Today’s OOTD

I was inspired by @runrunningrunner ‘s post about his OOTD and honestly? I felt cute today and wanted to share that with you all! 😉

I have several blanket scarves and as the weather has gotten colder I broke them out. Most of the time I feel like I don’t know how to drape them, but I feel like I nailed it today!

In other news, I have a busy evening ahead; I’ve got a massage after work (past Melissa was SO SMART for scheduling this!) and then after that, I’m going to a paint and sip event with a friend. I generally dread being out all night on a “school night” but I enjoy doing seasonal activities so I’m sucking it up and going out. I did not drag my butt out of bed this morning to run so I either have to do it after my massage (not a good idea) or just miss two days in a row since I didn’t do it yesterday either. I’m struggling to get up and run before work and sometimes running after work doesn’t happen due to plans. Get it together, Melissa!!

Do you guys remember that I was supposed to see Justin Timberlake in October, but he had to cancel due to his bruised vocal chords? Well, he is rescheduling his rescheduled date for my concert in two weeks. My friend that I was supposed to go with and I decided to just get our money back. After all this drama, I’m kinda glad we did. Plus, the extra cash coming back is a blessing!

Have a good one, cats!

Hump Day Happenings

You guys. This is a REALLLLLY good angle for me. I’m not even going to pretend that this doesn’t make me look about 20 pounds thinner. Smoke and mirrors man. I’ll take it.

I got this dress for a wedding 3 years ago and have worn it to another wedding last year, and that’s it. But I love it so much (it’s even one of our wedding colors!) that I decided it wasn’t too formal to wear to work. If it is, whatevs, I’m bringing style to the office today.

Rio and I went for our morning run today and it was a struggle. 74 and sticky at 6am. I felt super gross but so glad that my exercise was done before 7am!

We are just about to book our wedding trip to Mexico and I was looking at Expedia and the price has dropped about $300 in two weeks! We were planning on going for 8 days, but I decided on a whim to make it for 10 and the price only increased by $40 total sooooo….we’re going for 10 days now!!

My wedding dress arrived yesterday and despite the dreams I had that they ordered the wrong dress, it was the right one and it is perfect! It was even more beautiful than I remembered. 303 days to go!

Have a great rest of your week cats!

Manis and pedi’s and a girl’s night after work last night that culminated in a sleepover. This morning I channeled my inner French girl (I just need a neck scarf and a beret!)
5k today for the National parks 100th birthday because that medal is adorable!! And tonight I’m helping a friend rewrite her resume. Busy day, but the weekend is just ahead!!

Tuesday OOTD

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy dress. And some biceps.

I have to do my weekly check in with @clevcrew tonight. I’m really not looking forward to that because I’m fairly confident that I will likely have a gain. Or at least no loss due to my body being weird the last month. Oh well. Each day is a new day and the chance to start again.

I told my Lincoln tumblr girls that I feel like I’ve had nothing to blog about lately. @dragonbellez told me to post my outfits…So here you go!

Have a good one friends!

Stuff and things

Monday OOTD. I like living on the edge and wore a short dress when it was windy out. That was exciting!

This weekend was busy and I developed a cold. Boo. But I volunteered for the Alzheimer’s gala dinner as a cocktail waitress Saturday night with friends from the ocho. I had a blast. My friend Rob and I do that pose whenever we’re at an event. It’s our nod to how some friends of ours pose when they take pictures together. That’s our best one yet!

Life is chugging along. I’m still working on the health issue from last week (ugh! Day 32!) But my fingers are crossed it fixes itself soon. I finally got the ok to run…and that sucked! I’m hopeful that it was just a fluke and because I’m sick. Not that I’m terrible at running. Sigh.

Have a good week friends!

Sunday selfie.

I’m going to the ocho holiday party this morning with my bff Keith so I wore this to church as well. It’s church and holiday party appropriate! Also, I’ve got some big hair happening!

They have the BEST brunch and my friend who runs it says I’ll get a gift card too… so I’m pretty excited about it!!

Happy Sunday friends!

Tall girl problems

I got this dress for my birthday last year and this is the first time I’ve worn it. Because, as a 5’9" woman it is too short to be considered appropriate for me to wear anywhere without leggings.

But it’s adorable. Red polka dots. Forget the fact that I might look like Minnie mouse…I love it! But look how it barely covers my bum!

Such a first world tall girl problem. So I wore it with leggings and it was fine. Problem solved!

See ya in a bit friends, I’m going to hit the treadmill for some miles!

The story of The Red Coat

I love my red coat. This is the second one I’ve had. I have literally had people stop me on the street and tell me how much they love my coat. I think it’s the dark hair against the bright red coat that causes it to be so striking.

This weekend I had 3 different men tell me that me and my coat were stunning. Seriously. One even said he loved my tiny little waist. He got a big hug for that one! 😉

I’m not sure what was in the water, but I’ll take it! Ladies, my advice? Go buy a red coat! Bask in the compliments! Enjoy!

Tuesday Things

I was in a pretty deep funk last night. For reasons that I’d rather not get into here. However, it appears I’m in good company? As yesterday was blue Monday? I haven’t broken resolutions or anything like that but I’m just tired of some things continually happening in my life. I guess if you want something that you’ve never had, you have to do things that you’ve never done, right? Fine life. I get the picture. You win.

I’m trying to get my head out of that funk and one way is to dress for success. One thing that I really like about my job is that we dress pretty nice most days. I like that. I feel like I do better quality of work when I’m dressed well, you know? So you get to see my outfit today. You get a side view because I’m feeling pretty good about my body lately. Also, note my brand new Kate Spade phone case. I love stripes and I love Kate Spade and I love bright colors, so that’s a win to me!

I have a day of New Employee Orientation tomorrow…I’m 100% not looking forward to that, but everyone has to go.

Training for the Lincoln Half Marathon starts in a few weeks. I’m currently running 2-3 miles a day most days a week. I think that’s also part of my funk. Cold weather, lack of sunlight, and needing a training plan to keep me on track. I don’t know.

I don’t tend to do resolutions, but my goals for this year are to run 2 half marathons, to pay off my credit card, and to be open to new experiences—whatever form they take. I also want to go somewhere on vacation this year, or save for a decent trip next year, whether it’s alone or with someone. Last year I went to Phoenix, Denver, Orlando, Buffalo, NY and upstate New York but only 1 of those was a real vacation. Phoenix and Orlando were work trips, Denver was my best friend’s wedding and Buffalo/Upstate New York was the wedding trip with my then-Boyfriend. So that was a real vacation but not really, you know?

I want to go somewhere with a beach. And drinks with umbrellas. And somewhere I can lose track of time. I need to.

So here’s to 2016 being a great year! I may be in a funk, but I’m going to choose to be happy, because it truly is a choice that requires effort at times. 🙂
