I could not ask for a more perfect day; sunny, warm, a gentle breeze and I already did my long run yesterday? Fantastic!

I’m currently camped out in the backyard on a towel with a magazine and sounds of chirping birds to keep me company. I’m trying to even out my Capri tanlines.

This is bliss.

Happy Sunday friends!

Thursday things

  • Last night I got into it with the resident Bizzo at my work. The attacks became personal across a crowded newsroom. My boss wasn’t mad at me, but at her. And I learned something about myself: if that would have happened a few years ago, I would have cried either during it or after. Because anger used to turn to tears for me. But now? I’m older and wiser (HA!) and tears don’t come during fights.
  • The rage I felt during the argument fueled my run (she asked me what I do I all day, because a mistake was made that wasn’t my fault. Then she accused of me of copying and pasting the news!) Needless to say I was enraged.
  • I set out last night to run 5 miles. Since I moved, I miscalculated the distance and ended up running 7 miles instead. I think I needed it.
  • I also ended up running super fast. It’s amazing what anger will do for a run! On the route with the big hill I ended up running a 6:59/pace down the hill! I felt like I was flying!!
  • I was consistently running a sub 10:00/mile. I also ran a 8:45/mile. That is incredibly fast for me! Rage-fueled runs can be awesome. I even was running into a pretty good headwind and it started sprinkling a bit.
  • A car-full of teenage boys yelled “hey baby, can I have your number?” at me. Its always nice when that happens!
  • The Lincoln Half-Marathon is May 5th. I’m feeling pretty good about my training.

Have a good Thursday Friends! 🙂

Update

Sooo, I wrote Mr. Sassy Pants back. I told him I wasn’t sure if that was just a line, or something that he crafted specifically for me. I told him that I’d gotten a few “form emails” and just wanted to know if he had actually written it for me. If it was, then I told him I liked it. We shall see.

I had a date with another guy last night. It went really well. I’ve also been texting with the guy from last week. He wants to see me again, but he had to go out of town for work and I just didn’t feel like going on a date Tuesday night when I got home from Denver. Sounds like he wants to do something this weekend.

Which means this weekend could be busy because last night’s date asked me to go with him to a party Friday night. It’s island themed. I’ve yet to confirm that I will go to that because I’m still trying to move! My friend that’s helping me has pushed it back twice now. We are supposed to move tonight. Fingers Crossed.

So, that’s whats new with me. It’s sleeting here. I’m over this winter mixed with spring. I need warm weather!

Someday this will be a running blog again. Things have been crazy-I plan on a 12 mile run on Saturday.

Have a great day friends!

Do lines like these work?

Below is one of my latest emails from a guy on Match. I don’t know whether to believe it or write him back and ask if lines like that actually work for him? Do other women really respond to things like this? I just don’t know anymore.

Hey sassy pants!!

So, I’m reading your profile & you sound like a super-normal, regular next door neighbor sort of woman.
However; your pictures capture an unmentioned quality about you…

Something in your eyes gives away the fact that you’re a bit spunky/sassy. There’s a more upbeat, playful, adventurous side that you didn’t describe, but it’s totally noticeable.
(Just sayin’)

I’m Derek by the way.

Flashback Friday, my best friends wedding edition!

April 8, 2006.

There are so many things that I love about this picture, and so many that I’m horrified about. For instance, a professional makeup artist did my makeup, and I’m super pale. She had to use the whitest color on me, and even that seemed a little too much!

I was down about 40 pounds at this point. The day after her wedding, my friend and her new husband moved to Hong Kong. That was hard for me. But now? They’re back! And I’m visiting the friend on the right in Denver this weekend!

Happy Friday friends!

