Lincoln Marathon weekend

It’s here! I’m so excited to run half-marathon number 2! The forecast looks fairly crap-tacular. Wind and rain in the forecast. But one thing I’ve learned about Nebraska is that the weather always changes. And if you don’t like it, just wait a minute, it will change!

Tomorrow, I get to meet Steph and Victoria and hang out again with Holli and Lindsay! Sunday is the half and I’m ready to go!

Have a great weekend friends!

Attention Lincoln Marathon Runners!

Holli and I were talking and she can’t meet up with us to hear Ben speak at the Expo or go to the pastathon because she has to work, so we were thinking that we could all meet up at Braeda at 48th and O at 6:30pm Saturday night before the Marathon.

I still plan on going to the pastathon around 4pm, but I think we all need to hang out before the race!

So be there or be square!

I’ve been a shady lady

I’ve been so sporadic about posting lately, its not even funny. I appreciate you all sticking with me!

Life is good; busy, but good. There are less than two weeks until the Lincoln Half-Marathon. I’m ready. This time around I feel so much more prepared than last year. I did a 10 mile run on Saturday, and would have made it a test 13.1, but the ol’ Nebraska wind made sure that didn’t happen. 25 mph gusts are very hard to run in!

Saturday night I went to Boyz II Men in concert. My TV station GM gave me free tickets. It was awesome! I had a blast! We were only about 11 rows back from the stage.

I don’t think I’ve told you guys, my dad got another job. It involves selling Life insurance and doing a lot of traveling, which is hard for him and my mom. But they are making it work. A job is a job in this economy, right?

Speaking of jobs, I have to get back to mine. Part of the reason I haven’t posted much is because when my hours changed, I lost the time I had to blog at work. I know, I know, I’m not supposed to do that, but it was when I had the time! Also, I don’t know about you all, but after staring at a computer screen all the day, the last thing I want to do when I get home is get on my laptop and write more! But I know I need to write a pretty big post. It’s coming. I promise!

Have a great Tuesday friends! 🙂

Scenes from my 12 mile long run today. It was a gorgeous day, with a strong headwind on my way back. But I made it! I found a trail I think I will use for all of my long runs for awhile. There was not another soul on it, and it was flat and peaceful! Loved it! Happy Easter friends!

Today’s run sucked

I had a 15K or 9.3 miles on the schedule. I ran 10 miles last Sunday, in warmer, more windy weather, so today’s run should have been easy.

No dice.

I fought for each step of each mile and and only made it 6.2 miles of the the 9.3 I was supposed to run. But that’s ok…that’s why I start training a few weeks early, so I have these crappy runs and can adjust for them. It just means the rest of my runs this week will be great runs, right?

I have also learned a valuable lesson; running on not enough sleep doesn’t work for me. And don’t try to do a long run the day after I do hill work. My quads were screaming at me the entire time.

It was not a good run.

And something very odd happened. I had stopped in the park to rest. My quads were killing me, I had a stitch in my side and I needed a break, so I rested about 5 minutes. There is a bathroom about 30 feet away from the bench I was on and I decided I was going to refill my water bottle if it was open, so I got up and ran over to it. During the entire time I was sitting there, no one had come over to the bathroom or in or out of it. So imagine how freaked out I was when I was running past one of the doors that was cracked open a bit and I saw a person standing there, staring at me through the crack! I let out a yelp and immediately took off flying! I didn’t look back, I just ran away as fast as I could! How freaky is that!?

On the plus side, the weather here is perfect! 80 degrees, low humidity, a breeze and no clouds in the sky. Just wall-to-wall blue skies and sunshine. Perfection.

In other news, I went to see The Hunger Games last night. I haven’t read the books and really have no desire to. The movie was decent. I didn’t really want to see it, but my friend did, so I went along.

I only work Monday and Tuesday this week. My mom and I are taking 3 days off for a long girls weekend. We are going to go shopping in Omaha, see some friends and just have a great, relaxing time. I’m super excited! It doesn’t hurt that our News consultant will be here those days to meet with people and try to make them better at their jobs, and I won’t have to meet with him! I’ve done that before. It doesn’t help! 🙂

So, I hope you all have a great week friends!

Today’s 8 Mile Run, By the Numbers:

55-Degrees outside. PERFECT running weather!

14-Dogs I saw being walked on the trail.

8-Miles I ran.

5-Bike riders

4-Random teenage boys who “Whoo-hoo’ed” at me as I ran by.

3-Honks from 1 car full of three 20-something-year-old dudes. (thanks guys!) 🙂

3-Other runners on the trail.

And countless other walkers enjoying the gorgeous weather!

Enjoy your Sunday Friends! 🙂

I have a toddler’s bedtime

But its marathon training time and I have to get my back x-ray’d tomorrow at 745am! Before that, I have 3 miles on the schedule. So I’m in bed at 930pm.

My lower back has been bothering me since August. The chiropractor kind of helped. But now, I can’t take it anymore. Doc said today we must x-ray first. I just want to feel better. It doesn’t hurt when I run, so that’s a bonus!

Have a good night friends!

Lincoln Half-Marathon

Registration opened today. The race is May 6th. The site said the registration opened at 10am…I was registered by 10:45am! So Excited to run my 2nd Half-Marathon! They only let 10,000 people run it, so CupcakesandChaucer and LindsayDoesLife, lets do this together!

Its supposed to snow Saturday. My meteorologists at work say the models say 4-8 inches are possible. I’m running a 5k on Sunday with Cupcakes. I haven’t really done any snow running, so this could be fun!

Who would have thought just a few years ago that I would be so excited to spend $60 to run 13.1 miles in May? I can’t wait! 🙂

Have a good day friends!
