Beast Mode Engaged!

It’s 6am, 83 degrees, 95% humidity, a rain shower just moved through, and a heat advisory to the south for the rest of the day. That means I should go run, right?

Right!

5 miles, 56 minutes. Opressive humidity and heat already at 6am. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right? Ugh.

I have NEVER sweated so much on a run. But I just couldn’t bring myself to run on the treadmill when its nice outside. So I went. The run was good. And you know what was even better?

The very attractive man who ran past me on the trail! He was shirtless and quite handsome! We both said “hi” and kept running past each other.

Same time, same place tomorrow sir? I’ll be there! Now that’s what I call motivation! 😉

This is my shirt after my run. The spot on the right middle where its a bit lighter is the one place where sweat didn’t cover my shirt. So. Much. Sweat!image

Happy Tuesday Friends!

Gorgeous morning for a run! Cool and somewhat humid, but great nonetheless.

I’m 13 days into a 100 day pushup challenge with my roomie and coworker. And we’re planking too…I’m already at 1:05 and boy can I feel it! But when I’m ripped it will be worth it!

Happy Tuesday friends!

P.S. An update on the date is coming!

The man with no pants

One of my running routes takes me through a quiet neighborhood. There’s a house along the route with a patio table and chairs on the front porch where I frequently see a young woman eating her breakfast outside. She’s usually wearing just her bathrobe. No judgment, its Lincoln, its a quiet neighborhood, and i would totally do it too….if I didn’t live on a busy street!

This morning it was her husbands turn to eat breakfast outside apparently! As I ran by I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. The man was sitting in a chair, wearing nothing but his boxers! He calmly sipped his coffee as I ran by….and gave me the head nod. I nodded back….with a big smile on my face!

Dude. I like your style.

🙂 Happy Friday friends! Make it great!

Scenes from this morning’s run:

Holy humidity! It was soupy out there this morning. That made me a little slower due to my heart issue, but it wasn’t too bad.

The next picture is one of the lakes in Lincoln, its not too far from my house and this morning I ran around part of the shoreline. I think around the lake is something like 5 miles so that may become a new route.

Me, after the run. So much sweat.

This silly cat thinks it lives at our house. Sorry Buddy, I can barely afford to feed myself, let alone a stray animal that seems well fed. Sorry ‘bout that. Also, I’m allergic to cats, so there’s that.

And finally, I believe those are hibiscus flowers. I saw them in someone’s yard along the way.

4.5 miles in 50ish minutes.
Good morning friends! That’s how I like to start my day!

Blame it on the weatherman

I woke up to the sounds of rolling thunder and the sight of lightning.
I was so mad! My run outside was thwarted, again! Mother nature is being quite rude lately.
Instead of heading down to my treadmill, I simply reset my alarm and rolled back over.
But there would be no more sleep. Nope, not for this girl. So instead I got up and did Ab Ripper X. Seems like an ok compromise. I guess. I’m itching to get out and run. My legs want to go, I need a good run. Tomorrow morning for sure!

Have a good day friends!

Well, that was an awful run.

Clearly I can’t wait until after work to run. It felt like a sauna out there. Steamy is the best way to describe it.

1 mile in 13:47. That is a terrible time for me. Lots of walking cuz my legs felt dead…and breathing is hard when its so humid.

I WILL get up and run in the morning! Its supposed to be 97° tomorrow and I’m going in to my PT job for a bit after work so I can’t do it then! Accountability.

Scenes from this mornings run:

I found this Owl carved from a tree stump near the eagle I found a few weeks ago. Pretty cool.

This palm tree is in our neighbor down the street’s backyard. I had to take the picture thru their fence. The tree is real. This is Nebraska. I’m confused.

The humidity was bad today. I managed to soak completely through my shirt with my 4.5 mile run. But it was a great run. One of those where you just feel happy to be alive and love being awake and running before the rest of the world is even out of bed. This makes me very happy.

Have a great day friends!

Scenes from this mornings run. One of the streets in my neighborhood is all decked out for Flag Day. They lined both sides of the street with flags. It was pretty cool.

A beautiful flower I found along the way. It’s a lily I believe.

And me, look how sweaty I am only after 3 Miles! Such a humid day. In Nebraska we like to say, “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” Oh sure, it’s hot here most of the summer, but the humidity is killer.

Have a great Friday friends! I’m off work, I took a half day of vacation to get some things done. And it is glorious!

Edit: today marked 4 days in a row that I got up at 6am to run! Hurray!

Perfect morning for a run! Cool and crisp. I managed 3.5 miles once I got up. Amy (runningshew) came through with a wake up text again…thanks girl! It was a good run.

Last night I was supposed to meet my coworkers for karaoke, but they don’t get off until 1035pm…at 1130 one texted me asking where I was….I had fallen asleep on the couch waiting to go out. Whoops! I ended up just going to bed, but then couldn’t fall back asleep until after midnight! It was a short night.

Happy Thursday!
