I have this weather alert app that one of my meteorologists had me download in case of severe weather. It popped up with this warning today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen temperatures of 104°! Oy!

Everybody complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it.
Mark Twain
You know what? It’s hot out. But it’s summertime, it’s July and I’m in Nebraska. And winter sucks. So I’m going to stop complaining about the weather and enjoy it. Because summer will end, time marches on, leaves change colors, days will get shorter and I will long for the warmth of the hot summer sun on my face.
So I’m embracing the heat and all it has to offer…hot sunny days, warm summer nights, afternoons spent in the pool, sticky sweet summery drinks. Sundresses, flowers, a warm, gentle breeze, the smell of sunscreen and freshly cut grass.
Happy Summer friends!
One of my dogs woke up just before 5:00 this morning by barking up a storm in the living room. When I let her out, I noticed it was beginning to get light out…ish. Still dark, but dawn was coming, you know? And I realized that it was already very warm and muggy. So I was thisclose to putting on my clothes and going for my run then, instead of at my usual time of 630am. I dismissed the idea as crazy, even for my running-obsessed self. So I convinced the dog to come back in, despite all the fun she was having barking and running around outside, and we went back to bed.
By the time I started my run at 630, it was heating up even more, and I only made it 2 miles, due to heat and ridiculously high humidity.
Lesson learned from today?
I should have listened to the dog.
It is 100 degrees here today. Heat index of 110. Humidity is something like 70%. Its a blast furnance out there. And there is no relief in sight. Stay cool ya’ll!

My view on this gorgeous afternoon! Perfect afternoon to spend in the pool! Ahhh…bliss!
