Pay Day. Finally.

This getting paid once a month thing is not my favorite when it comes to the last few days of the month. But today? This is me:

ALL The Money! Too bad a lot is going flying out of my account in the next few days. I’ll enjoy it while I can. Don’t get me wrong, I’m budgeting just fine…I just like a very healthy account balance. 🙂

In other news:

  • The BF met my Ocho friends this weekend. It went well.
  • I had an exceptionally lazy weekend: 2 hour nap Saturday, TV Marathon Sunday. I regret nothing!
  • It’s Game Week Baby! Go Big Red!
  • My roomie’s boyfriend is moving in with us, bringing my rent down from $600/month (plus utilities) to $333.33 each. In the month that I start paying my car loan this makes me INCREDIBLY happy!

I’m a delicate flower

  • My roomie’s dog will NOT STOP JUMPING on people. The above happened last night after he came in from outside and hadn’t seen me all day. She tells him to stop, but clearly, THAT’S not working. His sharp claws managed to not only scratch up my thigh but bruise me as well. I swear I spend half my life trying to figure out where the bruises on my body come from. I’ve currently got matching ones on the insides of my forearms that I’m curious about. 
  • In other news, thanks for the support, RE: the office move. I talked to the boss again and while she still doesn’t understand why I don’t want to give my office up to someone under me AND with less time here, we haven’t moved yet. (Really lady? That doesn’t make ANY sense to you? Geez.) My fingers are crossed that we won’t have to.
  • I bought some PSL M&M’s to try today. I will report back.
  • Conversely though, I agree with becky-balances that we should stop wishing away this most lovely part of summer. Doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy some chocolate though! 😉

Friday Five!

The #Blessed edition.

  1. I had to license and register my car this morning. $1,637.21 later…it’s all taken care of. That hurt. Real bad. Nebraska property tax is something ridiculous like 8%. That’s part of why I didn’t want a new car, the cost for licensing it is INSANE! However, I had $1000 from my credit union and $644.77 from an old savings account that I closed. I juuuuust covered the cost with a few bucks to spare!
  2. My co-worker called me on my way to the DMV, to tell me we had a 9am staff meeting (previously unannounced) I told her I’d be there asap–more like 9:30. So I may have sped a bit on my way back.
  3. ….Then I got pulled over after a cop shot me with his radar gun. When I asked how fast I was going he said that he couldn’t tell me or he’d have to give me a ticket. I took that to mean he wasn’t going to. (Either that or he didn’t know how fast I was going!) HE ONLY GAVE ME A WARNING AND TOLD ME TO SLOW DOWN. I’m a lucky, lucky girl. I was likely doing 45 in a 30! My co-worker was ticketed for doing 40 in a 35!!
  4. It is Friday. I get to sleep in this weekend. 
  5. I don’t have too many things planned this weekend-My 5 year old nephew’s t-ball game, and the Dog Splash Sunday night. Rio LOVES swimming and playing with other dogs. Win-Win.

What is this sorcery??

I’m going running after work because temperatures like this practically BEG you to! It’s sunny, a little windy, and not humid. It’s like someone flipped the switch from summer to fall. So odd. 

In other news…

  • I took Nyquil Extreme Cold last and passed out. It stopped the coughing in the middle of the night-Success! 
  • This fall-like weather makes me want to Bake All the Things!
  • Why does traveling make you retain water? Ugh. Gross.
  • The bf and I do NOT want to drive anywhere this weekend. I think it will be a low-key weekend at home. So needed after the craziness of last weekend!
  • My gym is starting a new low-impact dance-type class September 1st. My friend and I are planning to go and check it out. If I suck at it, then no harm, no foul.
  • I’m currently watching a steady stream of girls parade by my office window for Sorority recruitment at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Is it just me, or do College Freshmen get younger and younger? #oldladystatus
  • I need to go grocery shopping. I do not want to. I have no food. The struggle is real.

It’s my Friday!

I leave for New York in the morning, I’m so excited!!!

After all you fabulous people cast your votes on which dress to take, I decided that while I will take both, I’m going to wear the blue one. Because I had it altered for this wedding and I LOVE the way it fits:

Ignore my serious face and tummy pooch. I feel pretty hot!

In other news, I can’t quite shake this cough for the past 1.5 weeks so I took some cough syrup last night before bed. I CRASHED. Hard. But, it stopped the cough and I slept great.

Some of the students are beginning to move back into the dorms. Greek Rush Week is next week–I can’t wait to see all the Freshmen girls trying to walk to all the Sorority houses in their high heels. They look like baby giraffes!

I’m a ridiculously good mood today–sunshine, gorgeous weather, and I’m almost on vacation??!! Yeah baby!! COME AT ME!

