Thursday things

  • Thank you for the kind words on this post. I was not having a good body day yesterday, so your comments made my day! Thank you!
  • I have 9 vacation days left to use by the end of the year. Southwest is having a fare sale. Coincidence? I think not!
  • Sadly, I can’t afford to go anywhere and stay at a hotel. Who wants me to come visit them in Chicago in December? 🙂
  • I wish I had more money
  • Throughout my run this morning, my toe next to my pinky toe hurt. I could tell my pinky toenail was causing troubles. When I took my shoes off I found I managed to cut my toe enough so that I was BLEEDING! I suffer for my runs apparently.
  • I’m having a girls night tomorrow with a couple of friends/co-workers. There will be Guacamole and Moscato and a movie. I’m pumped.
  • I really really really really wish I was going to Chicago this weekend. But I work a double at Corky Saturday and I’m really trying to make good life choices when it comes to my finances.
  • Remember the friend that I edit videos for? Well, I’m going to be doing more of that again in these next few weeks. Last year, all that editing earned me over $1500! I’m hoping to hit that number again. This time I will take the money and pay bills. Sigh. Being an adult sucks sometimes.
  • Random Melissa fact: I do voiceover work for some of the videos as well. If you’d like to hear me, click here. I start speaking at :53 in on my “Ryan” Video. Fun stuff and decent money too!

Well, that’s all I got! It’s Friday Eve Friends!

2 incredibly sweaty miles done!

In the morning.

Before work.

Victory is mine!

It’s no secret that I like to run in the morning, but I also like sleep too. The darkness has made it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. But I got it done this morning! I pulled myself out of bed and went downstairs to my treadmill to get my miles in. I’m so glad it’s done! Even if nothing else goes right my day is a success.

Happy hump day friends.

Look at what I discovered tonight!

If you don’t know, I adore mint chocolate, especially Jr. Mints. Those are my kryptonite. Brooke (two-o-nine) and I bonded over our mutual love of them.

I’m going to eat a little of this and watch New Girl.

I’ve had a day. I ran 3.1 miles after work. It’s fine.

So much awesome today…Twin Cities marathoners…Bob, Brooke and Susie rocked it! And Portland too! Bonnie and Doozer were great! In honor of them and the fact that it’s been a year since the Chicago Marathon, I put on my Marathon shirt and got on the treadmill for a 5k. I didn’t want to do it, but I’m glad I did.

Ain’t that the way it always goes?

Happy Sunday friends!

Things and Stuff

I haven’t run since Wednesday. Maybe I’ll run a few tonight on the treadmill. Maybe not. I’m ok either way.

I’m so very sad that I’m not in the Twin Cities to see you all run the Marathon. I miss my friends.

It has been a year since the Chicago Marathon. That was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I’m feeling a little sad this weekend. I miss seeing everyone. I miss the rush of the Marathon experience. Running a Full is something that no one can ever take away from you. I’ve done that. It’s awesome.

Part of me wants to do another Full. The logical part of me knows that I’m good with one and done. (plus, my doctor said no more Fulls!)

I think I’m going to sign up for the Ugly Sweater 5k run in Omaha in December. It’s fun to run and maybe something the Lincoln Tumblrs could do together?

I have to work at the Station this afternoon. We have a postgame show after the Nebraska game. I dislike those. The Huskers are kicking butt right now. Go BIG RED!

It’s chilly here…50’s, cloudy, windy and crisp. I broke out my skinny jeans and boots. Love that!

I’m working on not over-thinking everything. I’m really good at that. It doesn’t do me any good but causes me un-needed stress and tension. I’m really good at creating problems that aren’t there in the first place. Someone please remind me to get over myself.

Have a great weekend friends!

3.1 miles this (late) morning! I have the day off because I have to work Saturday for a Nebraska football postgame show.

So far today I’ve:
-slept 11.5 hours (I was so tired! )
-ran 3.1 miles in the gorgeous sunshine!

I plan on going shopping and cooking dinner for me and my roomies tonight. Maybe a little DVR catching up too! The world is my oyster!

Happy Wednesday friends!

Rest days are the best days!

I think I strained the arch of my left foot during the half Marathon on Sunday. It ached a bit then, and after resting it for 3 days I thought it was fine. But my subsequent 1 mile fast runs Wednesday and Thursday seemed to aggravate it. It just feels like I pulled it, ya know?

So last night after my run I told myself that I wouldn’t run for a few days…rest it and not actually hurt myself, right?

So imagine my surprise when I woke up early, raring to go! I thought I’d run. It’d be fine, I reasoned. My foot doesn’t currently hurt. Mother nature didn’t think that was a good plan. When I heard the rain I decided a run wasn’t in the cards for today. No need to run in the pitch black and the pouring rain! God must be protecting me, despite my tendency to push myself too hard!

So, I’m laying here, about to start my Marathon day…dentist appointment, 3 hour car ride, and 4 hour wedding reception. I love the calm in the morning before the chaos ensues.

Happy Friday friends! Have a fantastic day!

Another quick mile. Maybe not as fast as last night, I blame the 85° weather! But it’s still a fast mile for me!

Today is my Friday! I’m taking a comp day from a few weeks ago tomorrow to go to a wedding reception for a former colleague in Des Moines. I’m excited! And I have a dentist appointment in the morning. I love those! My dentist is hot, and funny, and I love going and having my teeth cleaned! So refreshing! (maybe I’m weird?)

Anywho, have a good night!

Photos are out from the Omaha Half Marathon. I like these these best out of the ones they caught of me. At least they always caught me running! There was A LOT of walking! 🙂

First picture is in the Stadium, I was so close to the end I could taste it. 2nd picture is crossing the finish line and the 3rd is with my new friend Kevin.

We befriended each other on the course around mile 10. We had been passing each other the entire race and then at mile 10 I came up beside him and we started chatting. His wife is super fit. This was his 2nd half. He’s from Omaha but moved to KC then moved back to Omaha. He works at a local college in the Dean’s office. ( What? I’m a journalist! I ask good questions! I’m really good at getting to know people.) We stayed together until 12.5 miles in, then he couldn’t do it, and told me to go ahead. It was nice to have a buddy for some of the race.
