Busy, busy

Can I have a weekend from my weekend?  It was a good weekend, all in all. Friday night after my movie date with myself I went out with some of my friends. We ended up having a good time. When we got to the bar, my friend R and I were standing waiting for our other friend to get money out of the ATM when I saw 2 olderish guys (late 30’s?) approaching us. They both touched me on the arms, and told us that they thought we looked “fun.” And that they thought we were fun. When the guy asked who was the more fun one, I told him R was. Because upon closer inspection these guys were closer to 50 than 30. We told them we were going to meet our friends, and they said that they “would watch us.” Kinda creepy.

Friday night was fun, got to see a friend I haven’t seen for awhile and meet her new bf. Then Saturday I got up and went for a run. Nothing big, just a good run. Then I went to work and produced our Husker post game show. I was out by 7pm.

Sunday was AWESOME! I went to see the Broadway musical “Jersey Boys”. It was AMAZING!!!! I didn’t want it to be over! So good. We had fabulous seats too: they covered the orchestra pit and put 2 rows there, and we were in the second row on the orchestra pit. We could see the sweat run down their faces! Such a good show! Also, on the way up to Omaha for the show, I got a 45 minute nap in. The last time I took a nap was January of 2010 when I came home from Hawaii and fell asleep in the car on the way home from the airport. It was the best nap ever! I felt so refreshed afterwards.

So next week, the Nebraska-Wisconsin game is on ABC, 7pm telecast. I’m guessing its a national broadcast. I get to work that day too.

I got up this morning and went for a run. Sadly, it was too dark for me to feel comfortable running outside, so I treadmill-ed it. 3.25 miles, 10:54 pace. Not too shabby. It was a pretty great run. One of those where everything is working in concert. I was happy. Good way to start the day!

Anywho, have a great day friends!

Meh.

Today has been, kind of ehhhhh. If don’t know if it is due to the weather. (Its cold, 49 degrees, grey and rainy.) Or if its due to the fact that I have to work tomorrow for the Husker football game. (Someone has to produce our post game shows!) Or if its because of a certain man and a lack of communication. I’m not sure. I’ve been a crabby appleton today.

So I’m doing something about it: I can’t control the weather, but I can wear an adorable new husker hoodie! I have to work tomorrow, but I can go for a run in the morning before work. I can’t control this man, or his communicating, but I can control my reaction. I’m going out tonight and plan on having a great time! I’m not in a relationship, and therefore I’m going to have fun!

So, seeing as no one wanted to go see the movie “Midnight in Paris” with me, I’m taking myself to the movies! I’m a good date! I promise! Then, I’m going out with my girlfriends!

I shouldn’t complain about being alone. I had 2 offers for dates within 10 minutes tonight! There are 2 guys who are the reason why I don’t appear on facebook chat. Everytime I’m on, they talk to me and are a bit creepy. So I just don’t appear. Today, I was on chat and they BOTH chatted me up! One wanted to go out tonight, and the other wanted to take me to a soccer game in Kansas City for the weekend! Um, no thanks?!

Anywho, have a good weekend friends!

Scenes from a busy weekend.

I got up early on Saturday and went on a run. I have learned my lesson: I can’t eat much before running. I fought a stomach cramp most of the run. It was not pretty. That afternoon I went tailgating with friends before the Husker game! We had a good time. I’m pictured with a co-worker and his old roomie. They are ridiculously buff! I went to the game with another friend. We had a good time. Sunday, Lincoln had an airshow featuring the Blue Angels. I took my parents, as my dad loves history, especially world war II history. We had fun. My TV station gave us VIP passes and so we got to go to the VIP tent, had awesome parking and free food. On the downside, I ended up getting a pretty wicked sunburn, despite putting on sunscreen. My arms, neck and legs are so sore!

Hope you all have a great week!

I need (g)love(s)!

So its been one of those weeks. The kind that get away from you and when you blink all of the sudden its Friday afternoon. Whew.

I’m really glad its Friday. And with that, I give you my random musings from the past week:

  • Fall arrived early to Nebraska. However, summer may be making a one day comeback next week. On my runs this week my wardrobe changed from a t-shirt and shorts to capri’s and long sleeves. Either a jacket or a long sleeved running shirt. And I was still a little chilly. 48 degrees at 6:30am is a little cool when one is used to 65-70 degrees.
  • I couldn’t find my gloves for most of the week. I unearthed them last night. (they were with my running hats and such. Good place for ‘em.) Today’s run was muuuch better. My hands weren’t bright red and sooo cold.
  • The sun does not come up until 7am. So as I run out the door at 6:30 it is still a little bit dark. Street lights are still on. Its kind of cool to see the sun come up.
  • I dressed like a cat burglar on my morning run today. It was unintentional. My one and only long sleeved running shirt is black with some purple and I wore black capri’s with a purple stripe to match! (You have to match, right?!) I got some weird looks from the few people who were up early as I was running through town. I think they thought I had stolen some stuff. I will post a picture.
  • I was irritated about something today and my male boss kept telling me to “let it go.” And “its not cancer.” You know what? I know that, but I am allowed to be irritated and there is nofaster way to rile me up than to tell me to let some go. My blood pressure is rising just thinking about that. Grr.
  • I have a 3 day weekend. I have to work Saturday for the Husker game, so I am taking Monday off. A much needed mini vacay
  • Well, that’s all I got for today. It’s been a long week.

