I love you guys!

You all sure know how to make a girl feel good about herself! Thank you all so much!

You look great!

Love the outfit! See you in under 2 days!! 🙂

You are looking good!

….wow!

Not a sassy pant in sight!

If I wear white anything below the waist I will sit in ketchup. Guaranteed!

Thanks everyone! You are all so wonderful! And LOL Rich, no sassy pants at all! 😉 And Jen, I’m always so worried when I wear that skirt…but so far, so good! 🙂 And Brooke, I can’t wait! It’s almost here!!!!!!

In other news, I went for my final run before Fargo tonight. 85 degrees outside…no humidity, but I was sweating up a storm! You know how sometimes when you run, you feel like you don’t know how to run? Like your body just forgot how to do it? And you feel all out of sorts? Maybe that’s just me. But anyway, I felt that way tonight. Like my body wasn’t firing on all cylinders or something. But it always feels that way until about 2 miles in.  So it sucks when my run is only 2 miles long! By the end of the run I was good–At one point I was running an 8:35 pace! I was flying! I think its true about running and life; you have to keep going through the bad times to get to the good ones.  You WILL come out on the other side of it if you can persevere. Running lessons=life lessons.

On that note, I’m going to bed. Have a great night friends! Thanks again for being so wonderful!

I just ran in 77* temps and wanted to die. 🙂

haha didn’t you get a snow storm like 2 weeks ago?

Didn’t you just have snow like last week? Mother Nature you’re crazy!

Wasn’t it just snowing a couple of weeks ago?

You guys! It was snowing here just 2 weeks ago… May 1st! This is why I love Nebraska weather, if you don’t like it, just wait a minute, it will change! I ended up doing my run on the treadmill. My treadmill is in our basement and while we have our Air Conditioner on (in the middle of May! eek!) it is about 10-15 degrees cooler down there. So I felt pretty fantastic. I’m spoiled.

like to sweat, do you?

And, yes David. Yes, I do. 😉

The Dating Game

So I had a date last night with a new guy….after the marathon! I’m a champ! 😉  It was fun. We had a good time. I met Holli, Steph and Lindsay for an early dinner where I ate about 2/3rds of my salad and then went to meet Bachelor #…well, at this point I have no idea what number we’re on anymore! We went to Texas Roadhouse and sat at the bar ordered an appetizer and drinks. I drank water–hydration please!

We had a good time, laughed a lot and talked about a lot of topics. He’s 35, divorced and has a daughter. Does this sound familiar? It should, just like Douche Bag Scott! I seem to attract these single dads. But unlike DBS, he appears to be good people. We shall see.

He texted me about a half hour after I got home and told me it was great to meet me, and that if I wanted, he’d like to go out again. I told him I would like that. We chatted a bit more and then that was it.

The strange thing? We are facebook friends and he posted a vague post today about it sucking when that special someone ignores you, and it sucks even more to pretend you don’t care.  I certainly don’t think he’s talking about me, as I haven’t heard from him today, and I was the last one to text him last night. So odd. But whatever.

My match subscription ends soon. I’m going to let it. This dating thing is oddly stressful and I think I need a break.

To answer some questions/address some things:

  • melanieisdoinglife said: That guy is nothing but trouble. Do you think he’s reading your blog? Good job using the anger as motivation!

Melanie-I totally agree-nothing but trouble! I don’t think he is reading this, and don’t really care. But if he is? I hope that he feels like crap. He deserves it! And thank you!!

  • keepgoinggreen said: He sent that message to make himself feel better. Just more proof he is a douche and its good you found out now. Proud of you for taking the high road as you already have your answer on Captain DoucheBag!!!

Rich-You are so right! I hadn’t thought about it like that until you said it. But he was doing it to make himself feel better. One of my friends said that he must have been torturing himself about it for the past 3 weeks and all the publicity about the Marathon made him think about me and he finally had to say something. Thank you so much for the support. He is Captain DB!

  • davidsgoals said: You done good. The race, him, all of it.

    David-Thank you! 🙂 You’re the best. 🙂

  • tinkerbellrun said: That was a perfect reply!

That’s what I thought too!! I showed restraint for once in my life! (pats self on the back!) 😉

Notes from the Run

Today and yesterday were pretty perfect running weather; low 50’s, sunny, light breeze. So I hurried home from work and set out for some miles.

Tuesday I did 4. An out and back from my house down the busiest street.
Fun fact about Melissa: I don’t really like to run on trails. Lincoln has miles and miles of gorgeous trails but I prefer to run in neighborhoods. I like to look at homes and architecture as I run. I also like knowing there is traffic and people so no one can try to steal me. (I know, I’m weird.)

Today, I mapped a new route and headed out for 5 miles. 5.25 later I was home. I made the discovery that I live in a very hilly part of town. On one part of the downhill run I was running a 7:45/mile! Sweet!

I haven’t been able to run consistently outside for awhile so its been great to do it. I want to run 10-12 miles for my long run on Saturday. Its supposed to be 70 degrees and pretty perfect.

Oh yes, and to answer some replies to recent posts…

Melanie-I think I must attract bugs! I killed a weird looking one in the bathroom tonight and a spider in my living room as well! The valve problem must have something to do with it! 🙂

Ashley-I’ve never ‘met’ anyone else with bicuspid aortic valve! Glad we’re both doing well!

Josh-I DO have unlimited data! I have an old verizon plan from when they bought Alltel (anybody even heard of that company?) and I have unlimited data from that. I’ve never thought about using the home and work wifi.

