My day in (some) pictures:

My first day of vacation is pretty great! I slept in, (815 is sleeping in now. Crap, I’m getting old!) Then I ran 4 miles on the treadmill. I had lunch with 2 of my favorite guys at my favorite sandwich place. While there, a homeless man told me that I looked beautiful today. I’m sure that in no way was designed to make me give him money! 😉

I had to park in the parking garage and when I got on the elevator the “help” button was going off. A child had pushed the button and left. The man on the line was quite nice and said he was just glad everything was ok. He then wished me a Merry Christmas! So nice!

After lunch I got a one hour massage. Feels so good! My back and butt had so much tension in them! I feel so much better.

After that, I headed to my parents house where I made dinner. Fun Melissa fact: whenever I cook or bake I wear an apron. I’m so klutzy that I have the tendency to get food on my clothes. I have several aprons that my mom has bought me over the years. They’re adorable.

I’m spending the evening watching Christmas movies and relaxing. That’s a win. Vacation rocks.

Have a great night friends!

My night in pictures:

I had a really good hair day. It seemed such a shame to ruin it with a run. So i snapped a picture of my perky ponytail before all was lost. I got my run in too. I Sent Becky a snapchat to prove it. Success!

Tomorrow is sweater and snack day at work. I’m getting a lot of mileage out of my ugly sweater this year! I also made peanut butter cups to take to work for my snack contribution. They’re easy, except I left them in the fridge for too long, now the chocolate is hard to cut. First world problems.

The roomie and I are chilling, watching The Polar Express, and enjoying our Christmas lights.

One of our smoke detectors is dying. Its chirps are driving me nuts! I can’t figure out which one it is! Argh!

Have a great night friends!

“I triple-dog dare you!”

It’s not my favorite Christmas movie…in fact I’ve only seen it a handful of times. But I can’t pass up a sweet shirt and medal!

Yes, I did it on the treadmill. Yes, I ran with my bib on. Yes, I wore green to be Christmasy. Yes, I listened to Christmas music while I ran. No regrets.

Happy Saturday!

This day was fantastic! I ran in a tshirt and capris! And it’s December 2nd!

The bottom is going to drop out on Thursday in the form of a nasty cold front. But until then, I’m going to enjoy the gorgeous weather!

I did a little Christmas shopping and bought a present for my Secret Santa! Now I bake and relax.

Also, thank you for all the sweet and kind comments on my previous post. You’re the best!

Have a great day friends!

It’s 56° on the last day of November. I HAD to go for a run! I was chatting with Brooke earlier after she posted about running in the snow this morning and knew I had to get out there!

So many people are out, putting Christmas lights on their homes. I love it!
I’m helping my parents decorate today and then off to a party tonight.

Have a great weekend friends!

Monday, Monday

  • I started my Monday off with a trip to the doctor’s office for some blood to be drawn for a doctor’s appointment next week for my kidneys and a subsequent Tetanus shot. Being klutzy has consequences. After stabbing myself in the forearm with a box cutter Friday night, they insisted on the shot. I haven’t had one since 1998. 15 years is too long.
  • On the plus side, I am now boosted against Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough)!
  • I saw my General Practice Doctor in the hall as I was leaving the office. I said “Hey! What Up?!” To him as I walked by. He turned, smiled and said “Hi Melissa!” Only I would say “What up” to a doctor. This doctor delivered me when I was born, so he’s known me my whole life. Good stuff.
  • I am so FREAKIN’ EXCITED for Tumblr Secret Santa! I have a great person to give gifts to and I can’t wait to give buy and send them presents. I have so many fun ideas. I LOVE giving gifts. That is what the season is all about. It’s good for me to remember that.
  • I also have some ideas brewing for other gifts. I love love love Christmas.
  • Remember My car’s check engine light that turned on a few weeks ago? Yeah, I never got that checked out. But my car healed itself and the light shut off Saturday night. I’m not questioning it. Just considering it a win. I haven’t had good news in a long time so I’m glad.
  • I have to work both Thursday and Friday. BUT! I get 2 extra days of pay and the work is pretty easy so I’m okay with it.
  • My leg hurts a bit. I haven’t run since Saturday, but I need to. So I’m going to run a mile tonight and see how she feels. Fingers crossed.

Have a great week friends! Happy Monday!

I’m a Klutz

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve developed into a bit of a klutz. I’m not really sure how it has happened, but it has.

I find bruises all over my arms and legs, remnants of injuries that I’ve gotten when I’ve run into coffee tables, bed posts, doors, walls, etc. I had a nasty bruise and cut on my leg for nearly a month from slamming my shin into a coffee table. I find bruises I have no explanation for. It’s maddening.

So far this week I have:

  • slammed my elbow into my bedroom door in the middle of the night Tuesday as I was getting up to use the restroom.
  • I burned myself on the neck with my curling iron Wednesday morning. On the plus side, my hair looked fantastic! 😉
  • The wind caught the lid to the garbage can as I was wheeling it to the curb Thursday night. It smacked me in the forehead and left a bright red welt.
  • I stabbed myself in the forearm with a box cutter while opening wine boxes at Corky last night.

And that’s just this week! There are bruises on my upper thigh that I have no clue where they came from. I am beginning to worry about my safety!

In other news, I had to cut my run short this morning. My outer right leg still hurts from that injury a few weeks ago. I don’t think its an IT Band issue because my knee feels fine. It’s about halfway between my knee and hip and it just hurts. I foam roll and it feels better. But it also makes me feel like I need to baby it and walk with a limp. Any ideas as to what I’ve done? Is it IT band issues? HELP!!

Happy Saturday friends!

My view on this cold and snowy Friday morning.

My day off is great so far: I slept in, ate breakfast and am getting ready to hit the treadmill for a run! Currently I’m laying on the couch, waiting for my breakfast to settle.

Fun fact: one of my roomies is a firefighter (and is the boyfriend of another roomie) he made me fried eggs for breakfast as I can only do scrambled eggs! He’s the best! 🙂  He also looks out for me too…worries when I don’t come home at night and if I don’t tell him. Such a sweet guy.

Happy Friday!

“And I ran, I ran so far away…”

Well, maybe not THAT far…just a mile since I haven’t run since Saturday! But still. I’m proud that I did it!

My roomie and I decorated the house for Christmas tonight. That took precedent over my run. I’m running tomorrow. A minimum of 3 miles.

Now I’m watching Glee and enjoying my night!

Have a good one friends!
