I’m literally dripping with sweat after tonight’s run.
I Couldn’t get up any earlier this morning and run because my dentist appointment was at 8 a.m. And I have enough trouble getting to work at 8:45 in the morning on a normal day. So an after work run it was!

Dude. I’m not complaining about the warm weather because its so great to have warm weather again. But, whew! I’m not used to it yet! Slow miles tonight. More walking than usual. But its all good.

Also, how do I have friends or boyfriends? I’m sooooooo sexy post-run! 😉

Happy Friday Friends!! This is one of my new favorite shirts that I got at the Lincoln Marathon. I’m a big fan. In case you don’t know, that’s the shape of the state of Nebraska. I dig it.

This has been THE LONGEST WEEK EVER!! No Joke. I just realized that I haven’t had a full day off since May 4th!! And that was the day I ran the Lincoln Half Marathon so technically, that wasn’t a day off. Oy. I’m tired. And tomorrow I work from 9:30-6pm at Corky.

Calgon, take me away! I plan on a quick run tonight, followed by a Target run, then dinner and some more couch time. Early to bed so I can get up early for another run in the morning before work. I’m exhausted.

Some things of note:

  • My coworker told me that I would make a good hipster. Which confused me. Why? How? What? I’m so confused. Apparently I kind of dress half hipster-ish sometimes. Today is one of those days. Huh. I don’t know.
  • One of our front office ladies retired yesterday. The GM had a happy hour for her. It was a blast hanging out with some of my other coworkers that I usually don’t see outside of work!
  • New Guy. Ehh. That’s such a weird predicament to be in. He keeps texting me, but hasn’t asked me out. I haven’t seen him since last Monday. I had to ask him out on dates 2-4. I’m not doing it again. I’m worth being pursued. And asked out.
  • A lot of you feel the same way I do about pants that don’t fit our muscular calves! Solidarity sisters!
  • I’m still working on losing those strange pounds that I put on after the Half. I’m trying not to obsess. HA! You know me. I’m not the best at that.
  • Conversations with a co-worker are making me do a lot of hard thinking about my Ex that I still talk to. What do I want? What should I do? Maybe it’s time to be honest with myself. And him. Either go big or go home, right?

Have a wonderful weekend friends!!

Wednesday night brain dump

  • I worked 15 hours yesterday. Election day pizza does not make up for a super long day like that. I’m exhausted. Oof.
  • Consequently I spent the evening parked on the couch, catching up on my DVR. Ahhhh, bliss.
  • I think I need to design cute pants and capri’s for girls with muscular calves. I tried on some at Target the other day that made me hate my legs. They were too tight on the calves in my size, but going a size up they were way too big in the waist. And still too tight in the calves. Stop making me feel bad about my body designers, and get with the program: we come in all different shapes and sizes! Design for it. *Gets off soapbox.*
  • Well, that escalated quickly! Apparently that annoyed me more that I knew. Huh.
  • I need to end things with New Guy. Despite him showing up out of nowhere to cheer me on at the Marathon last week, I’m just not feeling it. Life is too short to stay with someone you just don’t like and want to be with. Alone again, naturally.
  • I’m done looking for love. When it’s meant to be; it will happen. With whoever I’m supposed to be with. Until then, I’m going to keep being awesome, having a good time, and living my life. The right man who wants to be in that awesome life will be there, someday. I have faith.
  • I’m exhausted friends! Night!

Hey guys! Miss me?

Things have been a little chaotic around here: work, both at the Ocho and Corky, Mother’s Day plans, Tornadoes, and today is the Primary Election.

I got called into work Sunday evening for 4 hours. That sucked. Its been non-stop storm coverage and political coverage here. Today I’m working from 8:45 until 10ish pm. Grrr… I’m not a huge fan.

  • I’ve been running, had some fairly decent runs the past few days. This morning it was 42 degrees so I bundled up to head out.
  • I ran 10 miles post half marathon last week. Felt good. I did 2 quick miles this morning before work.
  • I’m slightly irritated, I’m up like 5 pounds after the Half on the 4th. How/Why does that happen? And why won’t it come off?!?! I’m trying not to be tied to the scale, but I can just feel it, you know? I feel squishy and slightly comfortable. I want these pounds off now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrr. Any ideas as to why they’re staying on? Or where they came from? Frustration is high here. I’m not eating crap!!!
  • I made Strawberry-Rhubarb Cake to bring to work for election day. It was gobbled up before 2:30pm. TV News people LOVE free food! It was quite delicious, if I do say so myself!
  • Pictured: Election Night Pizza from Pizza Hut. Something about it just tastes so good.
  • ONE MORE MONTH UNTIL I SEE BROOKE!!!!! The Manitoba Half is 32 days away. I’m excited for another race and some time with my favorite Canadian.
  • I’ve been sleeping like a CHAMP the past few nights. I’m pretty notorious for not being able to fall asleep at night for nearly an hour. The past few nights? We’re talking head hits the pillow, I roll over and lay there for a few minutes and then boom: I’m out. I’m so excited. Sleep usually eludes me. I’m digging this whole, going to be early and waking up early to run. I did that Wednesday thru Saturday last week.
  • My love life is confusing right now. (But then again, isn’t it always?) As Becky says, its always good for some stories, right?!

