Seriously?

As I was responding to some correspondence tonight (i.e. replying to my Match emails, I just think that sounds much more genteel than ‘emailing back random dudes I’ve met online’) I noticed that the system had sent me some new recommendations for guys they thought I should look at. And lo and behold, but who is one of my daily matches?

None other than Douche-Bag Scott.

Seriously Match? As if seeing video of him on my TV Station this week wasn’t enough, you have to twist the knife a little bit more by reminding me that we are a good match? Ugh.

Gee, thanks.

Whatever dude.

In other news, I went over to Lindsay’s house and got to hang out with Bailee, Lindsay, Holli and Victoria for awhile. You know you’re getting old when you decide that 10:45pm is late and you need to go so you can go to bed!

We made plans for brunch in the morning. I am ridiculously excited. Bring on the french toast!

Lincoln Marathon weekend has begun!

It’s Friday!!!

  • It’s Lincoln Marathon Weekend! Let’s do this! Bailee is coming to town. Can’t wait to see her. Oh yes, and run some miles too!
  • Thank you guys from all of your supportive and kind comments this week. It’s been a doozy. I hope the rest of May is better than how it started.
  • On that note, this week has shown me that relationships are hard. Not only the ones between men and women, but between us and our parents, too. My mother is currently mad at me and not speaking to me. She reads this blog, (hi mom!) so I hope she knows/sees/understands how sorry I am. Sometimes we are the biggest jerks to the ones who love us most. I suppose its because we know they HAVE to love us and will continue to. Love you mom. I’m sorry I’m a jerk sometimes. Sigh.

Have a great Friday friends!

Life is strange

In the past 36 hours I’ve:

  • managed to lock myself out of the house. One roomie was in Omaha with her BF and the other was teaching Dance. I had to go steal Dance teacher’s keys to get into the house. I had taken my key off my ring to go run with Monday night and forgotten to put it back on. I’m going to make a copy tomorrow!
  • been complimented by my boss for putting our main female anchor in her place. I hit her with a low blow, and shouldn’t have said what I did, but he was glad I did and thanked me for doing it. So odd.
  • In other news, in the interest in putting myself out there…and the fact that my Match subscription doesn’t expire until May 14th or something like that, I’m emailing with 3 other guys.  We shall see.  If nothing else, I’m sure they will give me more stories, right?
  • My friend was telling me about a guy that she knows that she thinks I should meet. His name is Scott. I had a knee-jerk reaction, but told her if she thinks it would be a good fit, to set it up. 4th times the charm? 🙂
  • Just when I thought Joey was also doing the slow fade (and for once I didn’t mind!) he texted me last night. I really don’t want to end things in a text. Need to find my guts somewhere.
  • I was supposed to run 2 miles tonight to taper for the Lincoln Half Marathon on Sunday. I had to get on the treadmill and could only force myself to do 1 mile. I just wasn’t feelin’ it. The weather has been fantastic for days…and then the bottom dropped out today. It was 80 yesterday and now, as I sit here its sleeting/snowing/raining and 31 degrees. Mother nature, you are drunk. image
  • Bailee comes to run the Lincoln Half this weekend! Can’t wait to see her!!
  • Now that its May, in just over 2 weeks, Bailee and I will head to Fargo to be reunited with Brooke and Johnna!! Chicago Tumblr reunion!! So excited!!!!

Have a great night friends!

Scenes from today’s 11.6 mile run. I was shooting for a test half Marathon but again miscalculated the distance. I got quite warm and didn’t have any gels with me so when I started feeling like I was going to throw up around 10.5 miles I decided that just making it home would be enough.

When I run, I generally don’t stop to take pictures. However I had to get a picture of the grape hyacinths on the left. My parents have some in their flower garden and they’ve always meant spring was here to me. That and lilacs. I have so many good memories tied to those flowers that I had to get a picture.

On the right, I tried to zoom in to show you the sexy dried sweat on my face. Its quite warm here…72°, sunny and just a gentle breeze. Its fairly perfect. And as I ran through neighborhoods I smelled so many people’s grills. It was torture.

Also, a car-full of guys, (i can’t figure out their Ages) was honking and waving, and hollering at me. That was nice. But the guy who appeared to be taking my picture? That was strange. I was running and he was driving by with his phone out the window aimed at me. It followed me as i went by. So very odd.

After my glass of chocolate milk I’m going to hit the shower and have my own version of a grill out: I’m nuking a veggie burger!

An update on last nights date is coming, promise!

Happy Saturday friends!

