Major life changes ahead!

Some of you may have seen this if we’re friends on Facebook, but I’m leaving Nebraska and moving to upstate New York.

This week.

On Thursday.

Holy crap.

My boyfriend’s job is taking us there and he asked me to go as well. I said I wouldn’t go until I had a job, and next Monday I start my next career in Alumni Development for a private University in the city we’re moving to.

I’m really excited about the job, I’ll only work 35-37.5 hours a week depending on the time of year, but I’ll get paid for full-time! #blessed. I’ll get to write more and be more creative.

I’m excited/nervous/scared and all the other emotions. I’ll miss my family and friends desperately… I’m moving 20 hours away from them. There’s skype, FaceTime, and lots of plane rides in our future. But I’m excited about this next step in our lives together.

Today was my last full day at work, and I’ll do a little work from home Wednesday, then go get a crown on my tooth, then the next morning my friend Deb and I will take off for New York! I start my new job a week from today. No rest for the weary!

So that’s what’s been happening in my world. Sorry I’ve been MIA but I couldn’t say much, then life got crazy with packing and moving out of my house into my parent’s house for a few days.

A perfectly sunny Memorial Day here in the heartland!

I got up late and went for a run mid-morning. I’m running a 5k in mid June with my 10 year old nephew and I haven’t run more than a couple of miles in a long time. This morning’s 5k was slow going, simply because it was super warm and sunny. I’m not expecting to set any land speed records, just have fun.

Today is going to be a day of relaxing and grilling out and remembering those who gave their lives for our freedoms. 🇺🇸

I got a little heat exhaustion on this run…I had goosebumps for a lot of it. We’re in a heat advisory until tonight. So that’s fun.

I had a hard time today. The humidity is really hard on my heart issue (bicuspid aortic valve) so it can make it very tough to run in the summer. I’m not going to beat myself up. I’m just going to keep moving forward.

It’s crazy freaking hot here. Feels like 112º so I wore a strapless dress to work (with a sweater over it at work!) But I took it off when we walked to lunch.

There’s a street in my neighborhood that lines their yards with American flags from Flag day until Independence Day. I love it! So patriotic! So I snapped that pic on my run this morning while wearing that ultra patriotic shirt! It was 80º at 545am so that’s fun.

I got off work early and got a slushie and came home to my parent’s house for the weekend.

Well that’s fun. This heat isn’t going to break for the foreseeable future. I’m not going to complain because the cold and snow is so not my jam, but this is just the AIR TEMPERATURE! Add in the humidity and it feels even hotter.

I love Nebraska. I love Nebraska. I love Nebraska. I love air conditioning more though.
