What’s that I see? Are those Melissa’s legs in SHORTS for an outside run for the first time in forever?

Why yes, yes they are! It is so nice outside. I wanted to run 13 miles, but woke up too late for that. I then decided I could run 7, but cut it down to 5 when I realized my cold was still kicking my butt.

I’m not complaining, but you guys! It was almost humid out! I am not acclimated to the warm weather yet. They’re forecasting thunderstorms possibly tonight, so that explains the humidity and warmth. It was a rough, rough run. 5 miles//12:07 pace. So slow for me. 

There were a few houses with their sprinklers on. I was a fan, especially when the wind caught the water and I got a cool, wet breeze. I was HOT!

And, some trees are blooming. Hooray for spring!

I’m going to hit the showers and get ready to head to Corky this afternoon.

Happy Friday!!!! I’m in a pretty great mood because:

  1. It’s 78 degrees and PERFECT outside!! Light breeze, no clouds. LOVE IT. And the day is almost over. I’m happy, happy.
  2. 80 tomorrow, and some thunderstorms possible. Gotta love it.
  3. I went to the Dentist again for my poor teeth. The good news? I need 4, count em 4, fillings. But NO ROOT CANALS or crowns YAY! He thinks that is the problem…there are some surfaces that are mini cavities. I’m a mess. But its better than any other alternatives. He also says I need to use a Sonicare Toothbrush and this product called Sonicare Air Floss. So that will be expensive. But will hopefully prevent further issues.
  4. I’m planning a long run tomorrow, then 2-11 at Corky. MONEY!!
  5. I got a $1 off coupon to my favorite Froyo place. Love that!

It is 80 degrees outside. I repeat 80 degrees!!!!! 

Why am I stuck inside ALL FREAKIN’ DAY? Gah!

Straight to Corky after work tonight for a sold out class on Wine Down Wednesday. (half price bottles of wine).

Let’s talk about Life:

  • As of yesterday, I paid off another Credit Card!!! This is so, so awesome. I have one left to pay off. I’m thinking that will happen by the end of the year. Fiscal Responsibility FTW!

  • I have 11 more months of Student Loan Payments left!! 
  • I did NOT run last night. One of my bestie’s called; she and her boyfriend went ring shopping on Sunday. There was girl talk to be done. I regret nothing.
  • My cold is kicking my butt. No morning run this morning. 😦
  • However, I’d rather be sick now than the week before the marathon. So I’m fine. No worries. I need to run for my sanity and because I love it. So maybe tomorrow or Friday.
  • My friend made me a marathon music playlist. I’m excited to listen to it. I need some new jams.

The Weekend Is So Close!!

  • My Huskers lost. Bummer.
  • We’re doing 6 minutes of sports in my show. For a little perspective: When I start putting news in the show, I’m working with about 9 minutes of content. They’re TAKING IT ALL!
  • Whatevs, means less work for me on a Friday! 🙂
  • It is super dry here. Like 15% humidity. We’re in extreme Fire danger and consequently I’ve been drinking water like a BOSS. That’s my 3rd full glass today. 24oz. each. And I feel like I can’t get enough. 
  • I work a double at Corky tomorrow. Money baby!
  • I have a 4th date tonight! 😉
  • 11 Miles are on the schedule for this weekend. It’s going to be cold. I don’t want to run on the treadmill. Bah.
  • I’m having lunch and going shopping with one of my besties on Sunday. Can’t wait!
  • I really want a manicure.

Sunday-Run Day!

10 slow miles. 70° and sunny. A gorgeous day. However, The wind was soul-crushing. But once I got to have it at my back? That was fantastic!

That “Eat Breakfast” sign is at a local Elementary School on my route. I dig it. Breakfast is the best. Fan for life.
Also, my phone just corrected “breakfast” in that last sentence to “breasts”. My phone must be a boy.

Its been a pretty great weekend. Days off are awesome. And spending them doing fun things? Even better.

One week until my birthday! Eeek!

This is happening.

50’s this weekend, and then we’re looking at UPPER 50’s next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Oh, I’m sure it will be cold again. In fact, it’s supposed to be in the 30’s tomorrow. But right now? It’s gorgeous. As in, the newsroom door is propped open and its fantastic in here.

I want to leave RIGHT now to go run. Stupid 5pm news.

Yes on both accounts. This day is perfection. Warm(!) And sunny, breezy and fantastic for a run in a t-shirt and capris.

5.05 miles for me, then Lola and I went for a mile walk. The windows are open and I’m relaxing.

Sunday is awesome.

“Ice, ice baby…”

I went running outside for the first time in awhile this morning. The weather and my schedule have not cooperated to make it happen lately. But today, the stars aligned. It’s gorgeous here. Nearly 50 degrees when I was done. But look at that extended forecast–the bottom is going to drop out Sunday when a cold front moves in. 40 degree temperature change! Ugh.

My one complaint during my run? My hometown got about 4 inches of Snow Saturday night, and so we had a white Christmas this week. That was great. But seriously, homeowners! It’s been nearly a week- get your crap together and scoop your sidewalks! I had to slow down and walk or tread lightly because people haven’t scooped and now there is ice mixed with the snow.  Cold weather running problems. Sigh.

I checked my DailyMile and I’m 7 miles away from 750 miles run for the year…so that’s my new goal. 4 days for 7 miles–barring any more illness! I’ve been slow this week since that stomach bug. My appetite isn’t 100% yet and I’ve been so tired. I’ve been grateful for this vacation time–I know I wouldn’t have felt like working! Serendipitous planning!

Today I’m going to go see “Saving Mr. Banks” with my ‘rents. Matinee pricing FTW! Have a great Friday everyone!
