Sunshine, shades, and bare legs

It was warm enough for me to wear a skirt and NO TIGHTS today so I had to get outside over lunch and enjoy this weather…even if it just meant sitting on the front steps of our offices and soaking up the sunshine.

Because it’s Nebraska and it’s windy here, we are in a Red Flag warning this afternoon–high fire danger with 20-30 mph winds (that should make for a fun Tempo Run!).

Fun Fact: My birthday is on Monday!! I’m trying to decide what to do to celebrate. Is it sad that I’m at the point where I’d just like to do dinner with friends and then drinks somewhere? That sounds like a pretty great night to me! Anybody have any suggestions for low-key, fun things to do? I’m all ears.

Can’t we all just be kind to one another? thatsminethankyou is experiencing the same sorts of things today, it appears. Turmoil and conflict make me uneasy.

In other, more fun things: Do you know your Fitness Age? This quick little test gave me the results below. I have the fitness of a TEENAGER!! I’m a real big fan of that! Teenage Melissa did not even have the fitness of a teenager! Funny stuff.

I woke up to about a half inch of snow on the ground this morning. I shouldn’t complain, especially with this 10 day forecast:

Reasons I like Nebraska: if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute, it’ll change. I’m really excited to run outside next week…and to do my 12 mile long run outdoors in 60 degree weather this weekend!

The Lincoln Half Marathon is less than 2 months away! It is a mini-tumblr meetup in Lincoln, Nebraska this May. runningfortheriesling, lifekicksback funhappylife2, two-o-nine and Andrew are all coming to town for the race! I can’t wait!

Today by the numbers:

60-degrees outside! In the middle of January! I’m a fan. This weather is expected to last through Monday.

4-miles ran before work this morning. 12:00/mile. Training for the Lincoln Half is coming along nicely.

6-days I get to work this week. I’m grumpy about that. But tomorrow should be done by noon so I can run outside!

2-miles I walked after work. Another long day of meetings and another dinner tonight with my co-workers and work leadership means I didn’t have time for a run and shower, so I opted for a walk.

3-times I got honked at during my walk tonight. The last guy even waved at me. Thanks random dude.

I’m glad I get Monday off, but this long weekend is pretty much shot. Sometimes I hate having plans!
