Saturday morning happy place.

5 miles in warm and slightly humid temperatures. I forget how hot the sun is, even at 10am! It was a good run. Peaceful, until a dog scared me when it started barking at me from the backseat of the car it was driving by in! My heart started racing!

My sheets are in the laundry, I’m about to find some breakfast and make some banana bread and energy bars. A trip tho my favorite froyo place is also on tap before I head to Corky tonight.

Busy day, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Enjoy your Saturday friends!

It’s a little humid in Nebraska today.

3.5 miles this morning. Average pace of 11:24.

I usually don’t like race t-shirts. Especially grey ones. There are many reasons, the first being that t-shirt manufacturers don’t seem to believe that you can be small on top and tall. So when I get my small or medium women’s size tech shirt it is usually too short in length. It fits just fine everywhere else, it just makes me feel like my stomach is going to show.

But this one from the Manitoba Half Marathon a couple weeks ago is great. It’s long enough and it actually fits! However, it is grey. And grey shows how much I sweat. And I sweat a lot. Especially when the humidity is high at 6:30 in the morning!

I did not want to get up and run this morning. But, as always, I am glad I did. It’s a great way to wake up and get the blood pumping!

Have a great Thursday friends!

That spot I’m pointing to is the only dry spot on my shirt today. This was a humid and strange run this morning.

  • I woke up at 5:10am and could not go back to sleep. I laid there until 5:40ish and then decided to start the day. As a result I was out the door by 6:10 for my run. Normally I’m on my way by 6:45.
  • So I decided to run 5 miles before work this morning! Hooray!
  • All the sweat ensued.
  • But it was a gorgeous morning. And I’m working at Corky tonight so I already consider today a success!
  • My right lymph node is sore/swollen. My nurse mother thinks that I’m either getting sick or fighting an infection. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Sleep and Vitamin C are my friends. I have a Vacation and Half Marathon next weekend! Get with the program body!
  • I get to sleep in tomorrow. I’m stupid happy about that.
  • My bestie’s birthday is Sunday. We are celebrating tomorrow. I still don’t know what to get her. Crap. 11th hour present time. I hate that! Any good ideas?

Happy Friday!!

Scenes from my morning:

Crap, it’s humid today. 70 degrees at 6am. I was soaked in sweat from head to toe, dripping with it even. So gross. But all of it earned. That felt good. The cumulative exhaustion of running and (biking!) every single day since Sunday (go me!!) made for fatigued legs this morning. 3.1 miles in about 35 minutes. It’s all good. It makes for 23ish miles for the week. I’m pleased.

Those roses are in my front yard. So pretty! I think that’s a baby praying mantis on the 2nd one. I dig it.

I’m in a pretty good mood. It’s Friday, it’s a beautiful day, and I’ve got endorphins going in me! I read somewhere that you need 30 minutes of sunlight a day to help boost your mood. My morning runs in the summers do exactly that. Happiness is found in my running shoes.

Have a great day and weekend friends!

Good morning my lovelies!

Busting out a 5k before breakfast. All the sweat again today. More slower miles as I’m not quite used to the weather. I give you guys a lot of gross, sweaty pics, so I thought I would show you that I CAN clean up alright! What a difference a shower makes, right?!

Also, I’ve had some decent luck lately with watermelons. I’m obsessed. There’s also a Tupperware full of strawberries on the bottom right.

Every day that I don’t eat a bunch of candy (read: Jr. Mints) I consider it a win. If I eat copious amounts of fruit after dinner then I’m so full from that then I don’t want to eat the sugar. It’s all a mind game I play with myself. I think most weight loss is. You have to trick yourself sometimes. Then, it becomes easy. At least for me!

Have a great day friends!!

I’m literally dripping with sweat after tonight’s run.
I Couldn’t get up any earlier this morning and run because my dentist appointment was at 8 a.m. And I have enough trouble getting to work at 8:45 in the morning on a normal day. So an after work run it was!

Dude. I’m not complaining about the warm weather because its so great to have warm weather again. But, whew! I’m not used to it yet! Slow miles tonight. More walking than usual. But its all good.

Also, how do I have friends or boyfriends? I’m sooooooo sexy post-run! 😉

Happy Friday Friends!! This is one of my new favorite shirts that I got at the Lincoln Marathon. I’m a big fan. In case you don’t know, that’s the shape of the state of Nebraska. I dig it.

