• It’s Friday!! I’m in a good mood, partially because of this little lady. Lola is coming to stay with me from Saturday until next Thursday. Puppy snuggles!!! Ack! She’s a doll.
  • I’m heading to Omaha tonight to see my BFF’s mom tonight. She had knee replacement surgery earlier this week. I need to make a card.
  • I’m working a double shift at Corky tomorrow.
  • It’s supposed to be 55 degrees here on Sunday. I’m supposed to run 6 miles. Coincidence? I think not!
  • A friend told me today that I have “happy handwriting”. That made me happy! I think to think my writing is as cheerful as I am! 🙂
  • I really like this song right now. Sorry I’m not sorry.
  • Also, thanks for all the kind words on this post. Ya’ll know how to make a girl feel good about herself!

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

I am calling this photo “Frick, I’m tired.” Or “I’m far too old to stay out until 1am on a work night.”

Let’s have a chai tea date to discuss this, shall we?

  • My co-workers and I went to Karaoke last night after the 10pm news. Normally, I’m already snuggled in bed by this point…well on my way to sleep. Instead, we headed to a biker bar and sang some Madonna and Bee Gees. Poor Life choice, Good Fun choice. So.very.tired.
  • I got home around 1am and was in bed about 10 minutes later. My alarm went off at 7:30 this morning and I was sure I had JUST fallen asleep. My eyes are burning and my body doesn’t want to move.
  • I have to run a 30 minute tempo run tonight. I don’t wanna. But training doesn’t stop because I stayed out late. So run, eat, then bed I think. That’s winning.
  • I would like to go crawl into a dark edit bay and nap. But sadly, that’s not happening. MUST DO THE NEWS!
  • I bought my first book for my Nook last night–“Eleanor and Park”. Everyone says its so good, and Rainbow Rowell is from Nebraska and I loved her first book so I’m guessing I will love this one too.
  • Currently I’m in the middle of this book. It’s great. Read it.
  • I don’t read more than one book at a time, so “Eleanor and Park” will have to wait.

That’s all I got, have a great day friends!

This is my life.

I fight the training process sometimes because I don’t like being in a routine. But then, after a few weeks of regular running and training I find my happy place and realize I love the routine of it.

Why do I fight it? Because I get bored, and then I love excitement. Then I’m overwhelmed and love routine.

Sigh. I’m very complicated it would seem.

Happiness, in photo form.

I ran 3 miles this morning. Love endorphins! Then I went and got an hour (plus) deep tissue massage. My hamstrings have been bothering me and my lady worked them out. Ahh. Bliss!

And I bought these beautiful things: The Brooks Ghost 6’s. So lovely. So wonderful. So perfect. So freakin’ yellow and bright. I dig it. I’ve worn the Ghost 5’s for a few years now and I’m excited to try these out. AND the next pair of running shoes I get will be $51 off at the Lincoln Running Co. (my local running store) because of my loyal customer/frequent buyer discount! LOVE THAT. My brother and sister in law gave me a gift certificate to the store so I also got some more socks. I’m in my happy place!

Tonight, I’m having dinner with my friend Keith. All in all, its been an awesome Saturday. Gorgeous 48 degree and sunny weather and happy things to do!

Happy Saturday friends!

Friday morning Chai Tea Latte Date! Alternately titled: I’m feeling good about my body today!

  • I went to the gym again last night! 2 days in a row! I didn’t need to lift, just run 3 miles. And even though I can run those miles at my house on my treadmill, my friend said we HAD to go to the gym to do it. So I went. It was good. My treadmill at home has fans built into it–when I get a new one some day when this one dies, that is a MUST HAVE. The gym treadmill does not have fans. I was a hot, sweaty, dripping mess. Felt good.
  • At the gym last night in my line of sight CONSTANTLY was the guy who said “She’s very tall.” Ugh. Seriously?! Thanks for that.
  • That first picture I’m strategically holding the mug to hide a zit on my chin. Like that? Me too!
  • I’ve felt kind of gross and squishy the past few weeks. Today? I’m feelin’ fabulous! It’s amazing what consecutive days of exercise and eating well will do for you! 🙂
  • I don’t think I told you guys, but my 2 best friends bought me a Nook Glowlight for Christmas. This was not something I wanted. I love reading “real” books. The smell, the feel, the act of turning a page? Love it all! So I struggled with wanting to keep it/use it. After much discussion, I opened it last night and will start using it this weekend. Ex Man Friend and I discussed it a lot. He suggested I keep it-ease of use, its light, I can take it anywhere in my purse, etc. Also, my besties would get mad if I returned it!
  • I will do another post on how much I love my Chromebook. It is awesome. I don’t really want it for much besides the internet and writing so it appears to be the perfect thing for me.
  • Also, the Women’s Fitness Room at the Gym is GREAT! It has all the weight machines the the gym has-just inside a room for women only. I LOVE IT!
  • I work at Corky tonight and Sunday. Hoping for some decent tips!

