Am I the only one who sees this as an invitation to run THROUGH there during hot and humid runs like today’s was?

No? Yes?

Either way, you can believe I ran right through the sprinklers this morning. A lot of people had theirs going so I took it as an open invitation to cool off. It was nice. It’s already 73° and very humid and sunny.

This makes 2 days in a row that I did my run before work! Success!

Have a good hump day!

Gross picture of the day: the 2 bugs that stuck to me during my run this morning! Yuck.
A big thanks to Amy (runningshew) for texting me at 6am to get my butt out of bed and to go run! I’m so glad I did, it’s already quite warm and humid…I certainly don’t want to do it after work!

Happy Tuesday friends!

This was a fairly terrible run. My legs felt like lead most of the way. It was hot and sunny (85°) and low humidity. But I did it and that’s what matters. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 95° and quite sunny and warm. So I will be up in the morning to get my run in, promise! Either that…or it’s not getting done…and that’s not an option!

Have a good night friends!

Do I have enough sense to come in out of the rain?

Apparently not.

I was nearly 4 miles into my 7 mile run when the rain started. It wasn’t that bad, just sprinkling.

Then the heavens opened up. We’re talking rain-coming down in sheets, streets suddenly flooded with water-kind of rain. I sought shelter under a tree when the first crack of thunder hit. (There was no lightning). After about 5 minutes of this without it letting up, I called my friends to come get me and wearily accepted the defeat of my run.

As I was waiting for her to arrive, the rain let up and I was tempted to start running again. When she arrived the deluge was coming again. She took me home and I had decided to finish my 3 miles on my treadmill despite having developed my summer aversion to the machine.

However! My roomie was still asleep and I didn’t want to wake her so I ran an errand and when I came back I decided it wasn’t going to rain again for the time it world take me to finish my run so I headed back out.

Moral of this story? I finished the run. And I’m soaked in a mix of sweat and rain. It didn’t rain on me again. Maybe just a few sprinkles…However, despite feeling very hardcore running in the pouring rain I’d like to think I have enough sense to come in out of a thunderstorm!

Now I must shower and get ready for my friend’s wedding! Happy Saturday friends!

7 miles done.

Clockwise from top left:
I have always used the Razz flavor of the Cliff gels. But when I went to buy more before the Lincoln half last month I found the vanilla flavor. I like pretty much anything vanilla flavored so it stood to reason that I would like this. So i bought one and waited to try it on a long run that wasn’t a race day. OMG you guys! Its delicious! Tastes a little like candy and not gross and gel like at all. This could be dangerous. Its yummy.

The weather was perfect temperature-wise. 60°, cool, and cloudy. But that wind? 20-25mph gusts for the second half of my run. That was super fun. It was good to be pushed though.

Me, post run. Nice and sweaty! I’ve earned my shower and my first pedicure of the season! Can’t wait! I also got whistled at while i was running today…that’s always nice! It was one of those loud, piercing whistles that startled me. In fact, I was looking the other way because i was crossing over this small stream that was very full due to all the recent storms. I’ll take a wolf whistle any day! 😉

I’m having a Melissa day today…pedicure a little shopping, then i have to work at my PT job tonight. Should be a good day!

Happy Saturday friends!

Pardon scary morning post-run Melissa! I just wanted to show you the lovely sweat ring I got this morning from my 2 mile run! It’s super humid and it sprinkled on me a bit during my quick little run. But i took the same route I did last night and was 33 seconds faster per mile! I guess morning running is for me!

Good run, lots of sweat. Now I’m going to hit the showers to get ready for a very long day: I work both jobs today so it’s likely to be a 13ish hour day. Yay….

Happy Wednesday friends!

Life is strange

In the past 36 hours I’ve:

  • managed to lock myself out of the house. One roomie was in Omaha with her BF and the other was teaching Dance. I had to go steal Dance teacher’s keys to get into the house. I had taken my key off my ring to go run with Monday night and forgotten to put it back on. I’m going to make a copy tomorrow!
  • been complimented by my boss for putting our main female anchor in her place. I hit her with a low blow, and shouldn’t have said what I did, but he was glad I did and thanked me for doing it. So odd.
  • In other news, in the interest in putting myself out there…and the fact that my Match subscription doesn’t expire until May 14th or something like that, I’m emailing with 3 other guys.  We shall see.  If nothing else, I’m sure they will give me more stories, right?
  • My friend was telling me about a guy that she knows that she thinks I should meet. His name is Scott. I had a knee-jerk reaction, but told her if she thinks it would be a good fit, to set it up. 4th times the charm? 🙂
  • Just when I thought Joey was also doing the slow fade (and for once I didn’t mind!) he texted me last night. I really don’t want to end things in a text. Need to find my guts somewhere.
  • I was supposed to run 2 miles tonight to taper for the Lincoln Half Marathon on Sunday. I had to get on the treadmill and could only force myself to do 1 mile. I just wasn’t feelin’ it. The weather has been fantastic for days…and then the bottom dropped out today. It was 80 yesterday and now, as I sit here its sleeting/snowing/raining and 31 degrees. Mother nature, you are drunk. image
  • Bailee comes to run the Lincoln Half this weekend! Can’t wait to see her!!
  • Now that its May, in just over 2 weeks, Bailee and I will head to Fargo to be reunited with Brooke and Johnna!! Chicago Tumblr reunion!! So excited!!!!

Have a great night friends!
