Spring Fever!

It is 65 degrees in Lincoln right now…on track to hit 75 today.

All I want to do is go outside and run.

Or twirl.

Yeah, maybe I’ll go twirl. 🙂  But this would probably happen.

In other news, my TV station periodically gets tickets to shows and musicals and my TV Station GM gave me tickets to go see Boyz II Men in April. I am ridiculously excited about this!

Anyway, have a great day friends!

“Where the wind comes whipping down the plains…”

I’m not in Oklahoma. I’m in Nebraska. But we have some pretty amazing winds here too, so I felt like quoting the song!

Today’s weather would have been perfect for running, minus the crazy winds that were blowing outside. But I had a 10k on the schedule, and I was not about to run it on a treadmill when it was so nice outside!

Today’s long run, by the numbers:

6.2-Miles ran

59-Degrees outside

40-Mile per hour wind gusts.

8:00-My best pace, according to my Garmin. When I had the wind at my back, I was booking it. I averaged a 9:40 pace then!

11:17-my average pace for the run. I had to walk some when I felt like the wind was going to blow me over. So I consider this pace a victory!

Well, I’m off to relax to and catch up with my DVR. I have to say the amazingness that I have seen across my dashboard was an inspiration to me today! You all rock!

Have a good Sunday friends! 🙂

Snow-Mageddon is coming!

At least that’s what the meteorologists will have you believe. My Chief Meteorologist said today that one of his models is forecasting 1.73 inches of snow for Lincoln this weekend. The other? 32 inches of snow.

32 inches of snow!In one storm? Oh for the love! Right now, they are saying 4-8 inches of snow, and it could all change. It was 70 degrees here on Monday, and highs have been in the 60’s the rest of the week!

I’m hitting the store tonight for the items to make that chicken braid and some taco soup and plan to hibernate all weekend. Just me and the DVR.

Although, my boss did come to me and tell me that if it does snow 1.5 feet+ of snow then I will have to come in to work. I told him that I was not willing to risk life and limb for my TV station and if it is SAFE, then I will come in. Harsh? Maybe, but I certainly don’t get paid enough to do that!

The thing about Nebraska weather is that if you don’t like it, just wait a minute, it will change. And change is coming! Sad I didn’t get any runs outside in while it was nice. I have 3 on the schedule for tomorrow morning, another 3 for Saturday and then Sunday’s long run is 6.

Have a good evening friends!

It was 55 degrees here today! No snow in sight, just a gorgeous, sunny slightly windy Sunday. So, I went for a little run.

5 miles. 57:09. 11:35 pace. I had to walk a bit, but I ran most of it. It was a good run. I needed this run. I ran some hills. I had to walk after them, but I kept going. And isn’t that what life is all about? When you run into an obstacle you find a way over it or around it. You just have to keep going.

I also got chased by 3 dogs today. New one day record!

Anywho, have a good Sunday friends!

Holiday 5k, meetups, pancakes and running tights

Today was the Holiday 5k to benefit the Capital Humane Society. It was an un-timed race, which made it the perfect race to meet my new friends Lindsay and Holli from the Tumblr-universe. They are great girls and I’m super excited to have some new friends to hang out. Especially ones that don’t mind me talking about running all the time! 🙂

After the run, my parents and I went to I-Hop for brunch. I had their holiday pancakes with zero regret. They are delicious!

I wore my new running tights for the 5k, and since we were going out to eat right afterwards I didn’t have a chance to change clothes. I know I was over-reacting a bit, but I felt like everyone was staring at me! These are legit running tights–the tightest pants I’ve ever worn in public and left NOTHING to the imagination. Oh well, I’ve worked hard for this body, right?!

I told my mom I thought some dude was staring at my pants. She laughed and said he was staring at what was in those pants. I blushed bright red. My tushie was on display here people!

After brunch, we hit a few stores to shop for Christmas presents for my nephews. I gradually got more comfortable and forgot I was just wearing running tights. NSV? Whatevs. Today was a good day! I hope you all had one as well!

Whoops!

I went Christmas shopping today. Correction. I attempted to go Christmas shopping today. Apparently, someone needs to remind me that this season is about giving gifts to others, not myself. Because I bought myself 3 new sweaters, 2 new pairs of tights a new bra, and some warmer running socks. In my defense, I did buy one Christmas present for one of my friends. So there’s that.

However, I went to Loft. I am addicted to this store. Seriously. I love love love it. They were having a sale. 30% off your purchase. If you spent over $100 then you got 40% off. I also had a card that gave me $25 bucks off if I spent $50. And I signed up for their credit card, which gave me 15% off on top of that. Because, let’s be honest, I shop there a lot and I can use the rewards you get. So my total before discounts was $248. I was freaking out inside! I hoped I had done the mental math right! Grand total with all my discounts? $90. For 3 sweaters, 2 pairs of tights and a Christmas present. Not too shabby. I saved nearly $160!! I call that good shopping. Sorry I’m not sorry. I need new clothes too. My winter clothes from last year are too big.

Tomorrow is the Big Nebraska Tumblr Meetup! I’m super excited to get to meet LindsayDoesLife and CupcakesandChaucer!

Winter hit Nebraska today. It snowed about 4 inches I would guess. Our Holiday 5k course is in a park on the cross country trail. I had planned on getting new running shoes either this month or next, before I started training for the Lincoln Half-Marathon in May, but I think I’m going to need the new shoes sooner rather than later!

Temps are expected to be around 30 when we run. I don’t usually do cold weather running, so this could be exciting!

For now, I’m going to enjoy a little football and relax before the big run!

Have a great night friends!

Lincoln Half-Marathon

Registration opened today. The race is May 6th. The site said the registration opened at 10am…I was registered by 10:45am! So Excited to run my 2nd Half-Marathon! They only let 10,000 people run it, so CupcakesandChaucer and LindsayDoesLife, lets do this together!

Its supposed to snow Saturday. My meteorologists at work say the models say 4-8 inches are possible. I’m running a 5k on Sunday with Cupcakes. I haven’t really done any snow running, so this could be fun!

Who would have thought just a few years ago that I would be so excited to spend $60 to run 13.1 miles in May? I can’t wait! 🙂

Have a good day friends!
