Sometimes, you have a Day. The kind that needs a good run, a good cry or a good friend or family member to talk to? One of those days? Nothing is really wrong, but then again EVERYTHING is?

Had one today.

I had already did a good long run this morning, and want to run again in the morning so a run was out. Instead I headed tho my parent’s house where they recently got a trampoline! You can’t jump on one of those and still be sad. Combine that with two of the best nephews in the world, add in some dachsie snuggles and kisses and life doesn’t look so bad.

I’m a hot, sweaty mess after an hour spent jumping on the trampoline. But I feel better!

Night friends! Sweet dreams!

What a weird day (so far!)

  •  I got up and ran 5 miles this morning. That’s not weird. I’ve been doing that most mornings for the past several weeks. What’s weird is that I saw this bat on the sidewalk during the run.
  • I initally thought it was dead, and when I stopped to check it out…it started moving, using its talons to crawl along the sidewalk. Instead of freaking out, I was fascinated. I kind of wanted to touch it! (Don’t worry, I didn’t!) I used a to stick to move it off the sidewalk into the grass and went on my merry way. I’m sure it was dying or diseased. It’s not normal for nocturnal creatures to be out during the day.
  •  It was quite warm and humid already at 6:30am-74 degrees with 80% humidty! Needless to say I was soaked!
  •  You might be able to see that the only dry place was where my sports bra was! Oy! However, despite the crazy humidty and heat I’ve been doing great on my runs these last 2 mornings. Previously, I’ve been walking more than I’d like due to the temps and my heart condition. My mile times have been averaging 11:20/mile. The last 2 days? 10:45/mile! Running has been easier and my miles 4 & 5 split times are 10:10 and 10:05! Getting Speedy! 🙂
  • Today is one of my co-worker’s birthdays. I made her Oreo Balls. (Random fact about me: I don’t like to eat the baked goods I make. So if I make something I rarely want to eat it. Not sure why, I just don’t do it.)
  • The most strange thing that happened today? If you use LinkedIn you know how you can see who has viewed your profile? Well I did that today, and the Former Lt. Governor of Nebraska (Rick Sheehy) viewed my profile! That initself wouldn’t be so odd-I’m in the News Business, it says that on my profile. Except that he recently resigned due to official misconduct. He was using a state-issued cell phone to call women (who were not his wife!) and talk to them for hours!

  •  My boss asked if I was going to be a part of the former Lt. Gov’s next scandal…and I told him no way! I don’t plan on sleeping my way to the top!

That’s been my day. And it’s only 1:30pm! What does the afternoon have in store? Happy Hump Day friends!

IT’S NOT CANCER!!!!

Just got off the phone with my dad-the doctor said her stomach is red-most likely to the drugs she takes for back pain-that’s most likely the culprit for the low hemoglobin levels.

They still did a biopsy and we’ll get results Wednesday, but the Surgeon said nothing looked like cancer-but we’ll know for sure on Wednesday. But he said it wasn’t cancer!!

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers! I KNOW they helped!!!

Excuse me while I go do a happy dance!!!!

Perfect Sunday

2 mile Run this morning before church. I wanted 5 miles, but woke up late and settled for 2.

After a quick target run I hit my favorite produce stand for another watermelon and peaches. The girl at the stand remembered me AND she had a dachshund puppy! (my parents have 2 of them, and they are THE best dogs! This precious little girl was named Fern. I bought a black diamond watermelon. Try them, they’re delicious!

Then my friend Keith and I went on a quick little bike ride through the park. It is a gorgeous sunny Sunday.

Next up? Keith and I are grabbing dinner. Burritos!

Tomorrow is my mom’s test, so I’m praying pretty hard today. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Thanks friends!

The universe is out to get me.

This is a conversation between one of my reporters and I tonight. She did a live shot for my 5pm news at this church carnival. It had completely escaped my mind that Douche-Bag Scott went to that church, until she sent me that text. Ugh.

