Well, that’s no good.

The Lincoln Marathon sends out info emails to all participants in the weeks before the race. This gem just popped into my inbox. Please don’t freak out two-o-nine and runningfortheriesling! We’ll be fine! In 2012 it thunderstormed until right before the race, then the skies cleared and the humidity shot through the roof. I still managed to PR my time that year! Positive thoughts!!!

The email says it will be in the upper 50′s at the start of the race at 7am, and the mid to upper 70′s by noon. (we should be long done by that point!) It gives hydration pointers and tells you flat out not to wear pants, sweatsuits, or long sleeves.

So…I’m thinking we get some Froyo Friday night AND post-race on Sunday?!??!?!

Pray for us friends. Brooke and Sam may never want to come back to Nebraska to visit me again if this race goes wrong!

Perks of your office being on a university campus: when they close for snow, our offices are closed!

First snow day I’ve had since I was a University of Nebraska-Lincoln student a few (ahem!) years ago!

Fun fact: my old news director texted me today and told me I had to come into work. I texted back and lol’d him. He told me he missed me. Today marks 6 months since I left The Ocho. I’m so happy with this life change! I still love my TV news friends, but I really think I’ve found my place.

What a difference 24 hours makes!

We’re at about 7 inches of snow and it’s still coming down. I’m not even going to try to shovel until later. My street is plowed because I live directly across from a hospital so I’m on a snow route. However, that means they pushed the snow into my driveway.

So that means it’s time for a leisurely breakfast and then I’m going to attempt to run some miles later. I’m going to cross my fingers and hope the neighbor boy wants to make some money and will scoop our snow!

My dad works overnights and he had to walk home about 2 miles after the car went into the ditch. I’m just thankful he’s ok. They’ve closed parts of the interstate due to accidents. It’s scary out there. We’ve been pretty lucky lately and haven’t seen this kind of snow.

Stay safe friends!

The most random things really do happen to me!

I was walking back to my office on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus when I saw Herbie Husker (The Nebraska Mascot!). I decided to get my picture taken with him. Herbie had other ideas! He reached out and held my hand, and that’s how we walked across campus; hand in hand, the entire way!  We got a lot of stares on our trek. Since Herbie doesn’t talk it was a bizarre stroll! Before he left me, we took a selfie!

I’m pretty sure a man wears that mascot costume! 😉

Scenes from a pretty good weekend (and Monday so far!)

  • I went to the Husker game on Saturday with My mom and her friend and my friend. Good times. My Huskers won. It was a gorgeous day.
  • At the game, during kickoff, students and a lot of other people in south stadium take off their shoes. This hardcore fan took it one step further and took off his prosthetic leg! Dedication, man.
  • It was a warm one Sunday! 84 degrees on October 26th?!? What is this? I went for a very warm run in the “heat” of the day. I regretted it almost immediately.
  • Today I had my 6 month dental check up–No cavities!! And then, Since I’ll be out of town during the election next week, I went to vote early. I had to, my former roomie (The state Senator) is running for State Auditor! She got my vote!

Busy week ahead. Have a good one friends!

Happy Friday Five!

  1. Before and After shots. Because I post a lot of sweaty selfies and sometimes I think I clean up nice too. Hot, humid and sweaty run this morning. 71 degrees at 6am? Ugh. All the sweat. Last night’s Froyo dinner was MAGIC because I’m down a pound! I’ll take it! 🙂
  2. My dressy shorts I wore to work today are actually longer than my running shorts. Huh. I’m loving my outfit. Feelin’ nautical or something like that.
  3. Working at Corky tonight! Haven’t been there in FOREVER! Miss those ladies.
  4. I really want to go shopping for more clothes. So many sales right now. Somebody stop me!
  5. It’s Friday. I’m in a good mood. Hope you’re feeling the same way friends!
