Well, well, well…Look who ran this weekend! It’s me!!

Just a couple of very chilly miles, but it’s better than sitting on the couch which is what I actually wanted to do.

I signed up at 3 o’clock this morning for the Lincoln Half marathon. It will be my 12th half overall and 6th Lincoln Half in a row. Training starts in a few weeks.

I did my hair today because I had time. So you guys get to see it!

Back to work tomorrow. I don’t really have the Sunday Sads…just wish I could go on vacation to somewhere warm!

Have a great evening friends!

I’m exhausted

This weekend was the BEST. I had such a good time and so much fun with my friends! Sam and I spent yesterday pretty much parked on the couch, involved in a marathon of a different sort: “Love it or List it” was on, one episode right after the other when we got home from our post-marathon massages. I don’t think we moved from the couch for about 4 hours. #sorryi’mnotsorry

It was so much fun spending time with my Brooke and Andrew again. Sister Wives for life!! Andrew is a trooper for putting up with a bunch of girls for 3 days. But he also had some of my favorite lines from the weekend…most involving my hair and Shaniqua (my car). He thinks I have fabulous hair…but not such a fabulous car. She’s got about 217k miles on her and tends to make funny noises (I say she purrs). Either way, its been paid off since 2008!!

Andrew was concerned that we were going to be Catfished by runningfortheriesling…I mean…we’ve never met her, does she truly exist?!?!  Good news, Sam is real, and she’s really awesome. One of the nicest, sweetest, coolest chicks I’ve met. I can’t wait to visit her and C in Montana!

two-o-nine is my Soul (sole) Sister. She lovingly paced me for this race. I generally don’t like to run with others as it tends to stress me out…but Brooke and I really don’t need to talk. We just ran and she gave me whatever kind of love I needed; tough or otherwise. I would have had an awesome PR if my heart condition and a weird foot ailment hadn’t of slowed me up starting at mile 8. I’m still very pleased with 2:35:56. It was sunny, hot, and humid. So that number is great for those conditions.

I finally got to meet lifekicksback and see funhappylife2 again! Such wonderful people and the sweetest guy–Chris was saying such wonderful things about Emily-made my heart happy! Sam and I had a breakfast date with them and it was fantastic. They are great friends and I’m lucky to know them.

My Lincoln girls lindsaydoeslife xfitlibrarian and victoriafindslife are my rocks. I don’t tell them that enough. I’m so glad we got to hang out all weekend and have such a blast. Linds, I don’t think I’ve told you enough, I’m so proud of you. You got this girl! Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

There are things I’m forgetting. We didn’t take a lot of pictures…you’ve seen most of them. But I’ve found that as I’ve done more of these Tumblr meet-ups that it is just about spending time with my friends…not documenting each moment. I’ve realized that it doesn’t matter how I’ve met these friends, what matters is that some twist of fate brought us all together. And that’s the best part.

A friend is one who knows you and loves you just the same.”

Note to self: ALWAYS wear a tutu for a race! I’ve never gotten so many comments from people while I was running. It was great!

This was such a great time! It was hot, sunny, and I didn’t PR, but I ran a 2:35:56 Half Marathon and I’m not mad about it.

two-o-nine Andrew, and runningfortheriesling have been wonderful houseguests! I wish my friends lived closer!!

Lunch today with lindsaydoeslife xfitlibrarian funhappylife2 lifekicksback victoriafindslife was pretty awesome! I love these people!

Well, that’s no good.

The Lincoln Marathon sends out info emails to all participants in the weeks before the race. This gem just popped into my inbox. Please don’t freak out two-o-nine and runningfortheriesling! We’ll be fine! In 2012 it thunderstormed until right before the race, then the skies cleared and the humidity shot through the roof. I still managed to PR my time that year! Positive thoughts!!!

The email says it will be in the upper 50′s at the start of the race at 7am, and the mid to upper 70′s by noon. (we should be long done by that point!) It gives hydration pointers and tells you flat out not to wear pants, sweatsuits, or long sleeves.

