe is full of amazing people. If you didn’t know, I was lucky enough to have some of my favorite people come stay for the weekend at my house. (As I write this, Becky is still here!! Extended weekend, I’m a lucky girl!) Two of my amazing Lincoln Tumblrs were here this weekend as well. But they stayed at their houses! 🙂

  • We ran a race. It proved that Nebraska is NOT flat! It’s hilly, humid and kind of hot sometimes. (99 degrees Sunday, 105 degree heat index!)
  • There was snuggling with my favorite gals. There were fireworks. (no, not THAT kind! The kind that make it sound like we’re in a war zone!)
  • We ate burgers and brunch and froyo. We played Cards Against Humanity. We shimmied and tried on Cornhusker Corn Heads. We swam and lounged and wore bikinis and didn’t feel self conscious because we’ve worked darn hard for these bodies!
  • Brooke left. We were sad. So we shopped and took selfies.
  • And then Ginni left. And Becky and I went swimming at my mom and dad’s house because it was fires-of-hades hot outside.
  • Then Monday came. So Becky and I ran my 5k route through my hilly ‘hood. I went to work. And Becky worked from (my) home.
  • Then the skies looked like this. A swirling mix of angry skies and beautiful seas. The heavens opened up and we got a thunderstorm.
  • This girl leaves me tomorrow. How will I survive after they’re all gone?

These people. This weekend. Tumblr is the best.

Brownville was adorable, I ran my first 10k (because lololol everyone runs a marathon before getting around to that, right?), Canada sunglasses on the Fourth of July, flat course, fruit breakfast, laughs, and a quick trip over the Missouri state line.

look at that short canadian in the last picture!  🙂

either melissa or ginni must have farted in that first picture…..or they just don’t like each other enough to be closer to each other 🙂

I have space issues. It’s fine.

Excuse me, I did NOT fart! I’m a lady!
We were simply protecting the flowers!