Thursday things

  • Last night I got into it with the resident Bizzo at my work. The attacks became personal across a crowded newsroom. My boss wasn’t mad at me, but at her. And I learned something about myself: if that would have happened a few years ago, I would have cried either during it or after. Because anger used to turn to tears for me. But now? I’m older and wiser (HA!) and tears don’t come during fights.
  • The rage I felt during the argument fueled my run (she asked me what I do I all day, because a mistake was made that wasn’t my fault. Then she accused of me of copying and pasting the news!) Needless to say I was enraged.
  • I set out last night to run 5 miles. Since I moved, I miscalculated the distance and ended up running 7 miles instead. I think I needed it.
  • I also ended up running super fast. It’s amazing what anger will do for a run! On the route with the big hill I ended up running a 6:59/pace down the hill! I felt like I was flying!!
  • I was consistently running a sub 10:00/mile. I also ran a 8:45/mile. That is incredibly fast for me! Rage-fueled runs can be awesome. I even was running into a pretty good headwind and it started sprinkling a bit.
  • A car-full of teenage boys yelled “hey baby, can I have your number?” at me. Its always nice when that happens!
  • The Lincoln Half-Marathon is May 5th. I’m feeling pretty good about my training.

Have a good Thursday Friends! 🙂

These Dreams…

Oh Tumblr, you’ve invaded my dreams now!

I can only remember parts of last night’s dream, but I do know that David was in it.

I’m pausing to let that sink in, and for David to come up with some sort of dirty reply before I tell you that I can’t remember the gist of the dream. I do recall something about making this super long list of places that I had to go/run to and David was there and he (and some other people who I can’t remember anymore) and I were going to go to these places. It was a strange dream. I woke up in the middle of the night and thought, ‘I need to remember this dream so I can blog about it.’

Clearly that didn’t work.

In other news, I ran outside after work last night. It was warmish (about 70 degrees) and very humid. (We got Thunderstorms overnight.) I was a hot, sweaty mess. But it felt good, you know? That feeling when you know you’ve worked out hard and pushed your body? That’s how I felt last night. In exchange I slept hard last night, and dreamt about David. 🙂

Happy Tuesday Friends!

Post-10 mile run picture.

It was 70°, sunny and quite windy. That spot on my forehead? You know what it is? Dried sweat!

I’m super sexy, I know. 😉

Maybe this is why I’m single?!
I did get honked at 3 times, so that was nice.

The day was perfect enough for me to run in just shorts and a t shirt. Earlier in the week I needed capris, gloves, a jacket and a headband. Picture perfect day.

Hope your Saturdays were wonderful friends!

I’m 0 for 2

Today’s date cancelled on me too! We were supposed to meet up before the annual Nebraska Spring Football game for a drink. I texted him to find out if he still wanted to, and he replied back that his friend had ditched him so he didn’t come down for the game either. (he lives in Omaha as well). Its pretty much just par for the course when it comes to my love life.

He said he comes down to Lincoln a couple times  week and if I go to Omaha I need to let him know. We exchanged a few other texts and that was it. I’m not holding my breath.

On the plus side? It’s 70 degrees here, sunny and gorgeous! I’m going to head out in an hour or so for a 10-12 mile run. Its also crazy windy, and that’s supposed to slow down soon. Fingers crossed.

Also, thank you for all your sweet and kind comments on last night’s post! My ego has taken a beating this weekend, that’s for sure. But you guys made me feel better! And Bob and Victoria are right: they wouldn’t tow for license plates and I totally did dodge a bullet! Seriously.

But to the jerk who reblogged my post and added their own comments about me nursing my bruised ego and how I must be “such a keeper:” because I obviously don’t care about this guy and his car being towed… No one asked you! I never heard back from him. I’m fairly confident if he was telling the truth he would have tried to reach me by now. Just sayin’. People can be so cruel.

In other news, today has been a decent day; I slept in, ran some errands, bought a new comforter for my bed when I move, and ran into an old friend at the mall. Life is what you make of it. And I’m going to make mine great! I also discovered a turkey in the driveway when I walked out the door to go shopping. I chased it into the backyard where it panicked because it couldn’t get out due to the fence. I snapped a photo and it finally found its way out. I live in the middle of town! I didn’t think I’d see wildlife here! 🙂

Happy Saturday friends! 🙂

Life and Stuff

Exciting things are happening right now!

Here they are in no particular order…

  • I ran 5.35 miles tonight…same route with a little more tacked on from last night. That same hill? My fastest time was 7:15/mile down the hill! It was fun to run that fast!
  • I have a date tomorrow with the texter, and I’m meeting another guy on Saturday for a drink. It’s fine. I just have to keep their names straight.
  • I’m moving! My roomie’s boyfriend moved in with us in early March. It has been kind of awkward for me, so I’m moving in with one of my co-workers and her roomie. AND I don’t have to live in the basement! So excited about that! Plus I got a new (bigger) bed!
  • It’s supposed to be 70 degrees here tomorrow and Saturday so I’m super excited to go for my long run on Saturday.
  • I’m going to Denver next weekend for a 4 day weekend with my BFF. I leave Thursday night and don’t come home until late Monday. I got a super cheap flight on Southwest a few months ago. It’s only costing me $93.30! So freakin’ excited. I foresee a new Coach purse in my future! 🙂
  • Tomorrow is Friday!!!! So happy about that one!

Hope you all have a great night friends! 🙂