Countdown to Vacation…

  • I’m leaving for a 4 day weekend in Denver in about 3.5 hours. I’m so excited.
  • Last night I had a date with another guy. This one showed up. It went well. He asked to see me again already when I get back from my trip. This has promise.
  • I got a Match email from another guy, and I knew he looked familiar. I knew he was a former State Senator but couldn’t place his name. I asked my roomie when I got home, and she immediately id’d him. He was the one who told me several weeks ago out at karaoke that I have “amazing hair.”  I emailed him back, but have yet to hear anything. We shall see.
  • When we were talking, my roomie then told me a little more from that night. She said that when I arrived at karaoke both he and the State Senator (that later asked me to come home with him!) told her that “you never said your roommate was so hot!”

That totally made my day!! “Hot” is not something that I am used to hearing describing me. Being overweight and told that “you have such a pretty face…” (if you’d just lose the weight is always implied!) or that “you have such a great personality” makes it hard to believe people when they say things like that. I’m not telling you this so you feel sorry for me. It is what it is.

  • I’m moving on Tuesday (theoretically) as long as the weather cooperates. It was 70 and super humid here on Monday. Today and last night it snowed. I’m over it. Where is spring? This isn’t cool.

Hope you all have a good rest of the week friends! I know I will! 😉

I’m 0 for 2

Today’s date cancelled on me too! We were supposed to meet up before the annual Nebraska Spring Football game for a drink. I texted him to find out if he still wanted to, and he replied back that his friend had ditched him so he didn’t come down for the game either. (he lives in Omaha as well). Its pretty much just par for the course when it comes to my love life.

He said he comes down to Lincoln a couple times  week and if I go to Omaha I need to let him know. We exchanged a few other texts and that was it. I’m not holding my breath.

On the plus side? It’s 70 degrees here, sunny and gorgeous! I’m going to head out in an hour or so for a 10-12 mile run. Its also crazy windy, and that’s supposed to slow down soon. Fingers crossed.

Also, thank you for all your sweet and kind comments on last night’s post! My ego has taken a beating this weekend, that’s for sure. But you guys made me feel better! And Bob and Victoria are right: they wouldn’t tow for license plates and I totally did dodge a bullet! Seriously.

But to the jerk who reblogged my post and added their own comments about me nursing my bruised ego and how I must be “such a keeper:” because I obviously don’t care about this guy and his car being towed… No one asked you! I never heard back from him. I’m fairly confident if he was telling the truth he would have tried to reach me by now. Just sayin’. People can be so cruel.

In other news, today has been a decent day; I slept in, ran some errands, bought a new comforter for my bed when I move, and ran into an old friend at the mall. Life is what you make of it. And I’m going to make mine great! I also discovered a turkey in the driveway when I walked out the door to go shopping. I chased it into the backyard where it panicked because it couldn’t get out due to the fence. I snapped a photo and it finally found its way out. I live in the middle of town! I didn’t think I’d see wildlife here! 🙂

Happy Saturday friends! 🙂

I have to laugh

Because if I don’t I think I’d cry.

Well, maybe not cry, but at least be a little depressed.

I’m pretty sure I got stood up tonight.

On the plus side, in all my years of dating, both online and just meeting men in real life, this is the first time that’s happened to me. So I’d say my odds are pretty good.

The texter and I were supposed to meet at a Lincoln bar at 7 for a drink. (he lives in Omaha, about 45 minutes away.)

At 7 I texted and asked if he was there. When I hadn’t heard from him 20 minutes later I texted again and asked if he was still coming. He finally replied and said he was sorry, but he was pulled over.

I replied back and told him sorry and asked if he was in Lincoln.

When I STILL hadn’t heard anything at 8pm! I texted again and asked if he was still coming. At 8:10 I was about to text that I was leaving and that he should consider losing my number. That’s when he replied that he wouldn’t make it, that the cop was towing his car because of his license plates.

Now, I’m no man expert but I’m pretty sure I got stood up tonight. Right?

I didn’t reply back to his last text and if he texts me again I have no intentions of ever replying. Sorry dude, but you’ve officially lost your chance.

So I hit Jimmy John’s on my way home and now I’m spending the night with a super hot guy-Ryan Gosling. I’m going to watch “Crazy Stupid Love” and have a good night.

Sigh.

Have a good Friday night friends!
