Half Marathon #10 is done! And I beat the blerch!
Time for brunch?!

Flat Melissa is ready to run Omaha.
Since I’m counting the Beat The Blerch half and the Omaha half as one race with 2 medals, I thought I’d wear my shirt tomorrow.
Time for bed, that alarm will ring awfully early tomorrow!

Happy things on a Thursday.
-I ordered a case for my new Galaxy S5 on Monday. When I opened the mail yesterday it was there! It’s silver and sparkly and I love it!
-I just got done FaceTiming with two-o-nine. My heart is happy. I adore the girl. She is KILLING her Marathon training and I can’t wait to come watch her dominate The Twin Cities in a few weeks!
-Tomorrow is Friday. So very glad about that.
-I went to a weight lifting class at my gym last night and I’m going again tomorrow. That makes 2 weeks in row of lifting. I’m so proud of me!
-in the span of about 4 hours yesterday I was told by a random construction worker that I was “wearing the heck out of that red skirt” (see my picture from yesterday with Christian). Then, a man with very few teeth told me to “smile big” as I walked by him. Later, while I was out running, a truck honked twice at me! Guess I’ve still got it! 😉
In other news, another ex-boyfriend got married this past weekend. That makes 2 this summer who have gotten married to the girl they began dating right after we broke up. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I don’t miss those guys or think they were the ones that got away, but I hate feeling like Good Luck Chuck.
I’m running the Omaha half marathon on Sunday. That makes 10 half marathons that I’ve run since 2011…including 4 this year and 4 last year. Next year I plan on only running 2 a year.
Tomorrow is Friday. Happy weekend friends!

After a day full of crappy headspace I came home to a couple of packages in the mail!
First, my Beat the Blerch virtual race kit! Stickers, magnet, shirt, awesome medal and more! I’m a fan! I’m counting the Omaha half in a couple of weeks as that virtual half. 1 race, two medals, total win!
Then, I opened my brand new Samsung Galaxy S5! I have yet to activate it and need a new SIM Card, but still, exciting!
After that I discovered a save the date for a friends wedding in June…in Cabo San Lucas! I’m going to see if that’s feasible, because how fun would that be?!

I got my first paycheck Friday and immediately went out and bought these beautiful things.
Brooks Ghost 7’s. With my frequent buyer discount they were $50 off! They feel sublime.
Excuse me while I go #RunHappy.
Crap, it’s humid. 85% humidity, so that’s fun.
5 miles//57:14. A decent run. So much sweat though! The bottom of my shirt is the only thing that’s still dry!
Full confession: I really haven’t been training for the Omaha Half Marathon next month. Whoops. When I ran it last year I hadn’t trained then and did just fine. Somehow I don’t think that will be the case this year.
So, operation find my running mojo has commenced. More running. More biking. More yoga. I’m making changes, because that seems to be what the theme of this summer is! 🙂
If you’re unhappy with your weight, Melissa, then stop doing what you’ve been doing. Duh. It seems so simple, right? But we don’t want to face the harsh truth that we are our own worst enemy at times. Particularly when it comes to self sabotage. I’m just as guilty as anyone else; I know I can’t have jr. Mints in the house, but do I still buy them? You betcha! I stay up too late, then can’t get up and run. I make every excuse in the book.
But it comes down to this: I want those 7 pounds gone. They’ve suck around since June. I haven’t tried hard enough to get rid of them.
That starts today.
Here we go!
A good run feels like being part of the wind, flowing down the street with a power so strong yet so gentle. It feels like fire, warmth spreading from head to toe instantly. It feels like a shower for the soul, fresh and clear. The sun tickles your fingertips and you could go on forever. In those moments, the world seems so simple and the edge of heaven seems right at your fingertips. And non runners always ask why running is enjoyable. I just shrug because I know the secrets of a distance runner cannot truly be expressed in words to those who have not experienced the wind, fire, and water.
The end is just confirmation of completion. What you did in the middle is what matters.
Happy Friday Five!
