3.1 morning miles DONE!

You read that right friends! I got my lazy butt out of bed and went for a run this morning. Same route as last night, no screaming calves….and no sunshine. 😦
Just me, 80% humidity and the road.

It started raining halfway thru…so I hurried up and made my way home. Thunderstorms are in the forecast so i think I made it just in time.

However, its true. Running in the rain makes you feel so hardcore. I felt powerful. Certainly more so than the people driving by me in their cars! 🙂

Now I must get ready for work!
Happy Tuesday friends!

3.1 miles done

My calves were screaming at me until about 2 miles in. That meant more walking than I wanted. No biggie. The weather was gorgeous…75°, sunny , breezy and perfect. Love those evenings.

Tomorrow its supposed to rain on and off all day so I may have to hit the treadmill if its too bad.

Hope, Amy and Melanie, glad I’m not the only one who struggles with getting up early to run. Its so hard sometimes!

Have a good night friends

I could kick myself…

Everytime I don’t drag my butt out of bed to run before work in the mornings I could just kick myself. Because now I have to do it after work when all I really want to do tonight is go to the grocery store, make dinner and veg on the couch.

Instead? I’m going to go home, get into my running clothes and go run some miles. I’d like to do 7 miles tonight, but most likely its going to end up being just 3. It’s very hard for me to run more than 3 miles after work. My job isn’t physically demanding at all but I’m tired at the end of the day. And I don’t want to go run. And now I’m whining.

Get over it Melissa. Just go do it.

Message received. I’m doing it. Tomorrow? Tomorrow I’m going to get up and run before work.

Hopefully.

😉

7 miles done.

Clockwise from top left:
I have always used the Razz flavor of the Cliff gels. But when I went to buy more before the Lincoln half last month I found the vanilla flavor. I like pretty much anything vanilla flavored so it stood to reason that I would like this. So i bought one and waited to try it on a long run that wasn’t a race day. OMG you guys! Its delicious! Tastes a little like candy and not gross and gel like at all. This could be dangerous. Its yummy.

The weather was perfect temperature-wise. 60°, cool, and cloudy. But that wind? 20-25mph gusts for the second half of my run. That was super fun. It was good to be pushed though.

Me, post run. Nice and sweaty! I’ve earned my shower and my first pedicure of the season! Can’t wait! I also got whistled at while i was running today…that’s always nice! It was one of those loud, piercing whistles that startled me. In fact, I was looking the other way because i was crossing over this small stream that was very full due to all the recent storms. I’ll take a wolf whistle any day! 😉

I’m having a Melissa day today…pedicure a little shopping, then i have to work at my PT job tonight. Should be a good day!

Happy Saturday friends!

Scenes from a fantastic evening run.
Clockwise from the upper left: if I were to describe to you the kind of house I want when I grow up, it would be this one. Classic colonial I believe. This house in in my neighborhood along my running route. I love looking at pretty houses when I run!

This cool eagle is carved out of a wood stump. Found it along my run.

Me, post-run. I continued my neon green theme with my new running shirt!

These rose bushes are in front of my house. That’s part of the fun of renting a house! The flowers that come up in the spring are a surprise!

And finally, a peony I saw along my run. Those are one of my favorite flowers! So pretty! During my run, the cotton was flying from the cottonwood trees. I love that sight. It has always signified that summer was here to me. Also, so many people had their grills out…the smell was intoxicating. I also love the smell of freshly mowed grass…one of my favorite summer smells!

On my way home, I was crossing a busy street when I had to run ahead of a car. The dudes in the car yelled something to me about “shake that ass!” as I ran across the street. Thanks random dudes. I’m sure my butt was shaking as I ran across the street, but I’m not sure they needed to point it out. Whatever dudes.

Now I’m enjoying a quiet night at home catching up on my tv! Happy weekend friends!

Pardon scary morning post-run Melissa! I just wanted to show you the lovely sweat ring I got this morning from my 2 mile run! It’s super humid and it sprinkled on me a bit during my quick little run. But i took the same route I did last night and was 33 seconds faster per mile! I guess morning running is for me!

Good run, lots of sweat. Now I’m going to hit the showers to get ready for a very long day: I work both jobs today so it’s likely to be a 13ish hour day. Yay….

Happy Wednesday friends!

Early morning outside runs FTW!

As I finished my 3 miles this morning, I was cooling down and walking back to my house. A car pulled up next to me and the older gentleman inside rolled his window down and said to me, “Well aren’t you just the cutest thing on the streets today!” I grinned and thanked him, and told him he made my day and was too kind.

I smiled all the way home. What a fantastic start to my day! And to think, I didn’t want to get up and go for a run! But I’m so glad I did. My body woke me up just before 6am so I decided I should get up and run. I haven’t had an early morning outside run in awhile. It was fantastic! I could run ALL the hills, my body wasn’t too tired from working all day. I could run better and longer. I think my body just likes to run in the morning better. I also ran into several other morning runners. We all smiled and said hello to each other. I love that. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, the air was cool…the heat of summer has yet to settle in. I could smell flowers along my route. What a great morning!

Happy Friday friends!

How did life get so busy?

I started working at the Corky Canvas this week. I trained a bit Monday and then observed and did some bar sales last night. It was fun. I think I’m going to like the job. And the extra $80-$120 every 2 weeks should be pretty awesome.

This was last night’s painting they did:

My boss and I were changing out some of the display wine on the wall, she gave me a bottle of Pinot to take home. I, of course, promptly forgot it at the studio. I don’t work there again until Thursday so who knows if it will still be there. Oh well. I’m not a big drinker anyway.

I worked Monday and Tuesday nights there, had a late dinner with a college friend Monday, have tonight off, and work at Corky Thursday and Friday nights. I feel like I don’t have much time to catch my breath this week. But its ok. It’s good. It’s distracting me from the fact that the one guy that I like that I went out with a few weeks ago hasn’t called in several days. Distractions are good.

In other news, I told Brooke last night that I was going to get up early and run before work this morning. Do we think that happened?

Nope. But, I’m going to run 3 easy miles tonight when I get home. Promise! Then I have to run Thursday morning and Friday morning. There’s no other time to do it.

Tonight, my roomie and I are going to make guacamole, relax and watch tv. (after I run, promise!) I need a ‘me’ night.

I want to write a Fargo weekend recap. Because that weekend was too awesome not to recap. Perhaps tonight? We shall see.

Have a good day friends!

I love you guys!

You all sure know how to make a girl feel good about herself! Thank you all so much!

You look great!

Love the outfit! See you in under 2 days!! 🙂

You are looking good!

….wow!

Not a sassy pant in sight!

If I wear white anything below the waist I will sit in ketchup. Guaranteed!

Thanks everyone! You are all so wonderful! And LOL Rich, no sassy pants at all! 😉 And Jen, I’m always so worried when I wear that skirt…but so far, so good! 🙂 And Brooke, I can’t wait! It’s almost here!!!!!!

In other news, I went for my final run before Fargo tonight. 85 degrees outside…no humidity, but I was sweating up a storm! You know how sometimes when you run, you feel like you don’t know how to run? Like your body just forgot how to do it? And you feel all out of sorts? Maybe that’s just me. But anyway, I felt that way tonight. Like my body wasn’t firing on all cylinders or something. But it always feels that way until about 2 miles in.  So it sucks when my run is only 2 miles long! By the end of the run I was good–At one point I was running an 8:35 pace! I was flying! I think its true about running and life; you have to keep going through the bad times to get to the good ones.  You WILL come out on the other side of it if you can persevere. Running lessons=life lessons.

On that note, I’m going to bed. Have a great night friends! Thanks again for being so wonderful!
