Oh, hello!

Do you see anything different?? The glasses perhaps? Well, let me tell you about those. I’ve been experiencing a lot more migraines and headaches recently, along with eyes that are getting pretty tired by the end of the day. I thought there was nothing that I could do about it, and moved on. Especially since I have 20/20 vision (doctor confirmed!) and I have to work on a computer all day.

Enter Felix Gray. They have glasses that are just for the computer. They are non-prescription and they filter out the blue light that causes issues with sleep and eye strain, and headaches. I’m only on day two, but so far, so good. At $95 a pair, they certainly aren’t cheap, but they are nice. If you want, you can get them as reading glasses with magnification as well. They also now have prescription glasses, for those who need them.

In other news…

My trip home was fantastic! My mom and I went wedding dress shopping, (I haven’t found the one yet, but we are getting closer), we shopped, and I had a wonderful time at my old roomie’s wedding. I even got my first-ever blowout, and I got my makeup professionally done. I added a bit more to my eyes and lined them before the wedding since I felt a little naked! And, I got to hang out with all of my favorite Ocho alums, and current employees.

So I have been doing some things that future Melissa will thank current Melissa for. And geez, being an adult is annoying.

I get paid every two weeks, so twice a year, there are three paycheck months. March was one of those months. I did my best to basically bank that third paycheck, and I totally nailed it. I got paid again today and I was able to transfer $1000 into savings. GO ME!!!

We’re meeting with the travel agent for our wedding tomorrow. We are trying to get everything figured out so that we can get people to start booking as soon as the time frame opens up. We are doing a destination wedding in the Maya Riviera in Mexico. This is basically all I have ever dreamed of when it comes to my wedding. (Actual wedding site at the resort we are going to!! I feel like I’m dreaming!!)

I paid off my credit card earlier this month. Now the goal is to keep a zero balance on it. I have an amazing credit score (800′s!) and I lost like 12 points when I bought my treadmill and got the 0% interest financing. Grrr.

I started taking collagen twice a day a few weeks ago. It may be the placebo effect, but my nails are longer and stronger, my hair doesn’t seem to be falling out as much as it usually did, and my skin is looking awesome! A friend was going on about how it was glowing at the wedding this weekend. She said I look like I’m her age (29!) and as a freshly minted 36-year-old, I will take it!

I’ve also found a new eye cream that makes me feel like my faint eye wrinkles might be disappearing! If anyone even wants to know what brands I’ve bought and used, I will let you know, but for now, I will not assume that you care!

Alright friends, I’ve gotta get some things done. Have a great Friday eve!

OOTD’s and other fun facts

  • This weather is confusing. It feels like fall. 54 degrees at 630am?
  • I don’t know what drives some people to come out of the woodwork when you haven’t spoken to them in months.
  • I will pay off my credit card NEXT MONTH! I should pay off my other one in the next few months as well. Adulting FTW.
  • runningfortheriesling and abitofsilliness have both posted about finding and realizing when you’re at your Happy Weight. I don’t think that it is a coincidence that these posts happened so close together. I think I needed to see them. Because I think I’m think there. What. A. Revelation.
  • Sushi date tonight with my dear friend Linda for an early birthday celebration. I’m so excited! Sushi happy hour is THE BEST.
  • I feel like my teeth look super big in that second picture. Thanks Snapchat.
  • My cell phone is still discharging like a boss. I’m down 12% in about 45 minutes. I feel like that’s excessive.
  • Only 7 more work days then I’m off for 9 glorious days!! (Weekends included) There will be a lot of pool time, running at convenient hours, and sleeping in. Staycations are pretty awesome.

Happy Hump Day friends

This post is important

Because running and I have been fighting lately. When my life gets busy I tend to find it hard to balance working out and everything else. So something tends to fall by the wayside. That has been running lately.

But I’ve been doing better this week: I ran a very hot and humid 2.15 miles last night after work. I got up at 6am and did another 2.15 miles this morning before work. I’m not setting any land speed records, and I’m certainly not running a lot of bulk mileage. But I’m getting out there and I’m doing something. And I consider that a win. I’m also in a good body place–I’m down 5 pounds. Yes, I’d like to lose about 5 more, but the world will not end if I don’t. I’m comfortable in my skin. And I think that’s what really matters.

A few things:

  • My roomie asked the landlords if she could get a dog. They acquiesced…adding on a $250 pet deposit and carpet cleaning. I don’t want the dog and am not paying for it nor will I pay the deposit. It’s not that I don’t love dogs, but I just don’t want the responsibility. What does that say about me as a 33 year old woman?? Whatever.
  • I bought a washer and dryer. My dad is picking them up and bringing them over on Friday. I’m actually super excited about this level of adulting.
  • I have another wedding this weekend. My co-worker is getting married. I’m wearing the dress I wore to the wedding 2 weeks ago. No shame in my game. It’s supposed to be 96 degrees on Saturday. POOL TIME!
  • In a weird way, I don’t like the first day of summer. It means that the days will start getting shorter. I’m not trying to be a pessimist…but I love the build up to most events–I have a hard time enjoying the actual event. Does that make sense? I love summer and everything about it. But I just have a hard time knowing that, eventually, winter is coming. Maybe I’m just a realist??

On that note, have a good Friday Eve friends!

Wednesday Things

  • I am struggling this morning. Why is it that EVERY SINGLE TIME I run long I can’t sleep at night? You would think that it would have the opposite effect. But nope, not for me. The Struggle is REAL!
  • Rest days are the best days. I have a massage after work and I’m pumped. I believe we will focus on my legs this go-around.
  • Last night’s Strength workout was decent–it was warm, 77 degrees at 4pm, sunny without a cloud in the sky. I was hot. In other news, my shorts tan is coming along quite nicely.
  • So, yesterday was filled with a lot of adulting. I got both of my tax refunds on Monday and got paid on Tuesday…I have never seen my bank account look that healthy before!! With this influx of cash I paid off my Student Loans, made a sizable payment to my credit card (that should be paid off this summer!!) and transferred money into savings. I feel so fiscally responsible. 🙂
  • Last night was BIZ-EEE. I left work early to run, then ran home, changed quickly and went to see Insurgent with my friend. I then came home and promptly fell into bed. Living the dream.
  • I’m wearing a dress today. It is crazy windy. I discovered this was not the best possible choice when I walked out the door and my skirt nearly flew up! I live on a very busy street. Oy. I yelped, dropped my bag and grabbed my dress to hold it down. I caught it just before anyone saw anything, but still! The walk to the parking garage should be interesting this afternoon!

Happy Hump Day (really my Thursday!) Friends!