Monday

  • I get so irritated, like irrationally angry, when people stop the microwave early and leave time on it. Drives me CRAZY! Just hit the clear button!!!
  • I have a wicked bruise on my left hand/wrist. I have no clue where it came from. 
  • I’m all achy in my joints. Like my hips ache and my ankles hurt last night. Between chasing the dog, my usual run, AND fixing the fence, I somehow managed to give myself a sore booty. I’m hoping I’m not coming down with something that’s causing the aches. #WestNileVirus??
  • If I don’t get up and run before work in the morning then I struggle to want to eat breakfast, even after I shower. I need more time to wake up. I nearly made myself sick eating breakfast this morning.
  • I work 3 days this week and then 4 days next week because of my trip to New York! I’m so excited!!!
  • Today marks my first anniversary at my job! I can’t believe it has already been a year!
  • My oldest nephew is going to start 3rd grade this week. How did THAT happen??

What. a. weekend.

  • My friend’s wedding reception was in an outbuilding that they literally built within the last 9 days on a piece of property they own. We sat next to the air conditioning and obviously I needed this photoshoot to happen!
  • The groom and I. He’s a doll. Good friend and businessman. I hate doing the video editing for him, but I love the paycheck that comes with it!
  • The wedding favors were customized stemless wine glasses. What a great idea! It was the first favor I actually took home from a wedding. Maybe I took two! No judgement!
  • They had fans as a part of the centerpieces. I’m a ham. This picture happened.
  • I nearly had a heart attack today. I took the dogs out and noticed that they ran to one specific corner. I went to investigate and found out how Rio has been getting out. She did it right in front of me! This time she took off down the block and into the street. Cars stopped, I was screaming and chasing after her. People scattered because she’s a big dog, even though I told them she was friendly and to grab her collar. We went around the corner and crossed another busy street. A man and his 2 sons finally caught her. I don’t think I’ve ever run that fast in my life. Adrenaline, man. I was shaking when I grabbed her and swatted her butt. She laid down and refused to get up. I’m sure everyone enjoyed THAT show. After that, I took rope and wove the hole shut. When I let her out later she ran right to it and was very surprised to see her escape route gone. Ai yi yi.
  • The bf was snapchatting us after and told me he missed us. So I sent that back. His reply? “Aww! There’s my ladies!” and “only 4 more sleeps!” You guys. My cold, dead heart just melted a little bit more. 🙂
  • I made that collage with the photos from my bff’s wedding. I bought a $5 frame at Wal-Mart and taped the pictures onto the back of the paper that was inside it. It’s certainly not perfect…not even really straight…but it works for me! I’m easy to please.
  • And lastly, after the craziness that ensued today I decided it was a TREAT YO’ SELF moment and got a mani/pedi. That color is called “Fabulous”! At one point, one lady was doing my toes and another was doing my nails. I felt like a Princess!!

For once, I don’t have the Sunday Sads…I’m so excited to be reunited with my bf Thursday morning that I don’t even mind that Monday is roaring closer like a freight train! Come at me, bro!

Time for wedding #3 of 4 this summer! And the first of two wedding weekends in a row!

My friend that I edit videos for is getting married today! The invite said black tie optional…So that called for a Kate Spade dress, right?! That’s what I thought too! This is my former roomie’s dress, she was gracious enough up let me borrow it. I LOVE the color! My friend Rob is my date, should be a blast!

Friday Five: the “It was a very dramatic morning” edition!

  1. My roomie texted me last night while I was at my friend/seamstresses house getting a dress taken in that Rio had gotten out of the fenced in backyard and into the neighbor’s yard. She came when she called, but the neighbor girl was a little scared of her. But no harm, no foul. She got yelled at and the roomie swatted her butt. I thought we were done and she’d behave.
  2. I THOUGHT WRONG. This morning I let the dogs out while I was running. When I came back, my roomie’s dog was in the yard and Rio was nowhere to be seen. Cue the panic and adrenaline. I found her in the neighbor’s yard again and went to get her. Instead I chased her for 15 minutes through 2 backyards at 6:30am! She refused to come and must have thought we were playing, despite my very angry voice yelling at her to come to me and/or sit. I called my roomie, she brought treats and we corralled her. So much yelling ensued. I live on a very busy street-I was terrified she’d get hit by a car! As part of her punishment she did not share my breakfast this morning. Hrmph. I’ll show her!
  3. Nothing like running through a spider web during your morning run to perfect your ninja skills! I karate chopped and flailed my arms to get rid of any potential spiders. I’m sure the early morning commuters enjoyed the show!
  4. This morning required a Starbucks run for an Iced Chai Latte. Rio woke me up at 1am for a potty break and then that 6:00am alarm felt like it went off 20 minutes later. 
  5. I’m heading to Omaha tonight to see my bestie. I haven’t seen her since the end of May. That’s way too long to go when we only live 50 miles apart.
