Thursday-The Working from Home Edition!

Hi guys! As I work to be a better blogger, which I actually blame on not being able to blog from work any more…but that’s no real excuse. But as I work to get back into this community I thought I would drop you a line and a photo as I work from home this morning.

  • I have ANOTHER dentist appointment, this time to take out the bad crown and put in a new one and that will hopefully resolve all of the troubles I have been facing lately. But my dentist is like 10 minutes from my house, and my work is the opposite direction, so I decided to do my morning work from home. It’s a lot quieter here and I’ve gotten a lot of things done…including my hair! 😉
  • Lincoln is a big small town. Saturday while my boyfriend and I were working concessions at the Husker game a guy I used to date came through my line. Of the 90,000 people at that stadium, and all the concession stands, he had to choose mine? Ugh.
  • Then, we decided to take a pedi-cab back to the car after standing for 7 hours. Of the 12 pedi-cabs that were waiting we got the guy that I made out with 3 New Year’s Eves ago….
  • I don’t think he remembered me, but it was so embarrassing!
  • I told my boyfriend later and he had to give me a hard time about it. When I said that he has kissed other girls before he said, “Nope. Just two.” I LOL’d at that!! Not bloody likely!!
  • I am running most days a week. The scale refuses to budge, and I know that’s because the miles are hard enough and I’m not strength training. I need to get myself back into it or I will be very unhappy soon.

Happy Thursday friends! Make it a great day!

+/- Tuesday

+ It is GORGEOUS here today. We’re talking 75, sunny, and a bit breezy.

+ I’m going for a run after work.

– I updated my Galaxy S5 and now it is running even slower and the battery is draining WHILE IT IS PLUGGED IN CHARGING. What am I supposed to do with that? You pushed the update, Verizon! Sheesh.

– My boyfriend’s (illegal resident) dog may have just gotten him evicted from his apartment. He’s currently looking at other places to rent while he waits for a decision from management. But we’re not holding our breath that they’ll be cool. She’s well over the 25lbs weight limit (73lbs).

+/- His birthday is Saturday. We might be moving him then. When it’s supposed to be 95 degrees. Lord help me.

+ I figured out what to get him for his birthday today and ordered it. Thanks to Amazon Prime it will be here Thursday.

Any good thoughts and prayers would be appreciated in the dog situation! Thanks friends!

Tuesday Things

  • During my run tonight I hit shuffle on my iPod. A dangerous game when you have Christmas music on there too! I was rewarded with some quality Mary J. Blige and Josie and The Pussycats, “Spin Around”. Excellent choices iPod.
  • I’m only on day 3 of my new shoes, but I always forget that I have to break my feet into my shoes, not the other way around. I’ve got ginormous blisters on the backs of my heels. Ouch. I was concerned about 2 miles in that my shoes were filling up with blood. It hurt less to run than walk so run I did. It was a decent run, even though I KNOW I had a pained expression on my face.
  • Next week I’m going to be House Sitting for a B&B. It’s owned my a former co-worker at the Ocho and her husband. Should be easy money and they have a hot tub! She told me I can use it, and eat and drink whatever I want! Even throw a party or two…as long as I don’t burn the house down! I will have guests 2 nights, but otherwise, should be a quiet week.
  • I was discussing the upcoming month in schedules with my mom. I’m booked pretty solid starting Friday until the second week in October. Geez!! Bachelorette parties (2), weddings (2), a half marathon (1), a trip to the Twin Cities for the Marathon (95% sure on that one!) a trip to Denver, and countless other daily life adventures that I can’t plan for. I’m already tired.
  • That doesn’t take into account a social life. I’m still trying to have one of those too. Maybe even date? We shall see…
  • I’ve been gone from the Ocho for a month now. So crazy. You know that quote that says something like “day after day everything seems the same, and then suddenly you look back and everything has changed?” That’s my life. So many changes. I think they’re all basically good. Some may not seem that way right now, but I know God’s plan for me is good.

I’m off to bed friends! That 4:20am alarm rings awfully early!

You just need to find your people.
‘Find my people?’
Your tribe.
You know, you spend your whole life feeling like you don’t quite fit in anywhere. And then you walk into a room one day, whether it’s at university or an office or some kind of club, and you just go, ‘Ah, there they are.’ And suddenly you feel at home.

Jojo Moyes, One Plus One

This spoke to me. You are all my people. My tribe. My chosen family. And I am so grateful that 3+ years ago I decided to spill my guts on the internet. I’ve met some wonderful people because of that choice. Cheers to this wild ride.

Sometimes, I go out on the town.
And sometimes, it’s a million degrees outside. So humid, it was like swimming. I’m sweaty and gross. But I got to wear shorts and a cute top to the bars! I consider that a win!

We had a going away party for my coworker who is done Wednesday. He’s moving back to Miami. We bar-hopped thru the Railyard in Lincoln. It’s like the plaza in KC but much smaller. Good times. It made me realize how much I’m going to miss working with these people each day.

Tears will fall next week.
