Terrible Tuesday

  • I’m in a dark, twisty place. I’m feeling very sorry for myself and very irritable. I blame hormones.
  • I got home and ran my 4 miles on the treadmill tonight. It was a good run. My roomie ran after I did. Soon she came upstairs to tell me that the treadmill was making funny sounds and slipping.
  • I look at it and the belt is slipping (again) and tearing a bit. (this has all happened before. I used an allen wrench and tightened it up and that fixed it for over a year.
  • Not this time. I tried for over an hour to make it work, and was able to move the belt back over and tighten it up, but its still slipping and being stupid.
  • I gave up. Threw in the towel. Or the wrench.

  • Then, I googled problems with this nordic track treadmill. It may need a new belt. I don’t know. I’m calling Sears tomorrow. I just want someone to come fix it. I love my treadmill. I don’t like going to the gym and running on their treadmills. I feel very self conscious. Also, if I want to run long on the treadmill I feel like I can’t there, ya know?
  • I have a raging headache.
  • I’m tired of the the cold. I just want to go somewhere warm. I want to lay on the beach. Turn off my phone and relax. Is that so much to ask?
  • Wednesday, you need to be better. Not that you have much to live up to.

Scenes from a fantastic run:

8 miles. ON THE TREADMILL!!! It was a freakin’ fantastic run. Last week’s 7 mile run was pretty rough. I didn’t feel like doing it. But today? I was in the zone. Happy to run, wanted to do it, and felt awesome. I had endorphin’s pulsing through my body and I felt wonderful.

It was a centering and calming run. This is the kind of run that made me remember why I love to run.

Fun Melissa fact: when I run, I do math problems in my head. It occupies my brain and before I know it, a lot of time and distance have passed.

The above pictures are of the treadmill, then me, post run. There is a lot of back sweat happening there. Lovely.

Now I’m chilling on the couch and relaxing after my shower. I’m spent!

Happy Sunday Runday friends!

Good afternoon Lovelies!

I got up and ran before work this morning! Success! I’m sure it helped that I didn’t have to go in to speak to the class until 9:30 as opposed to 8:45 when I normally get into work. Anyway, it’s done. This is a picture of my super sexy sweaty back. Yuck. Lots of sweat this morning. 3.5 miles..10:31/mile.

Thanks for all the sweet comments about my public speaking gig and the lists! I’m glad not the only one who loves lists! Order makes me happy. 🙂 The speaking gig went well. The kids had a lot of questions. Love when that happens!

Only 51 Days until Spring! Positive thoughts. Positive thoughts.

I am so excited that I don’t have to run after work tonight!!! Hurray!

Have a wonderful day friends!

Monday, Monday

Lately I’ve been all about the bullet points on here. Does that annoy you or, are you like me, and that helps you read the posts? I like lists. I love things on Buzzfeed and Thought Catalog for this reason.

But I digress.

Let’s chat:

  • I lifted weights tonight. The gym was PACKED. So many good-looking dudes! I was in my happy place! 😉
  • I had some frank conversations with my bestie. Made me evaluate things. Hmm.
  • I’m speaking at my Alma Mater tomorrow. I went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and one of my College of Journalism Professors has me come back each semester to speak to her classes. I talk about what it’s like being a News Producer, and how not all jobs in the biz are on the air. It’s fun and I enjoy doing it. I used to be very shy, so the fact that I am willing to do this sometimes surprises me!
  • I finished “Eleanor and Park” the other day. So. Freakin. Good.
  • On that note, I really like my Nook. It’s portable and fits right in my purse. I love having a book with me at all times.
  • It stresses me out when people say they hate reading. Like, are you proud of that? When a guy says it, I immediately find him less attractive…simply because of that. Reading is SEXY
  • See?
  • I have to run 3.5 miles tomorrow. I think I’m actually going to get it done before work since I speak at this class at 9:30 and am not going in to work until after. I’m pumped.

See ya on the flip side, friends!

“Everybody’s Workin’ for the Weekend”

  • Busy happenings this weekend: Corky tonight and tomorrow morning, long run and weights, grocery shopping and pillow shopping (mine suck) Saturday afternoon and Sunday is the Station’s Christmas party!
  • Going to see “Frozen” again with Holli after the party Sunday! I LOVE that movie! So I’m pumped. Then we’re going to get Froyo I believe. Sunday will be fantastic.
  • The Christmas party has so much amazing food: Waffle Station, Omelette Bar, Prime Rib Station, and then all the other food! YUM.
  • I’m also going to deep-clean my bathroom. Living the dream over here.
  • I work a bunch at Corky in the next 5 weeks. I’m excited. Paying off my credit cards could happen sooner rather than later!
  • I drank so much water today that I feel like I’ve spent most of my day running to the restroom. TMI? Sorry.
  • I am in the middle of “Eleanor and Park” on my Nook. OMG you guys. It is so freakin’ good.
  • On that note, I think I’m going to enjoy my Nook. I’m still getting used to it.
  • Fingers crossed for Sunday because the big prize giveaway at the Christmas party is a Big ol’ TV! And I’ve never won it. 10 years I’ve been at the station and its a no go. I don’t have a nice tv of my own, so this would be amazing! Think good thoughts for me?!

Happy Friday Friends! Enjoy your weekend!

This has been a good day

It had a rather suspect start:

  • When my alarm went off, I was sleeping with my arms folded over my head. They had fallen asleep. The alarm starts ringing. I begin flailing my dead arms around, trying to get control to hit the snooze. I finally manage to knock the alarm to the floor, where the ground caused the snooze to engage. Oof.
  • Ginni, Brooke, Holli, and Becky and I are doing the Brownville, Nebraska Half Marathon on July 4th. You should too. It’s cheap, ($25) and a holiday meet up in Nebraska will be great! Come see us!!!!!!
  • I went to the nearby Jimmy John’s for lunch, and to buy Gift Certificates for the Station’s Holiday Party. 2 of the guys who work there love all of us girls from the station. Today they both just stopped talking and starred at me while I was explaining what I needed. I asked what was wrong, and he said he was lost in my smile! And then he said I needed to come in there everyday and just smile at them. Then he told me that I was fine and should be on the news, because then he would actually watch it! Totally made my day! I told them if I was having a bad day I would come in there! Then he told me how much liked my coat (it’s bright red and belts around my waist) and kept miming the hour glass shape with his hands. They said they were just talking about how women should always wear red, and how it looks good on all of us. I was in a FANTASTIC Mood when I left!
  • I also feel like I’m having a good hair day. See below.

  • I’m going to run 4 miles after work tonight. I feel good about this. I am getting into my training mode and I love it.
  • I am so excited for my friends to come to Nebraska this summer! Can’t wait to meet Ginni, see Brooke and Becky and whoever else is coming too! So very excited!
  • Happy hump day friends!!!

Is this January? Is this Nebraska?

Yes on both accounts. This day is perfection. Warm(!) And sunny, breezy and fantastic for a run in a t-shirt and capris.

5.05 miles for me, then Lola and I went for a mile walk. The windows are open and I’m relaxing.

Sunday is awesome.
