Scenes from this mornings run. One of the streets in my neighborhood is all decked out for Flag Day. They lined both sides of the street with flags. It was pretty cool.

A beautiful flower I found along the way. It’s a lily I believe.

And me, look how sweaty I am only after 3 Miles! Such a humid day. In Nebraska we like to say, “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” Oh sure, it’s hot here most of the summer, but the humidity is killer.

Have a great Friday friends! I’m off work, I took a half day of vacation to get some things done. And it is glorious!

Edit: today marked 4 days in a row that I got up at 6am to run! Hurray!

This one is for all my fellow early morning runners out there…Amy, Melissa, Sarah…just to name a few!

While I don’t get up and run at 5:00am, I am up with the sun at 6am! There’s just something wonderful about running during the quiet mornings. Where the only sounds are your footsteps, your breathing, and the birds singing. Morning runs are the best!

Edit: Can’t believe I forgot this Sarah! She’s up for zumba and other classes at 5am!

Perfect morning for a run! Cool and crisp. I managed 3.5 miles once I got up. Amy (runningshew) came through with a wake up text again…thanks girl! It was a good run.

Last night I was supposed to meet my coworkers for karaoke, but they don’t get off until 1035pm…at 1130 one texted me asking where I was….I had fallen asleep on the couch waiting to go out. Whoops! I ended up just going to bed, but then couldn’t fall back asleep until after midnight! It was a short night.

Happy Thursday!

Am I the only one who sees this as an invitation to run THROUGH there during hot and humid runs like today’s was?

No? Yes?

Either way, you can believe I ran right through the sprinklers this morning. A lot of people had theirs going so I took it as an open invitation to cool off. It was nice. It’s already 73° and very humid and sunny.

This makes 2 days in a row that I did my run before work! Success!

Have a good hump day!

Gross picture of the day: the 2 bugs that stuck to me during my run this morning! Yuck.
A big thanks to Amy (runningshew) for texting me at 6am to get my butt out of bed and to go run! I’m so glad I did, it’s already quite warm and humid…I certainly don’t want to do it after work!

Happy Tuesday friends!

This was a fairly terrible run. My legs felt like lead most of the way. It was hot and sunny (85°) and low humidity. But I did it and that’s what matters. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 95° and quite sunny and warm. So I will be up in the morning to get my run in, promise! Either that…or it’s not getting done…and that’s not an option!

Have a good night friends!

Do I have enough sense to come in out of the rain?

Apparently not.

I was nearly 4 miles into my 7 mile run when the rain started. It wasn’t that bad, just sprinkling.

Then the heavens opened up. We’re talking rain-coming down in sheets, streets suddenly flooded with water-kind of rain. I sought shelter under a tree when the first crack of thunder hit. (There was no lightning). After about 5 minutes of this without it letting up, I called my friends to come get me and wearily accepted the defeat of my run.

As I was waiting for her to arrive, the rain let up and I was tempted to start running again. When she arrived the deluge was coming again. She took me home and I had decided to finish my 3 miles on my treadmill despite having developed my summer aversion to the machine.

However! My roomie was still asleep and I didn’t want to wake her so I ran an errand and when I came back I decided it wasn’t going to rain again for the time it world take me to finish my run so I headed back out.

Moral of this story? I finished the run. And I’m soaked in a mix of sweat and rain. It didn’t rain on me again. Maybe just a few sprinkles…However, despite feeling very hardcore running in the pouring rain I’d like to think I have enough sense to come in out of a thunderstorm!

Now I must shower and get ready for my friend’s wedding! Happy Saturday friends!

The one day I can sleep in….

I’m awake at 8:15am.

Sigh. However, I actually feel refreshed. Maybe my body got the sleep it needed? I was out by 11:30 so I suppose so.

Just checked the radar…thunderstorms are on their way around 11:30 this morning. So if I want to run long before the rain and the birthday AND the wedding I better get moving now!

I GUESS I’m glad my body woke me up early… 🙂

Have a great Saturday friends!
