This is 36

  • Today is my birthday, and while I have been kinda dreading it/not really caring much about it, I am actually genuinely excited and enjoying the day!
  • The Women’s Hockey Team at the University where I work (Clarkson University) are playing in the Frozen Four today and Sunday, defending their Division 1 National Championship title from last year. They’re really good and are going for their 3rd National Championship since 2014. So today has a relaxed, gameday vibe ahead of spring break week.
  • I can tell that I NEVER do my hair because upon walking in this morning I was complimented on my ‘do no less than 4 times right in a row! One woman was fawning over me and said she loved the color (there’s red and a hint of purple in there) and how “stunning” I look in my green shirt and with my hair and my eyes. Totally made my day! Note to self: make more of an effort in the morning!
  • My boo is out of town for work but we will celebrate my birthday when he gets home tomorrow. Tonight, I’m having dinner with friends and will just chill with the dogs. I’m totally ok with it. #adulting
  • Plans also include running 3.6 miles (for 36 years) and doing my pushups.
  • Is anyone else SUPER EXCITED that “The Greatest Showman” comes out on Digital on March 20th?? I know what I’m doing Tuesday night!!

Have a great weekend, friends!

On the eve of the my 35th Birthday…

Turning 35 feels weird. I didn’t have a hard time turning 30. I actually kind of embraced it. I felt like I was coming into my own. Like I knew myself better and who I was, and what I was doing with my life. But 35? 35 feels….strange. Like I don’t feel settled about it. I’m not sure that I’m where I thought I would be when I thought of age 35. (Are we ever, though?) Oh well. It’s fine. I’ll get over it.

It’s going to be a low-key birthday. I’m working, then my friend Linda is taking me out to lunch, and my boyfriend is taking me out to dinner. Pretty chill day and night. Next weekend I am going to see Billy Joel with my parents so my family will celebrate my birthday then. I don’t mind, I like making it last.

In other news, spin is still awesome. I have been going about 4 times a week. I have been running a bit too. And the best part is, I’m FASTER! Love that side effect!

Things are good in my little corner of the world, hope they are for you too!

Sometimes, the internet is a beautiful place that brings the most wonderful people into your life.

One of those people is @running-matt
He is one of my favorite people on this planet. And someone that I genuinely adore.

My roomie texted me that I had gotten flowers, but who could the be from?! I spent the afternoon wondering and when I finally got home to open the box I discovered a dozen red roses and found the card from Matt.

You guys. He’s the best. Matt…I just love you. Thank you for everything. For your friendship, the flowers, everything. I’m so glad to know you. Even if we’ve never actually met!

Birthday Shenanigans

I’m having a pretty fantastic birthday so far, thank you friends!!!
From all the texts, posts, and messages…I feel the love!! 🙂

We started celebrating Saturday night and haven’t stopped yet! A quick recap of my weekend:

A warm Saturday night (it was in the 60′s) meant we ate dinner at a local restaurant on the patio before we hit the bar to dance the night away to one of my favorite bands. I dig the Rocker Chick/Biker Chick vibe I’ve got going on here. 🙂

There were test tube shots of “Shark bait”, (it tasted like grape kool-aid) dancing and singing along to great songs with my friends. It was a pretty fabulous night.

Sunday morning I woke up with a migraine (boo) but spent the day with my family. My mom and dad made one of my favorite meals: Pot Roast! (So freaking good). I opened a few presents, hung out with my parent’s dogs, and even took a nap! All in all, a pretty solid Sunday. I also totally skipped my Easy 5 miler. No regrets. It was 80 degrees and sunny here so I took a walk to compensate.

Today I walked into my office to discover my co-worker Rob had outdone himself with decorations. I love it! I’ve gotten gifts from all of my co-workers and my favorite card has sparkles, has a tiara and says “I. am. the. birthday. Princess.” Yup. That’s me! 🙂 My co-worker brought in things to make your own yogurt parfait because she knows I’m not a cake person. (I think cake and cupcakes are kind of dry. I much prefer ice cream!) Please note the Jr. Mints. My FAVORITE.

It’s going to be close to 90 degrees here today! (I don’t think it has EVER been that warm on my birthday!) So I dressed accordingly. I plan on enjoying it with an easy run later today.

Also, when you’re signed into Google, they make your own special Google Doodle for your birthday! How great is that??!?!

Anyway, Thanks for the birthday wishes friends! I’m having a pretty fantastic day! Here’s to 33!

Scenes from my birthday weekend:

My mom posted a few baby pictures of me. These gems were my favorite. I was a happy little baby. Until you made me come inside and stop playing in the dirt! I’m fairly sure I was eating some of that dirt.

Also picture: Me with the sign at work, they always put your name and birthday on the sign…its nice!

Our family tradition is to spell out how old you are with that same number of candles. There are 32 candles on that cake. I blew them all out in one breath! Running has given me awesome lung capacity! 😉

Also pictured: we had a girls night out for my birthday: Sushi and dancing. This is a group pic of all of us.

And lastly, me. I felt hot. Sexy even. The man named Jake who hit on me at the nightclub agreed: he kept running his hands on my hips and back and he told me I had a “sexy little body."

What a great freakin’ weekend! Cheers to the rest!

I’ve been a little MIA…sorry friends! 🙂

We like to celebrate birthdays here at The Ocho!

They always put our names on the sign in the lobby, and my amazing coworkers decorated my desk and brought puppy chow, donuts, and treats! I love the flowers!
I feel so loved! Getting older doesn’t have to be so bad! 🙂
Not only that, but its Friday, its payday, and its gorgeous out!

My birthday weekend is off to a very auspicious start!

This weekend was full of birthday celebrations and it was awesome. Saturday night we did a group dinner and then went out to karaoke. The main anchor at my TV station is a great karaoke singer. He sang me the song “Take Me Home Tonight” By Eddie Money. The catch? I had to go up with him and sing the line “Be my little baby…”

My co-workers recorded it and aired it Sunday night and this morning on the news! I was mildly embarrassed that thousands of people heard me sing. But then decided, ‘oh well’ and I knew I had to share it you all!

Enjoy friends!
