NSV’s!!

I got this fantastic dress from Loft for Christmas:

Its a black lace dress with a nude slip underneath. Sexy and stylish. I love it. I haven’t had the chance to wear it because its been cold and it doesn’t fit right. I have to get about 6 inches taken in from the top because my hips are a size 8, but the rest of me is like a size 4. I tried the dress on last night and pulled the excess fabric away and was blown away at how skinny I looked. You see yourself everyday, but you don’t see yourself, you know what I mean?

And Later, because I like messing with my own head, I tried on my swimsuit. (full confession, its a bikini! No judgement.)

In the middle of winter.

Normally, this would be a recipe for disaster. But you know what? I felt fine in it. I was happy with what I saw. And that my friends, is a victory all in itself.

Hope you all have a great week!

You know it was a good day when…

You get honked at not once but twice in one day! First time was this morning as I was getting a pair of shoes out of my trunk at work. (Don’t ask. I’ll explain later.) A truck driver honked and waved at me. I waved back.
The second time I was on my way home on the highway and 3 olderish motorcyclists kept staring at me as I turned onto the highway in front of them. (They were stopped at the light.) They honked and waved too!
Not gonna lie, that kinda made my day! When I was heavier no one ever honked! NSV for sure!

Today was a pretty great day! 5k run at 7am (on a Saturday! gasp!) farmer’s market, lunch with my mom, shopping, and a massage! I had some NSV’s too! I tried on (and fit into!) a pair of size 8 jeans! Yeah baby! I didn’t buy them, they were 80 bucks! But knowing I can wear them did wonders for my self esteem!

My mom and I made a day out of it, by shopping and hanging out.

I bought some new Husker gear, (season starts next week!! Go Big Red!!)

Then we went and got Mani/Pedi’s–my toes are red with white ‘N’s on them–for the Huskers! Die hard fan here people!  🙂 BTW- the OPI name for the color red that I randomly chose? “The Thrill of Brazil”. I swear to you I did not choose that because of The Man From Brazil. It just happened! Honest.

I’ve had a pretty great Saturday, hoping the rest of the weekend is much of the same!

On the other hand, I worry for my friends on the East Coast! Stay safe!!

Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend we had a bachelorette party and lingerie shower for one of my co-workers who is getting married in October. We had to do it early because S. is leaving us at the TV station for greener pastures.

About 15 of us girls and the bachelorette’s gay BF went out to dinner and then hit downtown. It was nuts! I had a great time! I will post pictures later, but don’t think that I only own one dress, because I wore the purple one again. I asked the gay BF which of my 4 possibilities to wear, and since everyone was dressing up a bit more, he told me to wear the purple.

I was glad I did! Throughout the evening I noticed a few appreciative glances from guys…what a nice feeling! I also had our morning anchor (who is a former Miss Nebraska!) do my hair and makeup…so I felt fantastic!

At the end of the night as the bar was closing, this very attractive guy came up to me and said, “that dress is so sexy. The purple, the dress, the one shoulder bare. So sexy. YOU are so sexy.”

I blushed! What a nice compliment! I told him thank you so much and then we hugged it out. It was strange, but felt pretty awesome! I just wonder where he was all night, and why he didn’t come up to me sooner!

Man, I wish I would have been brave enough to get his number! Next time! (The likelihood of this ever happening again is slim to none, but if it does, I will get digits, I promise!)

Anywho…have a great week friends!

Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend…

This weekend was busy! I had dinner with one of my best friends from forever…and hung out with her until late Friday night. She lives about 2 hours away from me, and we don’t make the time often enough to see each other. But she and her husband took time off, and I got to see her. It was great!

My parents were out camping for the weekend, so I joined them on Saturday. We went to the lake at the campground and swam. And I, my friends, wore a bikini! That’s right, a bikini! Out in public. For the first time in my life since I was a kid.

I bought it this winter on sale from Victoria’s Secret. I highly recommend buying a suit during the off season…mine was 13 bucks!

I had been wearing it in my backyard pool, but no one but my family could see me. But I decided that I had to wear it, because a) I don’t have any other suit that fits because last year’s swimsuit is waaayy too big, and b). I worked hard for this body and I’m going to flaunt it. It may not be perfect, but it is mine and that’s what matters.

But an amazing thing happened: Men were staring at me! And I don’t think that they were staring because I looked bad. I saw appreciative looks in their eyes! What a great feeling! NSV for sure!

This weekend is a bachelorette party for one of my favorite co-workers, and I am super excited! I will post pictures, I promise!

I also got up and ran 5 miles this morning. It was 6:00am, and already 79 degrees outside. But as it appears there is no relief in sight, I decided to haul my butt out of bed and go. It was hot, I was dripping with sweat, but I ran my 5 miles and feel GREAT about myself!

Have a great day friends!
