11 Questions

The awesome Rich at keepgoinggreen tagged me in this on Friday. I tend to fly off the radar on weekends so I’m catching up today!

Here goes nothing!

1.  What is the best concert you have ever been to? Hands down, Justin Timberlake the FutureSex/LoveSounds Tour back in the day. I had floor seats about 10 feet away from JT himself. I died.

2.  Do you play a musical instrument?  (Or did you as a kid)? I played French Horn and Trumpet. I hated both with a passion. So I quit after 2.5 years.

3.  Let’s talk about ceilings for a minute.  Would you rather have a Ceiling that Can’t Hold ya or be Dancing’ on the Ceiling? This is a funny story with Rich and I after I edited a music video to the first song I HATE that song! However, I’d rather dance on the ceiling!

4.  Farm Aid or Band Aid? Band-Aid. Feed the World!!!

5.  Who is one band or musician that you have never seen perform live but you wish you could?  (they can be dead or alive) Hmm… I feel like it would be pretty amazing to see the original Beatles perform live.

6.  Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo or Glastenbury? Since IDK what the last two are…I guess Lollapalooza?

7.  If you had to pick one genre of world music to listen to non-stop for a month which would you pick and why?  (And by world music I mean something that is not part of your current daily culture on the radio where you live). I think J-Pop. I feel like that type of music would be similar to things that I currently listen to now.

8.  Would you rather:  Not be able to Feel Your Face or not be able to Fight This Feeling Anymore? Not be able to fight this feeling. Sometimes you just gotta give in! 😉

9.  What is your current favorite band or musician? That’s hard to narrow down, JT for always, but if you mean music that is out currently, I like a lot of Jason DeRulo songs.

10.  Do you listen to music while working out, running, etc?  If so what kind and is that different than what you listen to while you are not being active? Yes. I run to a lot of pop music, but also there are some show tunes mixed in there. I listen to the same stuff when I run as when I don’t.

11.  Ask yourself your own music related question and include the answer.

Favorite guilty pleasure music? I listen to Christmas music starting in November. No Shame. No shame at all. 😉

This was fun, Thanks Rich!

Words are powerful

I forwarded this article to my co-worker who is also running the Lincoln Half on Sunday. She’s a runner too. She gets it. I read her what I wrote on here..how I had I never thought I could do a Full, how successfully running a Marathon changed me, and how I cried when I finished, and how they were threatening to fall once again, just by reading that article.

She told me that SHE was about to cry and had chills from my words. It surprised me. Something I wrote did that to her. Later, I was talking to another co-worker about the Marathon and the article, and read her what I wrote. She said the same thing; she had tears in her eyes and told me how inspiring I am.

It’s so easy for me to brush that off; to not see the impact that we each have on each other. But we do. We all do. And that’s awesome.

@keepgoinggreen said: Its so interesting – because we met the day before your marathon. I did not know any of your back story and I already saw: an athlete, a runner, someone with a great attitude and someone who I never once doubted was going to finish the next day!

Rich- Thank you so much! This made my day! That you saw/see me as an athlete and someone with a great attitude? I love that! Thank you.

earlybirdnow said: This makes me want to do a marathon…

Sharon-It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but so incredibly worth it. If you like distance running and want to challenge yourself, then I highly recommend it. It is amazing what the human body and spirit are capable of.

My current view.

I’m editing videos for my friend again. Luckily Rich, it’s not another music video! I might pull my hair out! At $100 a pop, I’ve got 3 done, and 3 to go…for $600 big ones! Christmas money FTW!

He said he wants me to do 2 more, I’ll see what i can get done before Tuesday night! I’m all about making a little extra cash! 🙂

Needless to say, I’m looking for some distraction. Anything you wanna know? Just ask!

Nice rig! I just drooled all over the windoze laptop I’m subjected to at work looking at that thing.

I’ve always wanted to do voice over work… is that weird? Pretty sweet.

I wish I could edit videos. It seems like it would be fun.

Nah nah nah nah na na na nah heeeeyyyyyyyy can we go back….
Thanks guys! It IS a pretty great setup! However, Its already gone from my house! 😦 He said it was worth about $8500! Yikes!
And doing voice over work is pretty cool—so is editing. I’d rather do the Voice Over work though–all I have to do is read the copy and send it to him. He edits it, I don’t have to! Editing video is my least favorite part of my day job.
Its  very time consuming.

And thank you Rich, I had FINALLY gotten that song out of my head!! 😉

11 Questions-I was tagged by @Becky-Balances

1. Do you have a tattoo? If yes, post a pic. If no, what would you consider getting?

I do not have a tattoo. I’ve never wanted one. I don’t do pain and I’ve never found something that I would want on my body forever.

2. If you could see any band/artist in concert, who would you choose?

Justin Timberlake. I love love love him. I saw NSYNC in concert 3 times and Justin once, the last time he went on tour.

3. I’ve got two tickets to paradise. Where are we going?

Hawaii. Hands down. I was there in 2010 for 10 days and I never wanted to leave. It really is paradise. Blue skies, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters. It’s my definition of paradise. Let’s go!

4. What or who is your spirit animal?

Hmm. This one is hard. I’d say What would have to be a dog. I love them, all of them. Dogs are the best. Who-maybe my soulmate Bailee. She gets me. I like that about her.

