3.1 miles this (late) morning! I have the day off because I have to work Saturday for a Nebraska football postgame show.

So far today I’ve:
-slept 11.5 hours (I was so tired! )
-ran 3.1 miles in the gorgeous sunshine!

I plan on going shopping and cooking dinner for me and my roomies tonight. Maybe a little DVR catching up too! The world is my oyster!

Happy Wednesday friends!

My little corner of the internet

I sometimes struggle with how much of my life I want to put out here, available to the masses. When I first started this blog, it was a secret. I was the only one who knew about it. I told no one. It was my space to talk about running, because most of my IRL friends were tired of hearing about it.

Then it all changed. I started posting more about myself, my real world life. I accidentally told one coworker about it. And then they all knew.

Most of the time I don’t care who reads it, who knows. Because frankly, I find it strange that these coworkers would even want to read it. Most of them don’t run. I think I’m fairly transparent and tell people things about my life. So I feel like it’s oddly voyeuristic that they are reading this.

But when they talk about my blog posts behind my back? That’s not cool. When they make fun of them and try to make me feel bad for what I post? It makes me not want to post. Or to change my URL so they can’t find it anymore.

I’m 31 years old. I thought the days of mean girls and boys were over. Middle school and high school were traumatic enough. Don’t add to it as adults.

Sigh. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I don’t want to censor myself. And I like my blog name. Stay tuned folks!

And the culprit is…

Clindamyocin!

I called the dentist’s office this morning, and my dentist called me back personally, on his cell phone, to talk about the drugs. He apologized for the hives, and told me that Clindamyocin is one of the lowest allergen drugs available. Leave it to me to have an allergic reaction to it! Oy.

The hives still itch, and if they get worse or I can’t breathe I’m suppose to go to the doctor! That’s a little freaky!

He’s such a nice guy, and as we we’re hanging up, he called me “hon.” Gotta love small towns!

Thanks for all your well wishes! I think the reason I still have to take the antibiotics before an appointment is because I also have a heart valve issue (bicuspid aortic valve) so they just want to make sure I’m ok!

I am sure I won’t ever forget to take my amoxicillian again!

Because of the benadryl, I couldn’t rouse myself for an early morning run, so after work it is. The weather is lovely so it should be a nice run. I’ve gotta work off the 5 pounds I’m up from the Half Marathon last Sunday.

Happy Monday friends!

Rest days are the best days!

I think I strained the arch of my left foot during the half Marathon on Sunday. It ached a bit then, and after resting it for 3 days I thought it was fine. But my subsequent 1 mile fast runs Wednesday and Thursday seemed to aggravate it. It just feels like I pulled it, ya know?

So last night after my run I told myself that I wouldn’t run for a few days…rest it and not actually hurt myself, right?

So imagine my surprise when I woke up early, raring to go! I thought I’d run. It’d be fine, I reasoned. My foot doesn’t currently hurt. Mother nature didn’t think that was a good plan. When I heard the rain I decided a run wasn’t in the cards for today. No need to run in the pitch black and the pouring rain! God must be protecting me, despite my tendency to push myself too hard!

So, I’m laying here, about to start my Marathon day…dentist appointment, 3 hour car ride, and 4 hour wedding reception. I love the calm in the morning before the chaos ensues.

Happy Friday friends! Have a fantastic day!

Running is awesome!

I decided to run just one mile tonight. But I’d run it as fast as i could. The result?

1 mile in 8:40.

Boom. That’s freakin’ amazing for me! And to think I didn’t want to run, and I didn’t think I could yet after Sunday’s half!

Sometimes you surprise yourself.

8:40! I’m still freaking out about that!

Really Wednesday?

This day. Ugh.

  • I didn’t get up and run this morning. I think I’m going to try and run after work. In fact, if I don’t that’s okay. Running that half on Sunday was crazy. I can take a few days off.
  • I found out this afternoon that I can’t go to Minneapolis to see Brooke and Susie (and everyone else) run the Twin Cities Marathon. My station is running a postgame show from the Nebraska-Illinois game at 6pm, and I produce those.
  • That also means that my weekend is split up and I have next Wednesday and Sunday off. That’s annoying.
  • As Brooke said: “sometimes life gets in the way of having fun.” Too true.
  • I got my flu shot today.
  • I was a grownup today. I turned in my Credit Card Rewards for account credit instead of a gift card or merchandise. 9,000 points got me $46.04 in credits. Every little bit helps, right?
  • The good thing? Tomorrow is my Friday!!!

Good things

  • Found out today that my bank has a mobile banking app. I can now do everything from my phone…and deposit checks! That’s awesome. Too bad I went to the bank THIS MORNING to desposit a check. But regardless, I’m excited.
  • Friends like Brooke. Seriously. She’s the best. She’s really good at talking me down from the ledge. I need that. How do you always know when I need to hear from you? Serendipity my friend. Fingers (and toes) crossed I get to come see you and Susie run Twin Cities in a couple weeks! The Husker football schedule is the only thing standing in my way!
  • New Girl is on tonight. I have Castle DVR’d from last night. Hey there TV, come to momma.
  • My life has been nuts the past month and suddenly this week has slowed down. This is NOT the best week for that to happen. But I WILL get out of my head and get through it. I need to be busy. Any reminders from you all would be appreciated. I’ve got 99 problems, and 86 of them are ones I’ve made up in my head. True Story.
  • I seriously want Pad Thai tonight. It might just have to happen. Either that or froyo. It’ll be a GTD.
  • After being super sore yesterday after Sunday’s On-a-whim Half-Marathon, I feel awesome today. Only my lower back is a little sore. That’s awesome. I plan on running in the morning.
  • The summer of Melissa is over. I have a post brewing about that. Stay tuned folks! (I know you’re excited! ;))

That’s all I got. Happy Tuesday Friends!!

100 Days of Pushups.

You guys! I did it! I actually did the 100 days pushups challenge. I missed 2 days a couple weeks ago, but I made them up. When I started this in June I didn’t know if I would actually do the entire thing. But here were are. Despite that around day 50 my right shoulder became sore EVERYDAY and ached, I kept going.

The first photo is today. The second set of photos is from July 25th so about 30-some days into the challenge. My arms are awesome! I can hold more (my nearly 7 year old nephew still likes to snuggle and be held. he’s about 55 pounds! oof!) I can hold a plank without it hurting my arms. I have defined muscles. This is awesome.

Happy Monday!

Newbies

I work with a bunch of early 20 somethings. Most of them have just graduated college. I get it. Lincoln is a starter TV market. We can’t be too picky.

HOWEVER!

Today I met our new Director. All of our other directors are 34-40 years old.

New Director has been directing for about a year. He has also done some on-air work.

New Director is 18-years-old.

18-freakin’ years old.

I kid you not.

A teenager will be directing my Husker Football Pre and postgame shows! He can just barely vote! But assures me he will be 19 in January! Oy. You’re still a teenager, son!

BRB, I’ve officially entered crazyland.