It wouldn’t be that bad except that on Monday I got one of the occasional emails from Match with my “newest matches". I’m not even a member anymore. Guess who was third on the list? You guessed it! Douche-Bag Scott! He’s still on there, months and months later.

And then Wednesday, my friend sent me a picture of a cosmo article that fit him to a T, and said it reminded her of him.

Ok universe, you win. (waves flag in surrender).

Sigh.

Good Intentions

Sometimes, your body just needs sleep.

Lesson learned.

I hit snooze so many times today that I finally gave in and reset the alarm. A run is not going to happen today. But that’s ok. I’ve done 5 miles each of the past 3 mornings and I went on a 7 mile bike ride last night. Between that, the 100 day pushup challenge (I’m on day 25) and planking (I’m up to 1:55!) My body was tired. So I gave it some sleep…and I feel so much better!

On the plus side? No work calls overnight! Score! However, I do have to do vacation schedules for the newsroom today…I’ve been avoiding those. First world problems!

Happy Friday friends!

Mornings are hard

  • I got woken up at just before 5am by my cell phone ringing. It was work. The fill-in producer for the morning show couldn’t log in to the computer to run the prompter. The show starts at 5am. I gave her the log in information and promptly went back to sleep. (side note: I have great job security because NO ONE can remember this log in information! They will call me at home if I’m on vacation because I’m the only who can remember it.)
  • My alarm started going off at 5:30am…I finally pulled myself out of bed at 6am.
  • Another 5 sweaty miles in the books.
  • They say you don’t regret a workout, but I certainly hated myself for being up and running when I so wanted to still be sleeping. That feeling went away around mile 3. It was a gorgeous morning-albeit quite humid. But I love a good sunny day. Makes you glad to be alive.
  • I got more honks and “whoo’s” than usual during a morning run.
  • When I got home I found out why: I had sweated 2 perfect circular spots…right on my boobs. What a picture I must have made to all the morning commuters!
  • My roomie came home from her Boyfriend’s early this morning and quickly changed and left…but not before telling me that I “was so cute, sitting there eating [my] breakfast.” Um, Thanks? I was watching GMA wearing my robe. I’m sure I looked awesome! 😉
  • Thank you for all of your kind words about my mom yesterday. I will keep you posted with what we find out. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated! The tests are Monday.
  • Happy Hump Day friends!

Friday Things

  • This whole random Thursday off thing has me very confused. I went to bed late (thanks Fireworks) and couldn’t drag my butt out of bed to run this morning. Don’t get me wrong, I was glad to have a holiday off…But it sucked coming back to work today. First world problems.
  • I’m working my PT job tonight and tomorrow night. I’m pumped. I really like working there and enjoy my co-workers. It’s win-win.
  • Consquently, I didn’t run yesterday or today. I’m not going to stress about it. 2 days off in a row won’t kill me.
  • I’m on day 16 of 100 days of push-ups. And I’m up to 1:20 of planking. I didn’t have time to do my planking this morning, so I literally just did it at work. Half of the station is gone already so I did it downstairs where the sales people usually are. There’s no one down there. Confession: sometimes, when I work weekends, I run laps down there. No judgement. Sometimes I’m stir-crazy.
  • My friend Keith and I are going bike riding tomorrow. He sleeps until noon, so I plan to get up around 9 and go for a long run. I’m excited. Running and biking in one day. Maybe I can get some pool time in too!
  • Last night my 3 year old nephew told me I was his girlfriend. He’s too precious! Made my night! 🙂

Hope you all have a good weekend friends!

Today has been a good body day…so please forgive the semi awkward pose I’ve got going on.

This dress was $10 at a thrift store..i wear a sweater over it for work. I’ve gotten several compliments on it. It hits me in the perfect place as to highlight the good and hide the not so good.

I’m off tomorrow..have to come back Friday. (July is a ratings month so we can’t take vacation, but I can take a holiday! )

Have a good one friends!
