That’s how you start a weekend, right? With a 30 mile bike ride??

The BF and I hit the trails and just kept going. Despite wearing padded shorts, my booty is sore, my back aches, and I’m exhausted.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
(We made those faces because the BF accidently made a wrong turn and we ended up on the railroad tracks😒).

Happy weekend friends!

Who am I?

I went for a short run before work this morning, then I showered and packed my things and RODE MY BIKE TO WORK.

Yep. That happened. I bought a new one this weekend and knew that it would be easier than trying to ride my old one (from when I was 15!). It’s 3.85 miles from my house to work and I did the ride in 25 minutes, while waiting for several lights to change on the way.

I’m so proud of myself!!!😊😎😃

Perfect Sunday

2 mile Run this morning before church. I wanted 5 miles, but woke up late and settled for 2.

After a quick target run I hit my favorite produce stand for another watermelon and peaches. The girl at the stand remembered me AND she had a dachshund puppy! (my parents have 2 of them, and they are THE best dogs! This precious little girl was named Fern. I bought a black diamond watermelon. Try them, they’re delicious!

Then my friend Keith and I went on a quick little bike ride through the park. It is a gorgeous sunny Sunday.

Next up? Keith and I are grabbing dinner. Burritos!

Tomorrow is my mom’s test, so I’m praying pretty hard today. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Thanks friends!

Rules of the Road

I’ve always been told that when you’re out running you should run against traffic. Because I run on busy streets, I run on the sidewalks. And as I understand it, bicyclists are supposed to ride their bikes in the street WITH the flow of traffic, right?

In fact, the city of Lincoln made special bike lanes through parts of the city, just so bikers can be safe as they ride throughout town. They ride with traffic.

So imagine my surprise when every morning this week on my runs I’ve nearly been run over by bicyclists while I was running on the sidewalk AGAINST the flow of traffic! Only 1 of the 3 even had the courtesy to say “on your left” before they barreled past me. I have my music on, but low enough to hear people and traffic for safety reasons. So that’s not why I didn’t hear them…they just didn’t say anything!

Now I ride my bike too. I’m all for biking. I just think we should all be safe and share the road. Am I right?

/end rant.

Scenes from my 11 mile bike ride this afternoon.

It was 60° here and I just couldn’t face going for a run. My motivation to run has been severely lacking right now. I don’t know why and I’m just trying to power thru anyway. But seeing as it’s nice out and I haven’t biked for months I decided that sounded good.

It started raining the instant I got on my bike and didn’t stop until I got home. As a matter of fact, the sun is out now! I Was covered in dirt. My hair was even matted with it in my ponytail down my back. But, 11 miles are done and my shower felt great! And I got out there and did something, despite not wanting to run! Small victories people!

Happy Saturday friends!

“I want to ride my bicycle…”

I want to ride my bike! I haven’t ridden a bike in YEARS. Like 15 years. I had all kinds of excuses. It hurt my butt, I didn’t like it. Etc.

But I began training for the Chicago Marathon last week and my schedule said that I should cross train on Sundays. And I decided that I would get out the ol’ bike and head out for some miles.

I have no idea why I waited so long to “get back on the bike!” I had such a good time! I went 10.2 miles in just over 58 minutes. I felt like I was flying! My fastest pace was 18.1 miles per hour. What an amazing feeling!

I feel a little guilty that instead of my 3 running miles that I have on the schedule for tomorrow, I really want to get the bike out again! I kind of feel like I’m having an affair with my bike. Like I’m cheating on running!

Me after my ride on Sunday. It was great!

Have a good week friends!