Happy Friday friends!

Yesterday, I did a thing.

I went to the gym! 4 Months ago I signed up for the gym that lets on-air people from our station go for free. My friend is a personal trainer and she talked her boss into letting me go there for free as well. Until yesterday, I had never been back since I had signed up.

My friend and I went and ran a mile and then lifted in the Women’s only fitness room. Full Disclosure: the gym is full of hard bodies and very intimidating to me. The Women’s Only room was a huge plus! I felt so much more comfortable there.

Today, I’m sore. Everywhere. I did a 7 minute workout Monday and was sore from that…and now this is making it worse. But it’s kind of awesome! Running doesn’t make me sore–hasn’t for years. So this is a nice change.

In other news, I opened my Chromebook last night. Review so far: I LOVE it! It’s kind of small, but packs a big punch. (TWSS!) I do wish the screen was a bit bigger: its 11.5 inches. But for $214, it was a good deal!

Hope you all have a great day friends! 🙂

Tuesday morning coffee date!

  • I got up and ran this morning! Victory! 3 miles. I made the mistake of doing a leg circuit last night. Felt that in my quads this morning! Oof.
  • I woke up at 4:45am this morning and I couldn’t go back to sleep. I’m feeling ok now, but I’m sure I will be feeling it later. The wall be hit around 1pm I think.
  • I’m wearing my favorite running shirt! Just for you Becky!
  • I tried a new way to curl my hair this morning. Not sure how I feel about it. Looks pretty much the same as it usually does. Whatevs.
  • Someone reblogged my post about not crying while reading “The Fault In Our Stars” and said I am not human because I didn’t cry. I think Celeste and I have it right: Journalists cannot be fazed! 🙂 However, a lot of you didn’t cry while reading it either. So I’m in good company!
  • I bit the bullet and made a decision about the laptop situation. I bought a Chromebook. It was $242. I have Amazon Prime and I used my Discover Card and applied my rewards to it which made it $214 with free 2 day shipping! The Discover rewards is awesome-its a $1 to $1 match on Amazon so you don’t lose anything by using your rewards there.
  • I’m going to try this whole weight lifting and strength training thing this time around during Marathon training. Can’t hurt, right?
  • I’ve suddenly found myself committed to 4 Halfs this year! How great is that? Lincoln in May, Manitoba in June with Brooke, the Brownville, NE half on July 4th with Ginni and maybe someone else! 🙂 and the Omaha half in September with me, myself and I. Unless someone else wants to do it with me! I like that I have a year of races lined up. Good stuff.

Well, I should get back to work! Happy Tuesday Friends!

“Ice, ice baby…”

I went running outside for the first time in awhile this morning. The weather and my schedule have not cooperated to make it happen lately. But today, the stars aligned. It’s gorgeous here. Nearly 50 degrees when I was done. But look at that extended forecast–the bottom is going to drop out Sunday when a cold front moves in. 40 degree temperature change! Ugh.

My one complaint during my run? My hometown got about 4 inches of Snow Saturday night, and so we had a white Christmas this week. That was great. But seriously, homeowners! It’s been nearly a week- get your crap together and scoop your sidewalks! I had to slow down and walk or tread lightly because people haven’t scooped and now there is ice mixed with the snow.  Cold weather running problems. Sigh.

I checked my DailyMile and I’m 7 miles away from 750 miles run for the year…so that’s my new goal. 4 days for 7 miles–barring any more illness! I’ve been slow this week since that stomach bug. My appetite isn’t 100% yet and I’ve been so tired. I’ve been grateful for this vacation time–I know I wouldn’t have felt like working! Serendipitous planning!

Today I’m going to go see “Saving Mr. Banks” with my ‘rents. Matinee pricing FTW! Have a great Friday everyone!