Hope you have a great week friends!

Thursday Things

  • I feel squishy after the Half Marathon. I always retain water for a few days after the half. But I always forget that and then I get annoyed. Sigh.
  • I got up and ran yesterday morning and this morning. I’m shooting for 4 miles tomorrow morning before work as well.
  • Do you guys watch “The Mindy Project”? The Season Finale was PERFECT.
  • And Crap, did it hit home when she reminded Danny what he told her; “guys don’t break up with girls they secretly want to be with." Crap you guys. That one made me THINK.
  • I need to tell you guys what the Psychic told me a few weeks ago! It was interesting. That’s another post coming tonight or tomorrow.
  • Conversations in the newsroom today, talking about how you don’t generally want to give your children the same name as any of your exes. I said: "I need to find my soul mate soon! I’m beginning to run out of names if I ever have babies and they’re boys!” Oy. My life. I’ve dated some repeat names too. It’s confusing.
  • Froyo tonight with a couple of my Lincoln Girls! YAY!

Have a great evening friends!!

A few of the pictures that were captured of me during the Lincoln Half Marathon this past Sunday. My time was 2:33:53. Since it was a wave start I didn’t cross the start line for about 45 minutes.

I’m not too thrilled by most of them. They didn’t get any of me along the route. Not sure if they had anyone there.

The second picture is with this guy named “Whitey”. We were waiting to take our pictures with the sign and he said we were going to take them together. I said, “Okay.” He’s a Guardsman from Washington State. So random.

That’s the 2nd time I’ve made a random friend on a Half Marathon course. I’m just a friendly girl! 😉

Scenes from my morning run.

It was 70 degrees at 6:30 this morning!! We’re going for a high of 95 today. That’s right, Ninety-freakin’-five on May 7th. Ouch. The AC was turned on last night.

First run since the Lincoln Half on Sunday. I had a post marathon Sports massage yesterday–she worked out my kinks in my back and quads, and said my IT bands felt “great”. Hooray!

There was a sprinkler on my run this morning. The humidity was at 77%. I ran through the sprinkler. It was amazing.

My brand new running shirt was soaked post-run. (I love that shirt’s saying!!) I feel so pretty! (haha!) But, as evidenced in the 2nd photo, it’s nothing a little shower and blow dryer can’t fix! And yes, I’m wearing a strapless dress. To work. In my defense, I’m covered with a cardigan! 😉

Have a great day friends!!

THE QUESTION GAME!

I was tagged by undressedlunch

Rule 1: Always post the rules

Rule 2: Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and write 11 new ones.

Rule 3: Tag 11 people and link them to the post

Rule 4: Actually tell them you tagged them

My Questions:

1. What is the TV show you watch when you’re feeling down?

The Mindy Project or New Girl always make me laugh

2. What’s the best part of getting healthy?

How energetic I feel all the time. And how many things that I can do now, and the attention I get now! 😉

3. What is one thing you’ve learned in your fitness journey that has changed you permanently?

Fitness is a journey, not a destination. It is a battle everyday. I will never be “done.” I will always fight the urge to sit around and eat crappy food. But I also found that endorphins feel pretty awesome…better than some foods taste!

4. Do you swear a lot in everyday conversation?

Nope. I’m one of those weird people who doesn’t swear–at all.

5. If you could travel anywhere in the world, right now, and be there for one hour, where would it be?

Hawaii. I love it there so much, I would be there for just one hour if I had to.

6. Do you like old movies?

I do. I took a couple of film classes in college, it deepened my appreciation of them.

7. Is there a song that you’re embarrassed to tell people you like? What is it?

Hmm, I love a lot of cheesy music, and I’ll admit it!

8. Would you meet one of your followers in person?

For sure! I’ve met a lot of them at the Chicago Marathon. Some have become amazing friends.

9. Would you have a one-night stand?

Nope. Not my style

10. Do you judge people based on their clothing choices?

I do, and I feel bad about it. But I don’t think I’m alone in this.

11. Would you describe yourself as an introvert or an extrovert?

Extroverted Introvert for life! I’m very outgoing and love to be around people, but I need my “Melissa time” at least 1-2 nights a week or I start to get grouchy.

If you read this, consider yourself tagged. If you don’t want to do it, no worries. Same questions to all my followers!

Not every race is a PR. And that’s ok. Because 2:33:53 is still a darn good time.

The 2014 Lincoln Half Marathon is in the books. My friend Wesley and I are pleased.

I’m sore, tired and need a nap. There are so many things I want to tell you guys about this race. People who came out to support me, messages from dear friends, the signs, so much to say.

But for now, I’m going to take the world’s best shower and relax.

How to feel decadent in 5 Easy Steps

  1. Call to make an appointment for a pre-half Marathon Sports Massage for this week.
  2. The masseuse tells you she only does them during the daytime hours, so how does 12:15pm sound?
  3. Agree that it sounds good, and go over your lunch hour for an hour long Sports Massage today.
  4. Make a follow up appointment for a post-run massage next Tuesday after the Marathon. Also during your lunch hour, because YOLO?!
  5. Bask in the awesomeness that is a massage. During your lunch hour. During the week.