So…I’m thinking we get some Froyo Friday night AND post-race on Sunday?!??!?!

Pray for us friends. Brooke and Sam may never want to come back to Nebraska to visit me again if this race goes wrong!

Wednesday. Le Sigh

  • My email has crashed. It is “verifying data integrity” and currently at 55%. That’s been happening for the last hour. Oy. I can see where this day is going.
  • I got a text from a boy at 4:35am (he works as a contractor and gets up super early) Then I got another text from another boy at 5:50am (he’s leaving on a roadtrip to New York today. WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE UP SO EARLY AND TEXTING ME?!?! It’s a REST DAY! GAH! Note to self, turn your ringer off at bedtime!
  • I needed that Cuppa Chai Tea Latte this morning. So tired.
  • I’m rocking second day hair again. No shame in my game.
  • I have a pre-marathon massage after work today. Past Melissa is so smart for scheduling that!!
  • The Northern Invasion is happening SOON!! two-o-nine runningfortheriesling funhappylife2 and lifekicksback arrive Friday! Nebraska-polooza 2015 starts soon! I’m so excited!
  • lindsaydoeslife xfitlibrarian victoriafindslife We all have to go to the Pasta-thon together Saturday evening!!

Happy Hump Day!

Oh hey there Monday!

  • Instead of taking PTO for Friday, I’m just going in an hour early Monday through Thursday this week and then I’m leaving at 11am Friday morning to get Sam from the airport (I think runningfortheriesling gets into Lincoln at noon?) two-o-nine and Andrew will roll into town at some point in the morning–TBA at this point. CANNOT WAIT!
  • I don’t know why I’m saving my PTO–I get 180 hours a year, and that doesn’t include holidays or the 2 weeks that I get paid off at Christmas. Best job ever, or best job ever?!
  • The struggle to get up this morning was REAL. I decided that today could be a second day hair kind of day. I think it still looks alright–albeit a little flat! But it’s amazing how much faster I can get ready when I don’t have to wash and dry my hair!
  • I’m going to Orlando in June for a work conference. My co-worker is coming with me and we’re making a mini-vacation out of it–we’re going out one day early and staying one day late so we can hit Disney and Harry Potter World. I’m ridiculously excited!! A vacation that’s not surrounding a half marathon? Who am I?!?!
  • My phone battery had been draining pretty rapidly and I was concerned. Turns out I had left the High Accuracy mode on, so it would find my location fast. I turned it off, and viola! Magic! It doesn’t drain so fast. Good stuff.
  • I’m fairly sure I’m being Ghosted by the guy I went out with on a 2nd date with on Friday night. I’m not sure why, and I guess I don’t know for sure, but still, it sucks to be rejected and ghosted. Ugh.
  • HOWEVER! Things were fun with last night’s date. I’m not sure when I’ll see him again (maybe May 11th?) as we’re both crazy busy the next few weeks. He did straight up ask me when he could see me again. I like that. A lot. More guys should do that kind of thing. Confidence is sexy. But regardless, I enjoyed his company last night! 😉
  • runningforbiscuits commented on how flat Nebraska is. Well..it is, and it isn’t. The marathon route is mostly flat–but here’s the elevation chart:

When Brooke, becky-balances and getittogetherg were here in July for the Brownville Half, they all commented on how hilly Nebraska really is. I like to think of it as rolling hills. Mile 9 is where I hate myself for running this race. Every. Single. Year.

Happy Monday guys! Make it a great week!

My Sunday was about:

An easy 5 miles that turned into 4 because of time constraints.

Gorgeous skies as I roadtripped to Omaha to pickup my bridesmaids dress.

Grocery shopping and running into a former tumblr.

Skype sessions with running-matt, some of my favorite chats of the week.

And a really good first date with a guy I had kind of written off. Sometimes people surprise you! Plus there was sushi involved! Total win in my book!

Monday, I ain’t even mad you’re rapidly rolling your way towards me. It’s race week, baby!
