I am jealous of those with normal jobs that give them every holiday off…no matter what. Pretty much every year, I work Memorial Day, because the news stops for no holiday! Every year I think “its no biggie to work Memorial Day. I have no big plans.” And every year I kick myself when I have to go into work while a good portion of the country is sleeping in, chilling out, and just relaxing. Let’s be honest here. I don’t do it because I’m a good person. I do it for the cash. Since I’m salaried, I don’t get OT, so the only way I can bring in some extra money is to work a holiday and get paid for an extra day.
I only work from 9:30 to about 5:30, but still, I could be home! The weather today is epic! The pool is filling, the sun is shining and life is good! It was already 80 degrees when I got up at 8am! The humidity wasn’t as bad, but storms are brewing. Oh well!
I haven’t run since Thursday, and that was only a 2 mile run. I look at my running shoes and feel so guilty. I was very busy this weekend. And I was doing a lot of physical activity, so I shouldn’t feel so bad. But 4 days off without a run makes me a little crazy! I am going to run 2 miles at least tonight. And get back on the training wagon Tuesday. I have to! I have a 5k on the 11th and a 10k on the 19th! I haven’t run anything farther than 4 miles since last Sunday so I need to get it into gear.
Happy Memorial Day! And a big thank you to the troops!
