I’m on vacation!

As of 5:45pm CDT, I’m off until August 5th! I’m so excited for a little time away! Work has really been draining this last 6 weeks or so.

I’m really excited for tomorrow…I’m going tubing down the river (despite the drought) with my morning anchor and her husband and some friends of hers. Its a 6 hour trip down the river. Basically, our inner tubes are tied together and we float down the river, drinking and eating whatever we bring! Sounds like a pretty fantastic Saturday!

At some point this weekend I have to run a half marathon. It may have to happen Sunday the way tomorrow is looking! Oh well, it will get done, I promise!

Next week, I plan on running, relaxing, sleeping, shopping, and spending A LOT of time in the pool!

Have a great weekend friends!

Scenes from the Warrior Dash. It was a little scary, but so much fun! I did so much more than I ever thought I could do! I climbed up rope walls, sloshed through mud, jumped over fire, and crawled under barb wire…just to name a few! If you ever get the chance to do a Warrior Dash, don’t question it, just do it!! It was awesome! Even though some random man had to pull me out of the mud pit because my shoes had no traction!

Lindsay and I before the run, After the run, on my way home–I had been hosed down by a fireman and was still super muddy! And I got this sweet hat!

Lincoln Marathon weekend

It’s here! I’m so excited to run half-marathon number 2! The forecast looks fairly crap-tacular. Wind and rain in the forecast. But one thing I’ve learned about Nebraska is that the weather always changes. And if you don’t like it, just wait a minute, it will change!

Tomorrow, I get to meet Steph and Victoria and hang out again with Holli and Lindsay! Sunday is the half and I’m ready to go!

Have a great weekend friends!

Attention Lincoln Marathon Runners!

Holli and I were talking and she can’t meet up with us to hear Ben speak at the Expo or go to the pastathon because she has to work, so we were thinking that we could all meet up at Braeda at 48th and O at 6:30pm Saturday night before the Marathon.

I still plan on going to the pastathon around 4pm, but I think we all need to hang out before the race!

So be there or be square!

Scenes from my 12 mile long run today. It was a gorgeous day, with a strong headwind on my way back. But I made it! I found a trail I think I will use for all of my long runs for awhile. There was not another soul on it, and it was flat and peaceful! Loved it! Happy Easter friends!

“Don’t get too high about your good runs or too down about your bad runs”

Today’s run sucked. I had 4.5 miles on the schedule, was going to do my 9 mile long run instead, and ended up with 3.1.

Ugh.

My stomach hurt pretty much from the get-go. I couldn’t get my breathing regulated and I felt like crap pretty much the whole run.

But they can’t all be good runs, right?

So, as I was thinking about that, this quote came to mind. I don’t know who said it, but I know that its just what I need to hear. Yesterday’s run was awesome.  I did speed work and ran 8 X 400 meters at a 9:22 pace. I was flying. I felt alive and so happy. And I was on the treadmill.

Today? Today was terrible. My pace was decent–when I could run. About a 10:00/mile. But I had to walk so much I ended up with a 12:27 pace.

The thing that irritates me the most is that the weather is PERFECT for a run. 68 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, sunny, pretty windy, but otherwise gorgeous. I ran in shorts and a t-shirt. In the middle of March. In Nebraska. That was fantastic!

Tomorrow its suppose to rain, but I think I may try for my 9 miles outside anyway. I don’t think I can handle the treadmill for nearly 2 hours! 🙂

Happy Saturday friends!