Also-I have a date Friday with the texter—he was a good guy in person so I’m giving him another chance. I will keep you all posted.

Happy hump day friends! 🙂

You Guys!!!

You are so beautiful!

I seriously love you guys! You made my day! You sure know how to make a girl feel good about herself! Thank you so much!! 🙂

melanieisdoinglife replied to your photo: Spent part of my vacation this week with this…

Squeeeeeeeeee! So cute!!!!!!! Is she yours? (The first time I heard “chiweenie” I laughed my ass off.)

Melanie-she isn’t mine–I went to the pet store to play with the puppies (read: torture myself!) and she was the one I played with. I wanted to take her home. And for the low price of $600 I could have!

What was in the cake?

Its easy! Just bake a devils food cake mix as directed. Let that cool. Poke holes in the cake. I used the end of a wooden spoon. Then pour a can of sweeten condensed milk over the cake. Then pour a full jar of hot fudge ice cream topping over that and a jar of caramel ice cream topping over that. frost with an 8 oz tub of cool whip and put pieces of heath bar on top of the cool whip. Put it in the fridge overnight and then serve the next day. Its moist, delicious and gooey. Just right!

I stick the ice cream toppings in the microwave for about 30 seconds so they are pourable!

Enjoy!

She’s a SENATOR and only makes 12,000 a year? I thought senators made bank! That’s crazy!

melanieisdoinglife replied to your post: beckyc replied to your photo: What? This isn’t…

Of course she can’t go—only $12,000 a year. That’s way cool to receive an invitation though.

Becky, just to clairfy, she’s a State Senator, not the kind that goes to Washington, but that works in the Unicameral Legislature (we only have 1 house, only state to do that!) so we call them senators.

Melanie-That’s right! Although the campaign funds do pay for travel like that if she wanted to go. (I think she has committee meetings the next day.)

Very cool!

Thanks guys!

Melanie & Becky- I live with a Nebraska State Senator. She’s a friend of mine who used to work in the TV biz before she left to run for office 6 years ago. She’s about my age and has a house. Nebraska pays their state senator’s only $12,000 a year so she works a couple other part time jobs. That wasn’t enough to pay her mortgage and bills and so she put on Facebook that she wanted a roommate. I’ve live here since October.

Sadly, she (nor I) are going to the Inauguration! But that was on the table when I got home last night and I thought it was pretty cool. 🙂

11 Things

Thanks Melissa for sending this my way!

What is your favorite book or, if you prefer, who is your favorite writer?

My favorite book. Thats a hard one. I love to read, and have pretty eclectic taste. So I can’t name just one. But I do love romance novels and I love Nora Roberts and the Bride Quartet.

2. If money were no object, where would you take your next vacation?

I would go back to Hawaii. I went there in 2010 for 10 days and LOVED it there. Seriously. I would live there if it weren’t so far away and wasn’t so expensive.

I stayed in the hotel with the blue umbrellas and chairs in front of it! It was amazing!!

3. Whom do you most admire?

That’s a hard one too. I would have to say my mom. She has taught me to stand up and be my own person, and she is one of the strongest people I know. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and has made me and everyone in my family a better person because we know her.

4. Do you consider yourself a cat person or a dog person? Or both?

Total Dog person. Dogs rule! I’m super allegeric to cats! I also think that dogs think of you as part of the family or pack, whereas cats view you as the staff.

5. What is one of the best gifts you’ve ever received?

Mmm. I would have to say my Garmin that I got for my birthday in 2011. I didn’t think I wanted one, and didn’t think I would keep running after I ran my first half marathon. Good think my mom didn’t listen and bought it anyway! 🙂

6. If you could wake up tomorrow with one talent or ability, what would it be?

I would like to be able to read minds. I think we all waste so much time wondering what others are thinking, and I wish I could just know instead of worrying about it. I’ve always said that I wished my life were like a movie-then I could see the backstory and know what was happening in the other “scenes.” I know, I’m weird.

7. Are you still friends with any of your childhood friends?

Yes! I have been Best Friends with my friend Virginia since we were 5, and then when we were 8 we added Candace to the group. We are still BFF’s today—despite not living in the same cities or state. We don’t even talk everyday or week, but that kind of friendship you don’t have to, its just there, waiting to be picked up again when you need each other.

8. What non-physical quality do you like most about yourself?

I like to think that I’m a good listener. People tell me their problems all the time, and I like to try to help and listen.

9. Are you a vivid dreamer? Do you frequently remember your dreams?

Absolutely! I dream everynight and can remember most of my dreams. My mom is a nurse and she once told me that women tend to dream more and remember more of their dreams than men do. I certainly fall into this category.

10. What/who makes you laugh the hardest?

That would be my dad or BFF Virginia. They are always ‘On’ and can crack jokes whenever. I love that.

11. Why tumblr? How did you come to start blogging here?

To be honest, it all started because Dannon Greek yogurt changed their flavoring and I was trying to figure out why. I googled it, and discovered a blog called “The Librarian On The Run” I obsessively read it all, and read other’s posts that she reblogged. I decided to move my Blogger to tumblr so that I could stay more up to date. I started following people and gained some followers and the rest is history!

To be honest, I also started a blog because I wanted a safe place to talk about my running. My facebook friends didn’t care about it, and got annoyed when I talked about it. So this was a great outlet to channel my need into.

I’m going to tag some people with the exact same questions that Melissa asked me! (sorry, I’m lazy!)