5. What do you love most about your job?

I love that it is completely inappropriate at my workplace. I’m talking about we say and touch each other inappropriately and it’s fine. It’s always fine. I don’t know if I could work anywhere else. These people are my family. I also like that I can be very creative and nobody is constantly on my back about the news or content. I’m allowed to run my own show(s). For the most part!

6. Where is your happy place?

I have several: my parent’s pool. Just laying on my floatie, soaking up the sun, lazing away the afternoon. Or at Ft. Kearny State Rec area here in Nebraska. My family would go camping there every summer when I was a kid up through college. It has hundred year old cotton wood trees, gravel pit lakes and its calm, gorgeous and beautiful. I’m relaxing just thinking about it.

7. Book or movie?

Book. Hands down. I love reading. My library is enormous.

8. Time for some humblebragging…what’s your favorite personal accomplishment thus far?

That would have to be that I have successfully lost and kept off 150 pounds since October of 2011. It has been a hard journey but I am so happy and glad that I did. Totally worth it and the best thing I’ve ever done–even better than completing a Full marathon.

9. What are you looking forward to in the next month?

Well, in less than 24 hours I’m going to Fargo with Bailee, Brooke and Johnna. I’m pretty excited about that! Also, next week I start my new PT job at the Corky Canvas! I’m excited for that!

10. Do you have siblings?

I do, one older brother Chris. He’s 34.

11. What’s one of your favorite college memories?

It would have to be all the video projects that I made that starred my roommate. She was a good sport, and did things like jump off of dressers, just for the sake of my projects!

If you read this, consider yourself tagged. And since, I’m a little busy at work, I will just use the same questions!

I love you guys!

You all sure know how to make a girl feel good about herself! Thank you all so much!

You look great!

Love the outfit! See you in under 2 days!! 🙂

You are looking good!

….wow!

Not a sassy pant in sight!

If I wear white anything below the waist I will sit in ketchup. Guaranteed!

Thanks everyone! You are all so wonderful! And LOL Rich, no sassy pants at all! 😉 And Jen, I’m always so worried when I wear that skirt…but so far, so good! 🙂 And Brooke, I can’t wait! It’s almost here!!!!!!

In other news, I went for my final run before Fargo tonight. 85 degrees outside…no humidity, but I was sweating up a storm! You know how sometimes when you run, you feel like you don’t know how to run? Like your body just forgot how to do it? And you feel all out of sorts? Maybe that’s just me. But anyway, I felt that way tonight. Like my body wasn’t firing on all cylinders or something. But it always feels that way until about 2 miles in.  So it sucks when my run is only 2 miles long! By the end of the run I was good–At one point I was running an 8:35 pace! I was flying! I think its true about running and life; you have to keep going through the bad times to get to the good ones.  You WILL come out on the other side of it if you can persevere. Running lessons=life lessons.

On that note, I’m going to bed. Have a great night friends! Thanks again for being so wonderful!

The Dating Game

So I had a date last night with a new guy….after the marathon! I’m a champ! 😉  It was fun. We had a good time. I met Holli, Steph and Lindsay for an early dinner where I ate about 2/3rds of my salad and then went to meet Bachelor #…well, at this point I have no idea what number we’re on anymore! We went to Texas Roadhouse and sat at the bar ordered an appetizer and drinks. I drank water–hydration please!

We had a good time, laughed a lot and talked about a lot of topics. He’s 35, divorced and has a daughter. Does this sound familiar? It should, just like Douche Bag Scott! I seem to attract these single dads. But unlike DBS, he appears to be good people. We shall see.

He texted me about a half hour after I got home and told me it was great to meet me, and that if I wanted, he’d like to go out again. I told him I would like that. We chatted a bit more and then that was it.

The strange thing? We are facebook friends and he posted a vague post today about it sucking when that special someone ignores you, and it sucks even more to pretend you don’t care.  I certainly don’t think he’s talking about me, as I haven’t heard from him today, and I was the last one to text him last night. So odd. But whatever.

My match subscription ends soon. I’m going to let it. This dating thing is oddly stressful and I think I need a break.

To answer some questions/address some things:

  • melanieisdoinglife said: That guy is nothing but trouble. Do you think he’s reading your blog? Good job using the anger as motivation!

Melanie-I totally agree-nothing but trouble! I don’t think he is reading this, and don’t really care. But if he is? I hope that he feels like crap. He deserves it! And thank you!!

  • keepgoinggreen said: He sent that message to make himself feel better. Just more proof he is a douche and its good you found out now. Proud of you for taking the high road as you already have your answer on Captain DoucheBag!!!

Rich-You are so right! I hadn’t thought about it like that until you said it. But he was doing it to make himself feel better. One of my friends said that he must have been torturing himself about it for the past 3 weeks and all the publicity about the Marathon made him think about me and he finally had to say something. Thank you so much for the support. He is Captain DB!

  • davidsgoals said: You done good. The race, him, all of it.

    David-Thank you! 🙂 You’re the best. 🙂

  • tinkerbellrun said: That was a perfect reply!

That’s what I thought too!! I showed restraint for once in my life! (pats self on the back!) 😉