This has been THE LONGEST WEEK EVER!! No Joke. I just realized that I haven’t had a full day off since May 4th!! And that was the day I ran the Lincoln Half Marathon so technically, that wasn’t a day off. Oy. I’m tired. And tomorrow I work from 9:30-6pm at Corky.

Calgon, take me away! I plan on a quick run tonight, followed by a Target run, then dinner and some more couch time. Early to bed so I can get up early for another run in the morning before work. I’m exhausted.

Some things of note:

  • My coworker told me that I would make a good hipster. Which confused me. Why? How? What? I’m so confused. Apparently I kind of dress half hipster-ish sometimes. Today is one of those days. Huh. I don’t know.
  • One of our front office ladies retired yesterday. The GM had a happy hour for her. It was a blast hanging out with some of my other coworkers that I usually don’t see outside of work!
  • New Guy. Ehh. That’s such a weird predicament to be in. He keeps texting me, but hasn’t asked me out. I haven’t seen him since last Monday. I had to ask him out on dates 2-4. I’m not doing it again. I’m worth being pursued. And asked out.
  • A lot of you feel the same way I do about pants that don’t fit our muscular calves! Solidarity sisters!
  • I’m still working on losing those strange pounds that I put on after the Half. I’m trying not to obsess. HA! You know me. I’m not the best at that.
  • Conversations with a co-worker are making me do a lot of hard thinking about my Ex that I still talk to. What do I want? What should I do? Maybe it’s time to be honest with myself. And him. Either go big or go home, right?

Have a wonderful weekend friends!!

Scenes from my morning run.

It was 70 degrees at 6:30 this morning!! We’re going for a high of 95 today. That’s right, Ninety-freakin’-five on May 7th. Ouch. The AC was turned on last night.

First run since the Lincoln Half on Sunday. I had a post marathon Sports massage yesterday–she worked out my kinks in my back and quads, and said my IT bands felt “great”. Hooray!

There was a sprinkler on my run this morning. The humidity was at 77%. I ran through the sprinkler. It was amazing.

My brand new running shirt was soaked post-run. (I love that shirt’s saying!!) I feel so pretty! (haha!) But, as evidenced in the 2nd photo, it’s nothing a little shower and blow dryer can’t fix! And yes, I’m wearing a strapless dress. To work. In my defense, I’m covered with a cardigan! 😉

Have a great day friends!!

My Thursday evening run was sheer perfection. Seemingly overnight, spring has exploded across Southeast Nebraska. The trees and flowers are blooming and the air is permeated with their intoxicating scents. Mix that with people grilling out, mowing their lawns and a breeze from the south, along with blue skies and a beautiful sunset and you have the perfect spring night for a run.

I didn’t want to go all day. I spent most of my drive home (all 10 minutes of it!) bargaining with myself that I would run tomorrow. I managed to talk myself into the run. Some notes:

  • I took a different turn than my usual route: it added an extra half mile, but a lot of it was up and down hills. It was fun! I liked “getting lost” in my own neighborhood. I also ran a lot faster on this run. Hooray for improvement!
  • I love Spring in Nebraska. It gives me hope. The renewal of life, the warmth, the sunshine. Love it all.
  • I have a 3rd date on Saturday. Should be fun!
  • Last night at Corky, there was a couple who kept chatting me up. Specifically the guy. He told me (and his girlfriend) that I was “as cool as shi*.” And then he told me that I “was what, 25?” I told him nope, I was 32. And he said I was lying and made me spin for him. It was kind of strange. We talked about dating, and he said he would set me up with his friends except that they were “all fat losers.” Um, thanks anyway? So odd.
  • Corky again tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon. Busy weekend ahead!
  • The Lincoln Marathon is rapidly approaching on Sunday May 4th (Star Wars Day!) I’m feeling much more prepared. Phew.
  • I changed my avatar today. I dig it.
  • I used my new Sonicare Toothbrush for the first time. My teeth feel amazing. Rookie move by Melissa: I took it out of my mouth BEFORE I turned it off, leaving a splattering of toothpaste on the mirror. The mirror has been windexed clean. Whoops! I don’t think I’ll make that mistake again!

Have a wonderful Friday Friends!!