Have a good weekend friends!

It’s only 11am…

And I’ve already worked a full day. I volunteered to do the morning show so my AM/Midday producer could have the holiday off. It seemed like a good idea at the time. When I woke up at 2:15am it seemed like THE WORST IDEA EVER.

However, its a gorgeous here, I’m off at noon and go back to my regular 9:30-6:30 shift tomorrow. So its almost like having another day off. I plan on shopping because Ann Taylor Loft keeps emailing me and telling me their sale is ending TODAY, so I should head on over and check it out.

I also may head out for a run this afternoon. The weather here is gorgeous! It was 46 degrees when I left this morning, but 72 is forecasted for the high. Fall appears to be making an early appearance in Nebraska! I don’t mind, its perfect running weather!

So, as I labor on Labor day, I hope those of you who don’t have to, have a wonderful day!

It’s Always Darkest Before Dawn…

Where did the summer go? Where did the early morning sun go? I was up at 5:45am to run at 6am, and despite my recent aversion to the treadmill, I had to get on it and go. It was DARK. Like middle of the night dark. And foggy. And a little bit creepy out. I decided that I’m no Kimijoy and don’t run outside, in the dark, in the middle of the night! Although she makes it look easy!

So today’s run was pretty good…despite being on the treadmill. 4 miles, 11:05 pace. No walking. Just running. And…I’m down another pound! 152lbs today! I’m aiming for 147.5 lbs. If I get there, then I’ve lost half my body weight. We shall see if I can get there. My body appears to be determined to hold onto the last few pounds.

Anywho, have a great day friends!

Rainy days and Tuesdays…?

My alarm went off at 5:45am and I was ready to get up and go for my run. I had gone to bed at 9:00pm and felt like I had caught up on some of the sleep that I’ve been missing for the past two weeks. It was glorious. Then I heard it. The roll of thunder broke through my quiet morning. Then lightning flashed across the sky. And as I seem to have an aversion to the treadmill lately, I simply reset my alarm and fell promptly back asleep.

I have got to get over my sudden hatred of the treadmill. I used to LOVE that thing. Seriously, love it. I would have run my half marathon on it if I could have. But now? I’m over it. Can’t stand it. Ugh.

So, tomorrow, come rain or high water, I’m running. Be it outside (yes please!) or on the treadmill (sigh.) I will do it. No excuses. I am treating today as my rest day, so there’s that.

So friends, have a great day! I’m trying to!

Monday-Runday!

I didn’t want to get out of bed. I was warm. And snuggly. And was sleeping really good. I was having some dream that involved a co-worker, my ex and I and an airplane, and my ex and I were making out. It was a good dream. Albeit slightly disturbing. However, I was tired and when the alarm went off it was an inner battle to get up.

I was so glad that I did! Today’s run was perfect! 60 degrees at 6:30am, humidty wasn’t too bad, and I ran THE WHOLE THING!!! No having to stop and walk because the humidity/temperatures were too much for me! It was just a perfect, fantastic run! 3.1 miles, 10:40 pace, What a great feeling!

It’s true what they say, you only regret the runs you don’t take. I don’t regret getting up early and running.

Towards the end of the run, when I had about .20 left, I even had enough left in the reserve to sprint the last of the run. I ran that at a 8:40-9:10 pace! That is huge for me people!

Anywho, have a great day friends!

Today was a pretty great day! 5k run at 7am (on a Saturday! gasp!) farmer’s market, lunch with my mom, shopping, and a massage! I had some NSV’s too! I tried on (and fit into!) a pair of size 8 jeans! Yeah baby! I didn’t buy them, they were 80 bucks! But knowing I can wear them did wonders for my self esteem!

My mom and I made a day out of it, by shopping and hanging out.

I bought some new Husker gear, (season starts next week!! Go Big Red!!)

Then we went and got Mani/Pedi’s–my toes are red with white ‘N’s on them–for the Huskers! Die hard fan here people!  🙂 BTW- the OPI name for the color red that I randomly chose? “The Thrill of Brazil”. I swear to you I did not choose that because of The Man From Brazil. It just happened! Honest.

I’ve had a pretty great Saturday, hoping the rest of the weekend is much of the same!

On the other hand, I worry for my friends on the East Coast! Stay safe!!
